  1. Yes, using eBay Motors is not the way to prove a point of resale value.
  2. ...but remember. The Japanese are going to bury us in the truck market with their even heavier, more inefficent SUVs.

    OH MY.....

    Re....tarded?
  4. I guess all those articles proclaiming Chinese vehicles are a threat to America are correct in a different way... Old-style Rodeo IIHS test results This lends creedence to Satty's theory.
  5. Okay, now that I've learned what a Hot Carl is, I regret making it such a big deal. Deeply, deeply regret it...
  6. What is a 'hot Carl' anyway?
  7. To paraphrase from Reg, you guys are going to "fill your pants with a big ol' hot carl" when you see this.
  8. Balthy, you rock my world.

Meh. I got the first decent L-Series pic I could Google. :P You have to like the relevance of the Bush pic, though.
  10. I'm guessing for the fleet and 'work truck' variants of the Tahoe.
  11. What's on of the things the extra gear supposed to get you? Better fuel economy, right? Armada gets, what, 15.5mpg for an EPA average? Sequoia gets 16.5mpg, same as the Durango. Even the smaller, V6 Honda Pilot gets a hair under 20 (19.5mpg). GM uses a 4-speed and apparently gets a combined average of over 20mpg. Amazing. As far as the shifter location, IMO, its far more intelligent and sensible to maximize the interior storage space of a utility vehicle like a large SUV. A gated floor shifter is, for all intents and purposes, useless. I will say the Escalade would be fine offering a floor shifter since that '900 is geared more towards luxury than utility. The Yukon and Tahoe use what they have to the fullest, making them the better choice.
  12. Congrats, reg, you've made it to my sig.
  13. I read them and only the middle one really conveys that message in a way people would pick up on. Its a theme that's been used a whole lot in classic Oldsmobile advertising ("What's OLDS is NEW again" "Find something NEW in an OLDS" etc). The other two are simply ads that have nothing to do with your theory. BTW: A '46 car of virtually any make is pretty much a prewar car. For four years prior, everyone was kinda busy making tanks and planes and things that go boom, so the new 1946 cars (and a handful of '45s) were really not new - mostly rebodied '42s with slightly updated grilles. That fact really brings home the irony of the New '46 Olds - Its Olds, but its new, but really...its old. The real 'new' cars came in '47, '48, and so on...
  14. Having a really comfortable third row would obfuscate the need for a Suburban.
  15. Yeah, choosing pre-war models of any car is probably the worst way to illustrate its contemporary and dynamic nature...
  16. Its painfully obvious its a show car not meant to be driven. In which case, sure, its cool. Whatever.
  17. Dude, that doesn't have anything to do with anything...
  18. Okay, I know a bunch of you eBay like myself. I usually scope out car parts and airplane memorabilia. You may go for sporting equipment, autographed photos, fabrege eggs, Selma Hayck's panties, whatever. But the point of this is to find an eBay Motors Gem. In other words, a complete car for sale on eBay that is in such a condition that you would only find it on eBay. That, or the listing is simply hillarious. Here's my first entry and an example: 1979 Lincoln Versailles Premier *Seamlessly-extended front end to accomodate 'spare' wheels. *"Vynal" roof with aged rust lines. By It Now Price: $6500
  19. Ditto that.
  20. Get's all the hotties... In case a certain C&Ger is still interested, this one is for sale. $36,000, a mere drop in the bucket for an Opera Pimp. I think this one was owned by Huggy Bear. :P
  21. Me and my extrodinarily pointless knowledge of cars of the Iron Curtain strikes again...
  22. Yeah, I was pretty sure Saturn's standard naming policy was all-caps. IMO it works better with the shorter names like ION, SKY, and VUE as opposed to RELAY and OUTLOOK.
  23. As, screw it, I'll ruin the surprise. Its the LeSabreski Its the ZIS (Later ZIL)-112. Built in 1951 and obviously inspired by the GM concept of the same vintage, it was about 20 feet long and sat three. It ran in state auto racing events after a rebody that cut some length, some of the original 5400lbs, the hardtop, and a modified engine putting out 192hp. At that point, it reached speeds of about 130mph, very impressive for such a freakin' tank of a car. The ZIS-112 is very significant for being one of the very, very few Soviet dream cars ever produced. Unlike American concepts, cars like the ZIS were used solely to show what the great Socialist machine could produce rather than offer hints at future production cars, cars that often trailed American styling trends by about 20-35 years. Here's another rare bear... That's a 1954 GAZ prototype for a turbojet car intended to break the land speed record of the time of about 430mph (held by the US, of course). It 'only' reached about 186mph in early testing before logistical issues and a minor accident shuttered the attempt.
  24. To reinforce the point and eliminate confusion, release is scheduled for approx 9AM tomorrow (Tuesday) morning, so no need to stay up late tonight. Remember, these times come straight from our sources at GM and they are in a certain level of flux until the press releases are actually put out there. We're always at the whim of GM Media and there have been times when they got the jump on us or pushed back a time from a previously-given one. We always try our best to cope and pass the word on to everyone.
