2005 Subaru Legacy 2.5GT Limited
Cory Wolfe replied to Cory Wolfe's topic in Member's Rides Showcase
I just learned something new about the AWD system. Previously, I was under the assumption that there was a 50/50 torque split between the front and rear. That is the case only with the manual transmission. Mine is actually biased more to the rear with the specific transmission my car has. Apparently (copy and paste time) it has an electronically controlled variable transfer clutch that distributes power, but through a planetary-type center differential and a viscous-type limited-slip rear differential. Torque distribution is normally configured at a performance-oriented rear-wheel-biased 45/55 split front to rear (as against the 90/10 split in Active AWD found in most automatic transmission equipped Subarus). Interesting, though I'd still rather have the manual transmission due to its simpler set-up and better overall performance due to such. Also, I just finished my first modification. It's a simple one that anyone with a GM vehicle would never have to bother with: activating the fog lights to work with the parking lights. Only took 10 inches of wire and two wire taps. -

Cadillac ATS-V On the Way, Will Get Twin-Turbocharged V-6 - Car News
Cory Wolfe replied to BigPontiac's topic in Cadillac
Personally, my preferences are based more on cylinder configuration than OHC vs OHV. I've grown fond of all the odd ball engine configurations out there, despite some of their inherent flaws. The rotary (Wankel/Mazda), flat/horizontally opposed (Porsche/Subaru), staggered design (Volkswagen A.G.), turbine (Chrysler) etc appeal to me in a quirky sort of way. With that said, most of my personal experience with the traditional OHC vs OHV argument has been in favor of OHC. Saying that involves using an asterisk as most of my OHV experience is limited to older, anti-progess engines that were past their prime. Having driven the CTS-V, I know how much of a sweet spot the 6.2L V8 is. There's no engine that could suit it any better. Besides, Dwight is the only guy in here using facts. To ignore those is simply ignorance. -
Any changes to your "automotive family" soon?

If gas prices continue to rise, I might be looking to pick up another Honda. A 1992 Honda Civic VX is looking like a nice contender. -
Yeah I wouldn't say the fit and finish were superb..........'good' i can agree with. But there were places on some door and dash panels it seemed sloppy to me. the steering wheel controls had a sloppiness and looseness atypical of Hondas. The seats were not taut like Hondas I knew...the seat cloth was not bound securely the seats and seemed like it will shift around and such over time. honda only put brown tones and blacks and grays inside the civic. there are no metallics or chromes or anything to break it up....its just deadly plastic......and everything is random I passed a new Focus on the road today and have to admit I am not sure I like it in person.....way better than the Civic......just lacks crispness......its too much like Contour version 4.0 to me......it's like a blob I haven't really oogled one on a dealership lot. That's just my impression from the auto show. Otherwise, as mentioned, the interior is garbage. Also, agreed in regards to the Focus.

The interior is probably the biggest let down, in my opinion. It's practically Cobalt rivaling in terms of material cheapness. The fit and finish is superb, if that counts for anything...

My fun cars are my daily drivers. There isn't really a distinction between the two terms. With that said, I do keep the Legacy away from work duty.

Volkswagen uses incorrect information for their owner's manuals. Recently, the brake lights on the Golf went out. The first thing I did was look to the owner's manual to check the fuse. What do you know? The fuse it had listed for the brake lights was intact. That's odd... must be the brake light switch. After switching that out for one out of the Jetta, I knew something had to be up. I had a sheet I printed out previously for relay information and it also happened to have fuse information on it. I got it off of VW Vortex back in the day. I decide to check it to see what it says... Owner's Manual: VWV Print-out: Needless to say... the latter was correct...

Cool. Randomly, I noticed I can't find my galleries anywhere if I look for them through the Galleries tab. The pics show up under new content, however. -
