  2. The entire body of the Solstice is bulgy, rounded, whatever. It matches. It doesn't on the above.
  3. Heads-up displays and cornering lamps. Cars do offer these, just far too few of them. I would also like the Tweel
  4. A Lucerne CXS would be the definite choice for me. Its the closest thing to my car that GM makes today, though the DTS is also quite nice. I like the lines of the Buick more.
  5. Extended until Wednesday, midnight!
  6. Cadillac CTS has Time-Shift that can pause and replay radio onto its 40-gig hard drive.
  7. I just wouldn't feel comfortable owning a foreign car outside of a very select handful that I feel are worth consideration.
  8. Very sorry to hear, my friend. Being so close to my dad, I hate to even imagine. But you're very right in your words and to the moments you've shared.
  9. She drives an '88 S-10 Sport (Blazer). Likes the Charger, Riviera, Monte Carlo, Reatta, AURA, STS, XK8, Sierra, Ram, or F-150. Father has an early-90s F-150, mother a '92 Chevy G20 van. A good friend of mine, she drives a '97 Jeep Grand Cherokee, would love a newer Jeep, Solstice, SKY, or SL550 (we can dream). Another friend, she drives a Taurus, wants a Jeep Wrangler or Dodge Ram. Another friend, he owns an '02 Saturn SL1, wants nothing but a Cadillac DTS, STS, Escalade, or GMC Yukon Denali. Another friend who some C&Gers met, he owns an '06 9-3 Aero, used to want a G35 or FX, now wants the forthcoming 9-4x, or new VUE. I surround myself with the best. Checkmate.
  10. Best-selling is not synonymous with best. By your poor reasoning, McDonalds is the best restaurant in the country, WalMart is the best retailer, and Starbucks makes the best coffee. Again, re-read. 2002-2006 Camry - justify that as a 'better' can than the Accord of similar vintage. Hell, tell me it was a better car than about a dozen other midsizers - poor quality, downgraded materials, engine sludge problems, low performance, skitty handling, unergonomic interior, and hillarious styling. 2007's isn't shaping up to be a winner either with early recalls, complaints of continually-falling quality, poor ergonomics again, an ever-shrinking trunk, increased fleet sales, and a disgusting dealer network that Toyota itself admits is a huge problem. The Corolla also outsells the Civic. Earned? Hardly. That is also an old, junk car. How about you prove to me that the last five years of Camry deserved the 'best-seller' title over truly quality entries from virtually every other manufacturer?
  11. Latest figures showed 21-24% I believe. Alot more people buy them than you think, at least around here, and no, they aren't all owned by Old Man River.
  12. Yes, with more practical headroom than your Bonneville. The faster roofline of the Bonnies cuts down on headroom a bit while the taller greenhouse of the Aurora (and LeSabre) make rear entry much easier. I'm not as in-depth on the overall reliability of the Shortstar as Aurora 3.5 or Intrigue owners are, but from all accounts, its a good engine if maintained properly. By the time of the second-generation Aurora, all of the early teething problems suffered by the Intrigues who first adopted the Shortstar were resolved. Yes, its fine with 87 octane. No need for hi-test. Most I've seen have reported low- to mid-20s in mixed driving; rated at 18/27. As with most GM DOHC engines, they love to be wound up and many small performance problems and carbon buildup in Northstar et al engines can be attributed to the soft loafing they get from their older-than-average owners. KBB values the car at $8140. New, it was priced at The 3.5l is 212cid rated at 215hp@5600, 230lb-ft@4400. Final drive ratio is 3.29:1. You're spot-on with the transmission. Expect a 0-60 around 7 to 8 seconds. Here's the Oldsmobile spec sheet for 2002 (everything is identical though) Oldsmobile Aurora Product Info Guide I've heard of intermidiate steering shaft issues with all 2000-01 G-bodies, including the Aurora. My father's car doesn't suffer from it though. The Aurora in general is a vehicle I would highly recommend. The ride quality, acoustics, handling, and driving experience is hard to match today as most vehicles have either gone too sporty or too expensive. Its a wonderful road trip cruiser while still being reasonable to handle in town. Chassis-wise, you're familiar with it from your SLE and the biggest differentiator is the powertrain. The 3.5l Shortstar will be a different experience from the 3800; not as gruff and not quite as torquey straight off the line (these aren't tire-shredders), but a smoother powerband with a good amount of torque and horsepower at higher RPMs. Expect softer seats and a more compliant ride than your SLE, but still very composed. As I always say, check to make sure EVERY option works - seats, mirrors, radio functions - nothing is worse than a luxury car with something inop. Test drive it and check before and after under the engine for any leaks (4.0s were more prone to dripping than 3.5s). Also, go ahead and browse some of the second-gen forums at the Aurora Club of North America, which is like the only active Olds Aurora forum out there. Don't let all the 'problem' threads scare you because, heck, that's what most owner's sites talk about anyway. But good luck and let us know. If there's anything else I can answer, please ask!
  13. OMG @ TEH PANEL GAPZ!! DIS MITSIBISHI IS OF TOTALY SUPERYOR QUALITEE! IGNORE TEH FIRES THO....ITS UNDER WARRANTEE!
  14. Since 2002, the Camry has been a substandard pile in a world of increasingly quality midsize sedans and a car that sells on its 'reputation' rather than substance. P.S. the big info screen is lame.
  15. So, I do have a coupe. Two coupes, actually.
  16. Don't be ridiculous...it was 2002.
  17. 2008 Honda Accord Sedan 2008 Honda Accord Coupe The sedan looks so dopey and why the Element grille?
  18. Running into me.
  19. Thanks, Trina. CXS should get a different treatment...thicker bars or some sort of blackout. Otherwise an improvement in my eyes. Just wish the tail would've been diddled with, maybe some chrome elements or at least a chrome bar in the horizontal indent.
  20. I don't 'feel' the gulf of disparity between a Mercedes/Lexus and Cadillac in the new radio controls is what I mean. I use steering wheel buttons mostly, anyway, and GM has IMO been superior in easy-to-use satellite controls. I also put ergonomics far above the 'click' quality and would rather have a slightly more ratchety feel that's easy to deal with than butter-soft buttons that are hopelessly tiny and clustered in impossible groups.
  21. Speaking of the interior, to all the dash molestors out there, about 90% of everything is soft touch. - dash, door panels, most of the center console even. I never had any problem with the switchgear. I don't see exactly how quality is divined by such miniscule proportions. And, yes, the gem is the DI 3.6l.
