  1. Bolero is a great name. Unlike Alero, it actually has meaning, too - a Spanish/Latin dance, great for conveying an image of a smaller car that's nimble yet elegant with a touch of class. Plus, it not only fits with Buick's frequent Romantic naming (Rendezvous, LeSabre, Lucerne, LaCrosse), but was also used on a 1990 concept sedan that was a precursor to the Skylark:
  2. *Insert really easy Brokeback Mountain joke here*
  3. Not even. Try eighteen hours.
  4. Statesman is just such a poor choice. It means nothing. It sounds so hollow and empty. Its not even a term we use in this country that much.
  5. It's indeed textured, but seems unscathed. My primary concern is color matching. I want an exact match to Silver Teal Metallic. I'd love to get a Carfax on her. At this point, it would just be funny. And, Walt, that is the best thing ever. I craked up for minutes straight

  11. I love...desk I love...lamp...I LOVE LAMP!
  12. So, its 12:30am and I'm driving home from the beach. I decide to do something rare, crazy, and irrational, a thing the majority of drivers here don't do - I stop at a crosswalk. I wonder why the couple walk so slowly across while starting behind me under I feel a *THUNK!* And that's what it feels to have a 2006 Solara hit you. Damage is minimal though, as you can see. Thing is the car was a demo and the guy driving works at a Toyota dealership in the paint/body shop. He was very kind, very nice, and very apologetic. He gave me everything - license, reg, insurance - and asked if I could go through him instead of calling the police. I get his insurance info just in case, but I called him this morning and we'll work something out where I drop the car off Tuesday, they'll do whatever needs to be done, I get a loaner, end of story. Seems fair to me. At least I'll get those scratches out...
  13. Statesman is a pretty lousy name. Too staid, too old school even for Buick. Plus, it reminds me of Diplomat.
  14. The SAAB's upper dash display wasn't really a HUD.
  15. I'm surprised, too. Honda Insight.
  16. Its never been the badging, merely the placement. For example... Tahoe = good. Corvette = not so much.
  17. Bobo hasn't gotten the chance to post a picture of his new car, so I'll do it for him...
  18. I don't know why people keep raggin on the DTS. It has the crappy occupation of keeping the traditional set in the fold with full knowledge it'll die very soon. For what it is, its a good car.
  19. I shall stop when Mercedes starts making true luxury cars once again - automobiles that cater to the preferred, not the lessee; cars with sensible German engineering that combines precision and dilligence with potency and elegance; cars whose defects are an odometer that sticks because its rolled over so many times, not a self-leveling suspension that can't level itself or radar brakes that don't work. In other words, when Mercedes builds a Mercedes. Like None Other.

    ....

Completely different segments. Think of the FX/X5/M-Class as Nomads and the Pacifica/Freestyle/Enclave as Kingswood Estates. SRX falls somewhere in between due to its spaciousness and available third-row, but the Pacifica is geared towards the family while FX, et al are meant for car buyers or QX4 owners that are sick of people asking what kind of Pathfinder they have.
  21. Optional leather. Hillarious. Like None Other.

    Death of the V8?

An eight-cylinder car has an allure a six-cylinder doesn't. That alone will sell.
  23. Hello. My name is Bob Plunkett. I write puff...er, reviews. I also read these when I have free time...
  24. Those things are damn ugly... Corvair headlamps grafted onto some chintzy Eastern Bloc body.
