I fail to see where anyone "took a swing" at Chrysler here. Again, regarding Pontiac's statement that you quoted, its a fact that Chrysler has super $h!ty luck as of late - Daimler doesn't want them, apparently no one wants them, they're fire-selling vehicles and still losing sales, their latest vehicles are met with mediocre reviews, and now these recalls. In fact, of all the recent Chrysler threads, this is the one that has the LEAST unwarranted insults.
-
Uh, #1) Bringing up a two year-old recall doesn't absolutely zero to reinforce your "point." #2) This whole "Well, GM does ____!!!" thing lately smacks heavily of Your-mom-ness. #3) Pontiac's comment wasn't even derisive. It is, in fact, a true statement that Chrysler has had a lot of recalls lately that only piles on top of their spate of bad luck.

Flybrian's Random Car Showcase Presents... The 1998-99 Cadillac Fleetwood Limited Through boredom and...well, just boredom, I bring you the second in likely many little 'diaries' of a completely random car. ~~~~~~~~~~~~~~~~~~~~~~~~~ 1998 Cadillac Fleetwood Limited Lima, Ohio is not home to many things. Some oil was drilled there. Hugh Downs of 20/20 fame worked there. Ford's 3.5l Duratec is made there as was Phyllis Diller. But it is home to one of America's - if not the world's - most experienced and respected coachworks: Superior Coaches. Ten years after its formation in 1915, Superior began to modify existing auto chassis to accomodated customized hearse and ambulance bodies, later diversifying into limousine manufacture. The most prolific 'builds' have clearly been from Cadillac chassis and one of its more recent Cadillac-contracted 'oddities' was the Fleetwood Limited. With the intention of filling the gap left behind by the departure of the B-body Fleetwood and to counteract sales of Lincoln's new Town Car, Cadillac contracted Superior to modify a number of top-selling DeVilles to Fleetwood Limited spec. 1998 Cadillac Fleetwood Limited Structurally, the Fleetwood Limited rode a unique 119.8in wheelbase (a 6-inch stretch from the standard DeVille) as well as having a six-inch spacer added between aft of the C-pillar and the decklid opening. This resulted in an amazing 49.3-inches of rear legroom and a cavernous 23.5 cuft of trunk space. Tony Soprano, be proud. But even with this stretching, the Fleetwood Limited was still four inches shy of the B-body Fleetwood's overall length. Mechanically, it received upgraded heavy-duty suspension, steering, and braking componants and exclusive heavy-duty aluminum wheels. Ridiculously huge trunk Inside, the Fleetwood Limited was appointed in a manner befitting its grand intentions. Heated power leather seats with 4-way lumbar positioning was standard as was a trunk-mounted 12-disc CD changer. Options included dual rear writing tables, dual footrests, fender skirts, padded roof, moonroof, and a gold ornamentation package. Six-way power rear seats were also optional. The most expensive option was a $2500 DVD/TV combo mounted in the rear, something rather special considering the year. Spacious and luxurious rear accomodations Base price was $49,330 with an optioned-out Fleetwood Limited clocking in at about $57,500. 'Limited' was a very appropriate moniker with only 781 being produced in 1998 (314) and 1999 (467). Virtually any color on the Cadillac pallette was available, from Diamond White to Firemist to Crimson Metallic. Parisian Blue is the rarest scheme with only two painted in the hue. Adding to the rarity was its 'Limited' availability as only authorized Cadillac Profession Sales Centers were allowed to sell these cars. Over time, some have been modified to armored status with bulletproofing and self-sealing fuel tanks. Myself, I've seen about three or four of them over the years, but absolutely none recently. A 1999 Fleetwood Limited armored by O’Gara-Hess & Eisenhardt Tentative plans were made to continue Fleetwood Limited production with the new 2000 DeVille bodystyle but obviously, this wasn't to be. Long-wheelbase versions introduced shortly after the volume model's debut eliminated the need for an expensive, custom-built specialty model, but for those lucky enough to own (or even have seen!) one, they represent a true rarity in the contemporary Cadillac family. Premier Buick-Pontiac-GMC Dealership Opens Carl Black Buick-Pontiac-GMC Unveils New Design 3.1.07 STUART, FLA. - The first all-new Buick-Pontiac-GMC showroom in the United States will open its doors here Thursday. After being destroyed by hurricanes Francis and Jeanne in 2004, Carl's Buick-Pontiac-GMC at 2445 S.E. Federal Highway has put the finishing touches on a completely new, modern exterior and interior design. "I'm proud to participate in this great occasion," said John Larson, general manager of GM's Buick-Pontiac-GMC divisions in Detroit. "Carl's is part of a growing number of dealerships that have combined the three brands under one roof. He is also one of the first to invest in an all-new facility image design." KENNESAW, GA. – The first all-new Buick-Pontiac-GMC showroom in Georgia will open its doors here Friday. Carl Black Buick-Pontiac-GMC at 1110 Roberts Blvd., opens with a completely new, modern exterior and interior design. “I’m proud to participate in this great occasion,” said John Larson, general manager of GM’s Buick-Pontiac-GMC divisions in Detroit. “Carl Black is part of a growing number of dealerships that have combined the three brands under one roof. Dealer Mike Bowsher is also one of the first to invest in an all-new facility image design.” Channel Strategy In 2002, GM announced a strategy to group the Buick, Pontiac and GMC brands into one preferred distribution channel. Currently, about 1,600 dealers are aligned, and together they sell about 65 percent of the volume for the three brands. “We believe this provides a competitive advantage for our dealers,” Larson said. “The Buick- Pontiac-GMC channel allows GM to optimize each brand by developing distinct yet complementary vehicles that reduce product overlap, broaden the appeal of each model and reach new customers.” Each brand in the channel has it own defining characteristics: Pontiac: Athletic, bold designs with great performance Buick: Premium vehicles that offer classic, timeless designs, and exquisite levels of craftsmanship and high quality GMC: Professional Grade trucks, SUVs and crossovers engineered to provide superior capabilities and innovative features. New Facility Design The Buick-Pontiac-GMC team worked with dealer input, GM Design Staff and a nationally recognized design firm – Pavlik Design Team of Ft. Lauderdale, Fla. – to come up with the design. The new showroom exudes a clean, modern feel, with distinct areas for the three brands. The dealership’s exterior features a black, white and gray color scheme, constructed of brushed metal panels with bright metal inserts, and black metal accents. The interior design includes a modern balance of light cherry wood and a ceramic tile floor. The interior also takes several of the visual design elements from the exterior and incorporates them into the interior, such as the arch over the receptionist’s desk. The overall result is an efficient facility design program that provides Buick-Pontiac-GMC dealers with consistent brand identification, as well as a modern and pleasing environment for their customers.

In all honesty, the Avenger is fine. Its the Sebring that needs help all-around. It really shouldn't even be a Chrysler if they care about what Chrysler means at all

Boring Desktop? Spice it up with some Pontiac Power!

Couldn't get a picture, but I did see a 2007 Camry with a canvas roof. Hillarious. Also, saw my first new Tundra. It was red and looked like a slightly larger Tacoma. Whoop-de-doo. A new X-Trail today.

'Old' defined as what exactly? G is still the best large car platform on the market today in terms of value and strength. The 2006 Avalon is based on the 2002 Camry which itself is a development of the '97 Camry (not a completely new platform). 1997 for the Avalon's origin vs. 1995 for the G-body. Hmmm...This is hardly an obvious fact because Toyota and Honda are pretty good at concealing the true lineage of their vehicles Old man what? And the HydraMatic still has better shift quality over the Avalon's 5-speed.

Welcome to Choppin' Competition #37! Well, its here - the long-awaited rear-wheel drive Pontiac concept that is uncannily similar to what we'll be given to purchase in the coming year. Many have fallen head over heals for the clean, crisp, and modern lines of the G8 while other wish it had more character, more charm, and more Pontiac styling. Wherever your opinion falls, we can all agree we're in store for a real high-quality performance sedan that just may recapture some much-needed audience for Pontiac. For those in the latter camp, however, here's your chance. Your task, should you choose to accept it, is to modify the existing Pontiac G8 show car in any way you desire. Yes, that means anything goes from the smallest taillamp or headlamp modifications to a completely new fascia to different bodystyles like a coupe, convertible, or wagon. Maybe you want to see the G8 as a patrol car or GT touring race car - everything goes! Please use only the Pontiac G8 as the base pic for your entry. Some Picture Sources... -Autodeadline* -Autoblog -CarPhotoSite -Netcarshow Size guidelines remain at 800x600, so please size your entry accordingly. Please do not submit your images as Bitmap (.bmp) files. The winner will recieve a GM-related prize from C&G! Deadline is Saturday, March 17th @ 11:59PM your local time. Good luck and have fun! *Instructions for accessing high-resolution images through AutoDeadline: Replace the bold, orange section of the URL... (http://gm.wieck.com/forms/gm/*query?silverado&Source=all) ...with the make/model/etc you're searching for. Replacing 'silverado' with 'lesabre' will bring up downloadable hi-res images of the Buick LeSabre.

Germany accidently invaded Poland but, you know, since so many of them crossed over, it took awhile for them to leave.

My car has 14 inches between the prow and the nearest mechanical part (radiator). God bless FWD and their proportions. I laugh at 3ers with tiny front overhangs.

Want to know something? That's more factual and less joking than it leads on to be. Most Korean cars I see (even 2000+ models) are simply in woeful cosmetic appearance. I guess if you buy the lowest denominator, who cares?

The -800s handled great for fullsized truck-based vehicles. Some people expect everything to ride on rails and those people need to get out more.

Insurance covers the cost anyway, so big deal. Even if it doesn't (and believe me, I know), I was able to fix my own damage myself for cheap. Insurance companies lobbying to make it cheaper for insurance companies. Makes my heart sad...
