Buick has always had a strong brand identity anyway, something car companies like Mazda clearly struggle with. The individual models are most often referred to as 'Buicks' and sometimes the model. Perhaps the only two outstandingly-known nameplates are LeSabre, Riviera, and to a lesser-extent Grand National.

Having had a DeVille base for four days, I can agree with that. My rented Caddy certainly scooted away quicker than my Aurora, but it didn't have that same feel, which IMO has alot to do with its suspension and handling setup. You're not supposed to really feel that acceleration in a DeVille, merely realize you're moving at a faster rate of speed. Plus, it floated like a bitch and honestly, that got irritating after awhile. As far as CX ride, I would suspect/hope nothing worse than a LeSabre with Touring Package, which gives you a nice boulevard ride without unneeded float.

Now, I can agree with that being a barely-any-frost-here man myself. It just looks funny as an option, but certainly not a deal-breaker for a $35-39k purchase.

France has been recycling spent reactor material since the beginning of the nuclear programs, turning the plutonium and unused uranium into other fuel elements. Because of that, the high-level waste generated is very small, amounting to "the contribution of a family of four using electricity for 20 years is a glass cylinder the size of a cigarette lighter." Back in 1991, the French parliament laid plans to build four research laboratories to investigate different means of disposal from burying the waste in the ground to detoxifying it somehow in the labs. Based on their results, parliament will make a final decision as to what to do with the waste and by the year proscribed, one of those labs will becoming the national stocking center for waste. That year is 2006, so we'll see what happens. The reason why France, Japan, and Canada are so successful is due to their spent fuel recycling programs and that they use one type of reactor (the CANDU setup up north and 56 Westinghouse PWRs in France), minimizing the cost and complexity of a national power grid. Our power grid runs off several different types and we have this inherent fear of nuclear power because of incidents like Three Mile Island and Chernobyl. Everyone likes to point out how unsafe nuclear energy is by referencing Chernobyl, but really that was a result of pure ineptitude by the people running those facilities. Yes, I believe only a very, very minute percentage of 'nuclear waste' is truly waste, i.e. unrefineable.

Getting rid of the Custom Cruiser and Cutlass Ciera/Cruiser did not alienate their core customer base.

When I see a plastic cup ashtray and cigarette lighter option on a $38,000 Toyota Sienna priced at $98 and a cargo net costing $69, its puts things in perspective. Also, $199 for carpet mats on a $33,000 Avalon. No all-weather mats, but regular floor mats. Should things like that be standard?

The black leather scheme looks particularly nice. I agree with Ven that a darker woodtone would contrast more nicely.

Um...actually, the Custom Cruiser was more or less redundant in GM with three fullsize wagon nearly identical to each other. Besides, this was around the beginning of the period when Oldsmobile was moving up and out and big barges such as the CC didn't meld with the New Olds and really didn't with some of the Old Oldses. Seeing a wood-festooned Cutlass or Custom Cruiser next to even a Toronado Trofeo looked as funny as seeing a Cutlass Ciera next to an Aurora. I wish the Custom Cruiser was more Expression than Caprice Estate. Sacrifice the 3rd-row and unneeded bulk for a trimmer still-large sport wagon. Look at the '00 Profile concept and the Expression of a decade before.

Hood ornaments, whitewall tires, chrome sill and rocker plates, ventiports along with landau kits are all traditional Buick aftermarket dealer-installed option fare.

1) No one knows Isuzu really exists anymore. 2) Find me an Isuzu dealer. Though if I were in the market, I would definitely look at Isuzu first and make sure the warranty outlasts the company.

He wasn't really saying anything about sales, merely what he likes (right?). Anyway, sales doesn't always = superior. The Camry is a best-seller, but there are better sedans, notably Accord.

Since this has just turned into bickering, bitching, and insults despite my and other's hope that a mature, informed discussion could take place, I'm closing this topic. Again, this is becoming more and more of a circular argument with no end (or even a point) in sight. And some of the immaturity expressed by some have no place in a news discussion. If you all feel this can be reasonably debated again without the insults, we can try it again, but Round One is over.

Its funnier because a few K-cars wore the HEMI badge and earned the right to since the small Mitsubishi 4cyl in them was a Hemi. They deserved the moniker more than the cars today, IMO.

Good. I'd rather not see the roads flooded with them as that only serves to eliminate its specialness. That what makes the 300 even more unappealing - the fact that its ev-ery-where and most I see are white, silver, or tan base rentals. Charger looks better and offers an appropriate interior for the price.

What are carige tops? Clearly you failed to read and comprehend again. I said I appreciate and wouldn't make fun of cars that are well-customized by someone putting forth some effort. Momo rims on a rusted car with mismatched body panels doesn't cut it. I also assume you're reffering to that Park Avenue. Not only do I not like it (DIO trash), but I didn't comment on it...so...what the hell are you talking about?

My list: Corvette - I won't discount it. Lucerne - I have my reasons and will defend them. DTS - Its in a dwindling class and I see its only real competitor being the Lincoln Town Car. 'Nuff said. Fullsize pickups and SUVs - This should be readily apparent. What the leftover pickups and SUVs lack in interior beauty they more than make up for in durability, fuctionality, and variety. Also, I'll pull a Consumer Reports and say 'based on past track record' of the current crop and the interior improvements of the '07 Tahoe, et al, they'll continue to be class-leading. Express/Savana - They're safer and more economical than the best-seller Econoline. Yeah. It is a small list.
