  1. Ehh...something extremely generic about the Impala, even supercharged. A nice car no doubt, but e had Budget is $10-15,000 for all interested. Thanks for the support and such, guys! Oh, and there is a wildcard in this (no, not an Outlander), and its something no one would expect.
  2. Smells like Super Doody. j/k
  3. The fact that they picked a V6 Lexus over all those other is lame. And the C70? Does anyone even remember that car? Hell, people still want to buy Eldorados and Mark VIIIs.
  4. That said, how many people have ordered the panaramic roof? How many complained about it afterwards? Bet its a ratio close enough (and low enough overall) to ditch the option.
  5. All G-bodies have this front-end vibration, something I believe is inherent to the structural frequency of the car. I've driven a few G- and K-bodes aside from having two in the household and all of them are affected by this to varying degrees. From experience, a 2005 DeVille I rented shook between 85-90mph. My Aurora does this between 75-85mph, but milder with acceleration. Our 2000 Bonneville did this from 65-80mph being rather detectable at ~70mph, but after its accident and frame-rework, it now only does this mildly between 85-95mph, mildly like my Olds. Above 100mph, all these cars are absolutely smooth as silk... ...or, you know...so I've heard...

  8. So, I'm looking for a... 2001-03 Aurora 4.0 2003-05 Park Avenue Ultra 1998-04 Regal GS 1996-99 Riviera (supercharged only) Preferrably all four. Yeah, right. I wish. But reasonably, one that's very well-equipped, very good condition, and with very low miles (under 50k). Difficult? Maybe. But this isn't something that'll be purchased today or next week. Likely within the next few months. So, if anyone knows of anyone with one of the above, let me know.
  9. So, I go to visit my girlfriend after lunch today, and I see this (Yes, I had to circle around to get a better look)... Its facing westbound in an eastbound lane. I think one of the decorative rocks took out the rear axle. Maybe not. Regardless, someone got one hell of a nice start to the weekend. Sorry if the pic quality is meh; used my camera phone. Oh, and I don't remember if I've posted these before. If not, here are my "Dude, you just f**ked up your Hyundai" pics from a few months ago...
  10. Wasn't the total list price about $45,000 if you bought the car and took it to Mallett?
  11. People spend $2-3000 on navigation systems they don't use after they impress their friends five times, yet they wouldn't buy a Diesel.
  12. Having it play a role in your buying decision is no different than a myriad of other reasons people use to determine what vehicles they want to select from.
  13. No turbodiesel at first; engine may be available later Link to Original Article @ Detroit Free Press | By Mark Phelan | March 29, 2007 Highway cruising over 100 m.p.h. with fuel economy exceeding 37 m.p.g. Detroit to Chicago and back -- 566 miles -- on considerably less than a tank of fuel. Is this heaven? No, it's the Opel Astra 1.9 CDTI, powered by GM Europe's latest turbodiesel. The fuel-efficient and powerful 1.9-liter turbodiesel in the Astra I recently tested in Europe won't make it across the Atlantic this year, but it may be in the brand's future. The 2008 Saturn Astra that hits dealerships late this year will have a 140-horsepower 1.8-liter four-cylinder gasoline engine. Saturn hasn't said how the car does in EPA fuel consumption tests, but you can expect it to be competitive with models like the Ford Focus, Honda Civic, Nissan Sentra and VW Rabbit but well short of what the diesel would achieve. Saturn executives have their eye on GM's European diesel lineup. The brand could offer the latest generation of low-emissions diesels alongside its growing lineup of hybrid-electric models as it works to polish its earth-friendly credentials. The main questions are how much could Saturn charge for the diesel and how many customers would pay for it. Diesels are more expensive than most gasoline engines because of costly additional components like turbochargers, intercoolers, high-pressure fuel pumps and extra emission-control systems. Ballpark figures floating around the industry suggest a diesel that can be sold in all 50 states in 2010 could cost around $1,000 more than a comparably powerful gasoline engine. That's a big hurdle for a compact car like the Astra, but it wouldn't be a shock to see the brand offering diesels to test demand.
  14. Tenn. Saturn plant will switch to building Chevrolet crossover By ROSE FRENCH AP Artist Rendering by MJDecker SPRING HILL, Tenn. (AP) - General Motors Corp. announced Thursday that its plant in Spring Hill, which has built Saturn models for nearly 17 years, will be building a new brand. The brand's birthplace rolled out its last models for the Saturn brand this week as the plant gets ready to reconfigure its production lines to build new GM vehicles. GM executives and union officials who met with employees at the plant said the product will be a Chevrolet crossover vehicle, according to people familiar with the meeting who requested anonymity because the automaker hasn't yet officially announced its plans. Troy Clarke, GM's North American president, and Tim Lee, GM vice president for manufacturing and labor relations, attended the meeting along with Cal Rapson, vice president of the United Auto Workers union. Designed to compete with low-cost Japanese imports, GM launched the Saturn brand at its plant in the small Tennessee town of Spring Hill in 1990. Close to 2,400 of the plant's nearly 4,700 workers are being laid off for about 18 months while the plant is remodeled. GM has promised to bring the workers back once the facility is equipped to produce other GM vehicles. AP Business Writer Tom Krisher in Detroit contributed to this report.
  15. Our Bonneville still has it on because its red and relatively unobtrusive and otherwise too much trouble to get off. I took it off my Aurora because - though the decal itself was okay - on my car, it looked garish and took up way too much room. Plus, it says 'Scott Buick' when its an Oldsmobile, which merely screams to everyone 'I BOUGHT USED!!!!!' In any case, the dealer folded up a year or so ago, so what's the point?
  16. Have you tired steam cleaning it with a Bissel or Hoover or something? Perhaps something at a self-serve carwash.
  17. Well, Circuit City is on its last legs. This move just goes to show the level of desperation and lack of forsight Circuit City has in dealing with a financial crisis. Instead of cutting costs in other areas (or simply cutting salaries for new-hires), they're choosing to burn up goodwill with now-former employees and the public. It looks bad, its callous, and its foolish. Also, my main point was to rebutt Reg's statement that the best way to avoid being fired is to work at your best every day. Not so. In a right-to-work culture, you can be fired for any reason without explanation. Experience and knowledge counts for nothing and given the choice between a well-versed employee at $30k a year and a 22 year-old dunce at $20k a year, most companies will choose the latter and suffer for it. They think short-term, not long-term and end up in the bucket. ------------ And as a general statement, I know everyone has differing views on unions and unionization, but when I see (not necessarily here, mind you) people making brash statements like, "Good for nothing unions!" and "Useless greedy pigs" applied across the board, the ignorance irritates me. Unions gave us occupational health and safety standards. Unions gave us the living wage. Unions worked to ensure that all employees were treated equally. Unions gave us benefits. Unions gave us 40-hour weeks, weekends, paid vacation, sick days, and workman's compensation. Yes, unions have issues today, no doubt, and they need to realize they are inexoribly tied to the well-being of their patron company in this modern world. But lets not forget what unions did for us. They existed (and still do) for a reason.
  18. Circuit City Stores Inc. has a message for some of its best-paid employees: Work for less or work somewhere else. The electronics retailer on Wednesday laid off 3,400 people who earned "well above" the local market rate for the sort of jobs they held at its stores. In 11 weeks they'll be able to apply for their old positions — which will come with lower hourly wages. ... Company spokesman Bill Cimino said Circuit City wanted to be honest with its sales associates so they would understand the reason for the layoffs. "It had nothing to do with their skills or whether they were a good worker or not," Cimino said. "It was a function of their salary relative to the market." ... The highest-paid employees can be some of the best and most experienced, and if Circuit City's customer service suffers, so may the company's fortunes against Best Buy Inc., whose reputation for high-quality help has helped make it the industry leader. "I question whether Circuit City's move is going to do them any good at all," said Van Baker, a media and consumer electronics analyst with Gartner Inc. in San Jose. "One of the things they're doing is getting cheaper employees who are likely to be not as well equipped to address consumer questions." Bet they wish they had a union...
  19. Can I buy some pot from you?
  20. Can someone translate??
  21. Hey, that's actually cool. Thanks for pointing that out!
  22. Stop it! The facts hurt my jaded brain!
  23. Can't entirely disagree with that. Also consider for the same money, you get literally more car with the DTS.
  24. The interior is by no means horrible, but merely suffering from another case of why-didn't-it-look-like-this-when-it-came-out-itis. Our STS' exterior is superior, however. Yes, it borrows a CTS-esque grille, but since this car is edgier and the CTS softer, the differences are greater than they are currently. The front looks very elegant, though I would've liked to have seen more chrome touches on the rear to match the heavy-handed grille as well as relocating the GM logo further down on the fender and nixing the totally ghey euro-style repeater lamps which do not belong on American cars because they look trashy.
