  1. Pretty much what they said. Congrats for being one of the first interested in posting a through 'official' review of your car. In fact, if you'd like, yours can be Cheers and Gears' first Long-Term Review vehicle.
  2. Don't most mfgs charge about $600-700 for an automatic? A grand and change seems expensive.

  5. I could tell a similar story regarding Cadillac 'service' or lack thereof from one of the oldest and so-called 'reputable' Cadillac dealerships in Florida. Took them three weekdays to look at my car for warranty service, something they're obligated to provide under GM's agreement over ophaned Oldsmobile cars and another five to work on it. This was after a near-hour argument with the service rep over the fact that they're supposed to service Oldsmobiles. No loaner offered and I felt I had to beg for a simple ride home. Poor communication between service rep and myself and my car wasn't even rinsed when it was pulled up for me to pick up - typical 'shop scum' left all over the body. Sure as hell soured me on ever buying a Cadillac from them...God forbid I have to get it serviced. They also sell Land Rovers and 'exotics' like Bentleys and the like. Maybe they should stick to that. Its a shame places like this still exist and an even greater shame that their selfish franchise actions reflect poorly on General Motors as a whole. Its a sad state of affairs when I'd gladly choose a Goodyear Gemini Service Center and a B-P-GMC dealer I didn't even buy my car from over the Buick dealer I did.

  8. As I said in the other thread, hate the Montego front, the un-sculpted flanks, and the Altima taillamps, but that interior? Especially with the darker wood, its fantastic. It sure 'shrinks' the center stack, my largest gripe about the current LaCrosse. I think that with less wood in certain places would be lovely.
  9. Ahh...of that I was not aware. Not a fan of the Montego looks, but the interior seems very nice. A little less wood (like within the gearshift) would be very nice for our LaCrosse, which IMO looks alot more Buick on the outside.

    Very sad...

    Remember, there are two F/A-18s - the original multirole Hornet that's been in active service for 15 or so years and the much newer F/A-18 E/F Super Hornet. Here's a good comparo between the two: The Super Hornet mainly replaces the F-14s in long-range, high payload roles and the A-6 Intruder in attack roles since it carries more fuel and more ordinance. As far as the X-35 JSF goes, the Navy expects to supplant and replace their older A/B and /C variants of the F/A-18 with X-35s eventually (the JSF has something like twice the Hornet's range on internal fuel) while the U.S. Marine Corps wants to replace all their Hornets and[/b] AV-8 Harriers at some point with X-35s.
  18. My former neighbor's rare, one-of-twenty Honda Prelude 'Type-R' wiht a 400hp turbocharged I4. Um. Okay. And my car flies. Camaros are better than Firebirds or vice-versa. If only they weren't the same car. Someone also told me Lexus was such high quality because it was started by former Mercedes and BMW engineers who were sick of their German companies' poor quality cars. This was apparently done in 1995. That was hillarious, by the way. But my all-time favorite was when someone tried to argue with me that my car was bought from Honda by General Motors and rebadged 'Aurora' instead of 'Acura.' What...the..f@#k are you smoking?

    So, Rich, why do you have to steal waht I was going to say? Seriously, he's right. The F-14 and the USAF's F-15 Eagle are that last of our true interceptors designed to engage Soviet bomber fleets and their escorts at long stand-off ranges of dozens and dozens of miles. In today's multimission combat environements, the F-14 simply cannot be adapted as well as the F/A-18E/F Super Hornet, which is actually an all-around 20% scaled-up variant of the standard F/A-18. The 1990s 'Bombcat' upgrades gave the F-14 air-to-ground capabilities, but as it was never envisioned for such a role (back then, the A-6 Intruder was the strike jet) and making it capable would require such a large investment on an aging airframe, the Super Hornet makes better financial sense. The F-15 itself is also going to be replaced by the F-22 Raptor, what many (including myself) consider to be the last pure interceptor. Of course, its still sad to see any weapons system like this be required. F-14s represent the US Navy as much as any aircraft carrier or submarine and its presence in the skies and in the fleets will surely be missed by many.

  23. I know, we all know, but c'mon. The safety and rattle comments you made have to do with build quality and engineering, not dash materials. If your head flies forward in a modern car, its going to hit an airbag, not the dash. Your head shouldn't be thrown that far if you're properly belted in the first case. And even so, its not a '61 Invicta; even 'hard' plastics are padded and designed to give to varying degrees. And you and I both know G-cars are very safe so head contact won't even be an issue. The simple fact is, if it bothers you that much, fine. If you're okay with it, fine. Fighting the battle of its importance on a personal level is ridiculous and circular. However, I think we can all agree there is room for improvement in the Lucerne as there is in every single car on the market, God's chariot the Avalon and such included. I think Cananopie said it best...
