  1. You should certainly check your oil frequently and change it if necessary, even if its 3000 miles. But the 3000 mile oil change is a myth, especially with modern synthetics, a clean engine, and an oil life monitor. Even the manual for my '76 recommends a 6mo/7500mi interval, which I've found to be on par with my Aurora's oil life monitor.
  2. Hyundais don't have much power, so the surprise is doubly frightening.

    C.I.B v-6s

Two V6s with various features would be nice, such as 3.6/3.6 DI/3.6 DI Turbo/3.6 Supercharged or what have you. Have a smaller-displacement unit for use in Alpha cars. Also, a selection of Diesel V6s.
  4. Three words: "Keine Diesel Cadillac"
  5. Down at the outlet mall in Ellenton, some guy in an Armada actually followed my girlfriend and I out to our car a good 1500 feet or so deep in the parking lot. Unnecessarily close, too; I could feel the ugliness creeping up on me. Needless to say I took for-ev-ah - opened the door for her, put our things in the trunk, got in myself, turned the key, got back out, took something from the trunk, put it in the backseat, got out again, popped the hood, stared at the engine for about thirty seconds, closed it, went to the backseat, got the bag I had put there and put it back in the trunk, got back in, diddled with the radio and the woman was STILL THERE! I would estimate a good five minutes elapsed at the car alone, not counting walking time. Sweet irony came when I pulled out because she was so close to me she had to back up several feet so I could get out. Just at that moment, this older couple in a Milan drove around the corner, put on their signal (the woman in the Armada never did), I waved them into the spot, and we drove away laughing our asses off. I mean c'mon. It wasn't even a good parking space. P.S. CLICKY ~47 seconds in.
  6. Okay, here's a problem. The ad in Car & Driver directs people to a Page Not Found. Uhhh...
  7. Did you tell him he's driving a baby's head on wheels?
  8. Why is that not a surprise?
  9. No way. Steering wheels from vintage cars had personality, were well-designed, and looked classy. Even Plymouths had rather ornate steering wheels. It just strikes me as weird that a 'luxury' car would have such a blandtastic Primestar reciever for a steering wheel when there's no airbag to necessitate it. A '72 200 And upon looking at this older wheel, you could totally jam an airbag into that. Again, IMO. I love vintage Mercedes despite some of their slightly incohesive details, but the steering wheels are unbearable. If I ever had one, that would be swap # 1.
  10. They need an essay section asking 'What exactly about your country sucks so bad that you were compelled to move?' Tell me that wouldn't be a fun read.
  11. I do have to laugh at the awful steering wheel and ginormous gauge cluster clock. WTF? indeed. However, these will never die. Slow? Ja. Ugly? Ja. Smoke-belching? Ja. But kill-proof. What a Mercedes should be but isn't anymore.
  12. Very good rationalization, Hyperv6. Thanks for that.
  13. Great choice and welcome to C&G! Please take plenty of photos to share when you take delivery!
  14. Its been awhile since he's said anything, which would explain this statement...
  15. Fixed and amen. For some reason, the ES350 is looked upon as some sort of aspriring, quality piece. It isn't. Frankly, the current LaCrosse is more attractive in CXL/S trims than the dowdy, pucked ES. Some people just need an attitude adjustment and a reality check that just because you would never buy a Buick doesn't mean others won't. What's the most popular premium car in China again? Yeah...
  16. It metaphorically 'knows where you're looking.' Adapatvie headlamps turn with the steering wheel. Parallel park mirror dips down when reverse is engaged. Rearview camera displays in reverse. So, it 'follows' your actions in that sense.
  17. Uh...Hamtramck like it says?
  18. I'm going to make the brash statment now that the color choices are horrible. Additionally, G8s have red taillamps; GTs have cleared ones.
  19. What if you read, "...employing GM's innovative Urban Assist technology to save fuel even while stationary or idling in traffic, the most inefficient phase of driving"?
  20. I'm no chopper, but something's coming up
  21. SPY SHOTS! Cadillac CTS Diesel Spotted Undergoing Testing Link to Original Article @ World Car Fans No, this isn't a half clapped-out Cadillac CTS. Infact, it's a new diesel version of the CTS undergoing testing on European soil. The oil-burning CTS is being tested on the European continent due to its abundance of engineers with experience of diesel technology and has been thought up to tackle the increasing diesel-powered segment in the States, as well as to offer a viable alternative to petrol CTS models in world markets. Our source suggests that the 1.9-litre turbodiesel unit used in the BLS is likely not to make the Stateside CTS line-up, with the introduction of Opel's 184 hp 3.0-litre V6 being the preferred powertrain. However, capable of 56 mpg on the combined cycle, the 1.9-litre unit may make a late range entry should the V6 take initial preference. Opel's 3.0 V6 as featured in the Vectra range provides a 41 mpg combined figure. While the transplanting of the GM stablemate's 3.0 V6 into the CTS is likely, the in-house engineered unit of choice for the firm may very well be a 2.9-litre V6 turbodiesel, premiered at this year's Geneva Motor Show. It was however maintained in an announcement at the show that the 250 hp unit was likely to be sold only in European-spec Cadillacs, taking on Europe's finest with the all-new engine. Speculation is sure to be rife ahead of the oil-burning CTS' debut, so stay with us for further details. More Photos @ World Car Fans --The original article does say STS...but its totally not.
  22. I'll be honest in saying I never really experimented much with fuel mixtures. My two 87 tanks averaged around 13mpg, down from an average of 19-20mpg. It just wasn't worth the twenty-cent disparity between 87 and 93 that we have down here. Most people with Auroras may have tried it once, but never stick with lower octanes. 91 or 93 all the way. As far as maintenance, I've had much of the work done by my local Superior/Goodyear garage. Some things within the block are proprietary and some mechanics simply don't have some of the tools, but I haven't encountered this yet. Ask him first if he services Northstars.
  23. Think we've got a winner.
  24. Unfortunately, I'm pretty sure its not a GMC. Sierra HDs had that chrome bar between the upper and lower headlamp units; Silverados' were body-colored. These are body-colored. Also, the amber reflector portions wrap around alot more and are rounded, not 'angrily' angled. Here's my not-so-subtle submission:
