Are talking a scratch like this... ...because that's been like that for months now. You learn to live with it until you get the time/money/materials to fix it. I would've probably made an attempt to scratch his tailgate in a similar fashion to even it out. But yeah...

The transmission operating in Powerglide mode is the infamous shift solenoid problem that plauges a good number of 1995s. The solution is a new transmission solenoid, which is about $60-80 and 1.5-2hrs if you do it yourself. Its apparently not super hard and there's even a write-up on what to do... Clicky 169k isn't a huge deal on these cars. Mine is up to 131k and as I've mentioned before, one of ACNA's members got up to 310k before he finally gave it up and his was a '95. The cosmetic stuff is your call but again likely not a big issue. If all the power equipment works and it isn't throwing off any other weird codes, its a good buy, especially if you dicker down to $800. And if you do end up buying it, I hate you because I want a sunroof and a Bose Acoustimass system. Good luck and let me know if you have any other questions.

Cadillac CTS-V gets 4WD, but no UK visa? 02 November 2007 | Link to Original @ AutoCar An all new four-wheel drive, Corvette Z06-engined, BMW M5-baiting Cadillac CTS-V will become the flagship of the re-launched US brand’s line-up next year - but Autocar has learned that US bosses have yet to approve the car for right-hand drive production. The snorting 500bhp CTS, previewed by the CTS Sport concept shown at this week's SEMA show in Las Vegas, is still under development in the US. Over there bosses remain unconvinced of the financial case for exporting the super saloon to the UK, despite Cadillac bosses here fighting for the car to be imported as hard as they can. US bosses are worried that the limited number of cars likely to be sold in right-hand drive markets doesn’t justify the millions of dollars needed to engineer the car properly for them. If the new CTS-V is four-wheel drive, unlike any CTS gone before, the nature of its all-wheel drive system may make it all-the-more expensive to convert for right-hand-drive. All-wheel drive versions of Mercedes' C-class and BMW's 3-series, with a front-mounted engine and rear-mounted transaxle gearbox, require an extra driveshaft running forward from the transmission to the front wheels. In left-hand-drive models, this is routed through part of the front passenger footwell, and makes converting to right-hand drive prohibitively expensive. The same could be true for the new CTS-V. However, a decision to bypass the UK market with its halo CTS could still be interpreted as proof that Cadillac still doesn’t take Britain seriously, and given this week’s re-launch of the struggling GM luxury brand, that's exactly what the firm doesn't need. Sales below supercar levels Cadillac sales over the last two years have totalled “around 400”, according to new UK boss Jon Nash, whose has added the US luxury nameplate to his Saab UK responsibilities. This disastrous performance is a fraction of the 8000-or-so cars first forecast in 2005, when Caddy set-up in the UK. This year Cadillac hopes to sell around 400 cars, rising to 600 or so next year when the new CTS and BLS Wagon are added to the range, followed by sales of around 800 in 2009. Nash’s plan is “deliberately conservative. We’ve already over-promised twice, I don’t want to repeat the same mistake”. His control of Cadillac in the UK is, however, still a little remote. GM is continuing contracts with Dutch distributor Kroymans and UK dealer group Kroymans who have invested millions of pounds in dealers, parts warehouses and other back-up services. Nash, however, has control over marketing and brand strategy, which he now plans to concentrate 90 per cent of his resources on. “Get the brand right and we won’t have to struggle to sell cars, the sales will just come naturally,” he says. Shaking off the Elvis connection Nash has already been able to prune back the dealer network to five sites from ten, but there will be more in future, most likely operated by other dealer groups than Pendragon. One significant breakthough is a commitment by GM “for millions of pounds” — the exact sum remains confidential — for a solid advertising and brand marketing campaign to raise awareness of Cadillac’s current models in the UK. Knowledge of Cadillac among UK buyers continues to be dominated by historic links with 1950s pink Caddys and Elvis. “People just don’t know about the current models like the BLS and CTS,” says Nash.

But now, they're gearing up to help build the Chevrolet Malibu, one of GM's most promising new cars. It's work that could add up to 300 jobs by next spring, local union leaders said. Workers learned this week that the sprawling factory in northern Oakland County will manufacture anywhere from 10 percent to 25 percent of the much-hyped new Malibu. The car is mainly being built at GM's Fairfax plant in Kansas City, Kan. Workers are so elated by the news the line will shut down for a quick celebration later this month, before work starts on the Malibu on Dec. 3. "Everybody's real happy -- this means a future here," said Mike Dunn, shop chairman for United Auto Workers Local 5960, which represents the plant's 2,000 rank-and-file workers. "Most plants are laying off, and we're adding workers." The victory didn't come easy. To snag Malibu production, Dunn said, the plant had to prove it could meet strict quality standards. The local also likely agreed to adopt money-saving work rules as part of GM's efforts to implement so-called competitive operating agreements at each of its factories. Orion is one of a handful of factories where workers have ratified a local contract with GM as part of this year's labor talks between the UAW and Detroit's three automakers. A national agreement between GM and the union was approved Oct. 10 by rank-and-file workers. The news is a bright spot amid a painful few weeks for Detroit automakers and their workers. Chrysler LLC on Thursday said it would cut 12,000 more hourly and salaried jobs. GM recently announced more than 2,000 layoffs at three Michigan plants. The timing of the cuts stung workers after they recently ratified labor deals with the automakers that were supposed to save factory jobs. Under the GM contract, Orion was promised the job of building the Pontiac G6 through 2013, but nothing else. If the Malibu is a hit, Dunn said, the factory could produce as many as 100,000 Malibus in addition to 150,000 G6s. "We fully expect the product to be hot," GM spokesman Tom Wickham said. "We want to have the capacity." Early reviews of the Malibu, which went on sale this week, have been glowing, and the automaker said a massive Internet ad blitz last month drew record numbers to its Chevy Web site, including tens of thousands of people asking for quotes and dealership information. Critical acclaim doesn't guarantee success, however. Competition is tough in the crowded segment, dominated for years by the Toyota Camry and Honda Accord. Dunn will most likely be among the car's top cheerleaders. "It the first Chevy we've ever built," at the factory, he said. "It reminds you of a Cadillac, but not for the cost."

There was a '62 Electra 225 and a '54 Lincoln Capri that I would've loved. Lots of Camaros, MOPAR Hemis, and other typical stuff that honestly didn't really interest me. A few nice cars, though. Some fool wanted $1000 for a '78 Grand Am with no A/C, jinked suspension, a hood that wouldn't close, and the most destroyed paint job/surface rust ever. Riiiight...

We tried to sell that Alfa at a local classic car auction; no bids. On the way back to the lot, the front clip fell off. Would've been better if it happened on the stand. Oh well. eBay it goes. We picked up a '95 300ZX w/out turbos and an '82 Fleetwood Brougham with the infinitely-reliable HT4100. Its triple-yellow and just...well...you'll see pics soon.

Neither the Astra SRi on which the Saturn is based nor any three-door Astra has an available sunroof. However, the panoramic windshield is an option, as it should be here...

Three mind-numbing, eye-gouging, headache-inducing times. In short - Civic is refined, Corolla is trashy; Focus is a fun handler, Corolla is a grocery cart with a sticky caster; Cobalt is more powerful and roomier, Corolla is weak and uncomfortable. I seriously fail to understand how such an underwhelming, cheesy, junky car can be such a hot seller in light of better (or at least cheaper) competitors. If you disallow all the seniors, stupid high schoolers, stupid parents of high schoolers, and foreigners who drove these piles back in the motherland from buying cars, Corolla sales would plummet. And if you've driven an '02-present Corolla against those three cars and came away with the impression that the Corolla was in any way significantly superior, I seriously question your values in automotive judgement.

Revealed: Maybach 62 Landaulet Link to Original Article @ Motor Authority Maybach’s newest model has been revealed ahead of its world debut at the upcoming Dubai Motor Show in a couple of week’s time. The car is a new semi-convertible version of the 62 saloon that officials will be calling a concept, but a limited production run of just 20 examples is all but confirmed for early next year. The new model is based on the current Maybach 62 but adopts a sliding roof over the rear compartment. The Landaulet design was made popular in the early part of the century and is basically a regular sedan with a fabric roof-center that can be folded away. The car also gets a revised interior with a removable glass panel dividing the front and rear quarters. Power will come from the same 612hp V12 engine shared by the regular saloon. A certain unscrupulous UK publisher has taken it upon itself to again leak photos ahead of their release date and since we don’t agree with their behavior we won’t mention them by name, however it won’t be long until official pictures are out so stay tuned for full high-res shots.

Judging by the Florida market, definitely rent unless you can pony up the cash. If that's the case, its a total buyers market. So many idiots got in over their heads with overvalued property. Though even ownership comes with risks here. The homestead exemption issue isn't resolved and you'll be lucky to get homeowner's insurance at all.
