This is the next-generation Prius, guys. 100% post consumer material.

Pylon-mounted overwing jets make sense for certain applications, mostly rough field operations like the AN-72/74 would conduct since intakes mounted that high are less likely to suck in debris - or seaspray in the case of the Beriev posted above.

Can I just tell you that the thought of a person sitting down at the table to eat on Quaker oatmeal square is making me laugh my ass off?

A Sable? Try BON. Ugh. Just kidding! Welcome to the posting world of C&G, Sam! So sue me, but I always had a soft spot for the Ford bubble wagons as they were some of the last true affordable station wagons you could buy. Glad to have you posting here. Obviously you like us enough to come out and say 'hi', so back at you.

What do any of these 'concerns' have to do with USS Iowa? Its USS IOWA for crying out loud. What a great addition it would've made to a city as historic and vital to the Pacific Theatre as San Francisco... BTW, is this a recent thing or am I just not caught up with things?

Serious question - how about cutting back on unnecessary recreational driving?

'GM's New Brand Strategy: Chevy Uber Alles'
Flybrian replied to HarleyEarl's topic in General Motors
Agreed with the main crux of the article, one that most of us acknowledge and share, but again...the idea of consolidating B-P-GMC into Chevrolet is retarded. Chevrolet Buick? That's just stupid. This overlap is not just a problem at GM, mind you. Chrysler also suffers from it with their LX cars. How come a Charger SE rolls in with more power, more features, and a smaller price tag (by thousands) compared to a 300? A few of their other products also do/have done this, such as the Chrysler Voyager. Anyhow, styling does make the difference and Pontiac arguably has the winner in the scenario you presented. However, GM needs to make powertrains and feature content a differentiator as well. As I indicated, I think this is completely managable with a three-tier Volume/Premium/Luxury grouping mentioned by me. You can see where B-P-GMC is already being consolidated into one marketing outlet and the latest vehicles from the first and the last definitely showcase that premium image. Allowing Pontiac and Saturn to share a roadster (where there is little overlap in branding) rather than the almost bespoken Pontiac-Chevrolet bequeathing is a great start. -
Acceptable for their place in the market. Pontiac does need a kick in volume and the G5 and Torrent do just that. My main problems with both are not their sheetmetal or interiors, but their powertrains. Pontiac should get exclusive boost in power for the Torrent (3.9l) and G5 (turbo Ecotec) to seperate them from their Chevrolet sisters.

I'd have my girlfriend post, but I think she'd be frightened.

I would argue that these both represent decent and acceptable levels of badge engineering. Cases like the CSVs are ones that shouldn't be repeated.

Why is the RL figure highlighted? Just an error? -
Customer upset over Taco Bell "sauce wisdoms" Tuesday, June 06, 2006 Posted: 08:18 PM Link' WESLACO – One Valley woman says the slogan on Taco Bell’s sauce packets is offensive. As part of Taco Bell’s “Think outside the bun” campaign, the company held a contest last year for slogans to be printed on their sauce packets. Customers submitted their ideas, like “When I grow up I want to be a waterbed” and “You had me at taco”. The one that bothers Jessica Luna says, “Not to be used as a flotation device”. She tells NEWSCHANNEL 5, “Somewhere along their roots here, somebody came across the border from Mexico. Risking their lives to provide a better a life for their children. This is just a mockery.” Luna says she enjoys Taco Bell’s food and has always eaten there a lot. But she wants the company to re-think its campaign. We asked the company about the slogans. Director of Public Relations Rob Poetsch said, “Our Sauce Wisdoms are not directed at any specific group of people or at any specific region and are meant to inspire and entertain.” We asked other people what they thought about the company’s humor. Customer Olga Garza said, “They don't bother me. They're not that funny, but they don't bother me.” Many told us they will still eat at the restaurant, despite their “tasteless” humor. The company admits it has had a number of complaints about the packet. After our story aired, it decided to remove the one with the reference to a flotation device.

The bad thing about this board is that there are few chicks to post pictures. So, one would think all the guys would at least post some hot random chicks. But no. Just more pics of guys. j/k

Speaking for myself, the big thing here is your disgust over it being a "gas hog" when it really isn't. You bought this car a few months ago when gas wasn't that much cheaper, you knew it took premium, and the mileage you're getting for a car that type/age is pretty in line. Maybe it uses too much gas for you, in which case that dinky little Metro you poopooed may have been the ideal choice. It would be difficult to get less than 30mpg. Also, Z is right. Premium fuel in a car like that doesn't mean extra gas mileage; it means meeting specified performance.

Hey, with temps like this...

You forgot to mention... Oh, and by the way, the CSVs are officially dead. July, 2006: 8297 - combined July, 2005: 9278 - Uplander only

Mitsubishi sales releases resemble what the engine coolant probably looks like in Sixty8's cars...murky. Why do they keep comparing figures versus last year and using percentages, not numbers? Lancer EVO sales up 58% means what, 800 units this year versus 336 last year? A 14% increase in Eclipse sales means 372 more cars were sold this year. This is an achievement? Where are the Galant numbers? Outlander? I haven't seen Raider figures in ages.

Whoa! Blast from the past...its Alpha!

Unless it has under 50k miles or was owned by Burt Reynolds or something, $8995 is pretty steep.

I average 19-22mpg and not only must I fill my tank with premium, I have to fill my 20 gallon tank with premium. I also drive a whole lot for both work and pleasure and use the a/c constantly, unlike many of you who can afford not to 9 months out of the year. A full tank for me costs $61.00 and that goes by in a week and a half - if I'm lucky. A car requiring regular unleaded saves me $4 per tank. I think I can not spend $4 a week somewhere. $4 isn't even a value meal anymore. Its barely a kids meal. Mid-20s is not a gas hog by any means. I don't know what exactly you're expecting for a decade-old car with that many miles on it, 30mpg? 40? Check the plugs, clean out your throttle body, clean your air filter, follow Z's tips, and that's all you can do. I forgot how much you got that car for, $1500? An 'economical' car in good condition would've likely cost twice that. You saved almost 500 gallons of gas over a $3000 car that is likely not going to return much more than 30mpg given the way you - and most of us - drive. How much did your Grand Am get? Likely not that much more. And what do you enjoy more? There's your answer.

'GM's New Brand Strategy: Chevy Uber Alles'

That idea is retarded. Here's a less retarded idea: Chevrolet - Volume Buick/Pontiac/GMC - Premium Cadillac/SAAB/HUMMER - Luxury Saturn - Saturn's dealer network operates independantly...I guess. B/P/GMC volume is sustainable with Pontiac covering the lower-end up to midsize focusing on performance, Buick taking midsize and above, focusing on luxury without the price, and GMC doing the same with trucks. In this sense, Buick still needs a van, not GMC.
