Dude. Its a $12,000 car. Hyundai's $30k+ Azera has two dead panels. Bitch about that. Anyway, Yaris what? They should be fighting with each other because they can't compete with this.

There's something wrong with the grille. Probably that piece just on the bottom of the Nissan badge. Nicer steering wheel, but the rear end sucks with that caved in big-ass Maxima treatment. OMG THREE AIR VENTS ON TEH CENTER CONSOLE LETS ALL MAK FUN OF IT LEK WE ID TEH GRAND AM!!!!11111

Better than the old Sentra; then again, what isn't? Yet another horrible Nissan three-spoke wheel design, though a more realistically-sized wheel (*cough*ELANTRA*cough*) is noted and appreciated. Also, Cobalt has gas struts. Why can't the Sentra?

Very, very handsome for such a cheap car. I'd take it anyday over the Yaris based on comfort (sat in both), styling, price, and - most importantly - gauge location.

Keep it. The Aveo doesn't look that much worse inside for alot less money. Also, I hate steering wheels that small. Plus, its a Hyundai and Hyundais say "I can't even afford a Honda."

No matter what, we'll always come back to atomic power. Its our destiny, really. Its just too bad most Americans are too ignorant of the facts or too whipped by media horror stories of Chernobyl to realize it.

Likely the hybrids you've seen now are imported.

Simple fact is a well-engineered 5- or 6-speed automatic would operate at lower RPMs across the powerband than a 4-speed, improving performance, fuel economy, and reducing wear on the engine. 7-seeds or higher, however, seems pointless and a rote numbers game for virtually every car. Oldsmoboi is right, though. GM 4-speed hydramatics are reknowned for having better shift quality and smoothness even over many newer 5- and 6-speeds. General Motors simply knows how to make one helluva automatic, one that doesn't shift, but instead gently wafts you from gear to gear.

Um, whoever owns the display cars do that themselves so people won't steal them for themselves. Also, few cars today come with ashtrays. And the pricetag is in Canadian dollars.

Did he ever maintain his braking system?

They aren't horrible, considering no accident yet has been my fault. Its a bit disconcerting that the only area thus far not hit on my car is the driver's side. I hope that day doesn't come...

God bless you, GM, for making a freaking truck. You and Ford are the only two manufacturers designing pickup trucks anymore...

Aura's is branded TAPShift as well. Less cheesy than '4MATIC' on the back of a Mercedes.

What is this A/C excise tax?

My first accident with the Aurora occured when a Toyota 4Runner backed into me at the mall, damaging my hood and bumper guard. My second accident occured when a Ford Mustang plowed into me on the beach, crippling my car just as I drove it home as it had busted a tie rod, right fender, bumper cover, and A/C compressor. My third accident occured when a Toyota Solara ran into me as I was stopped at a pedestrian crosswalk, causing minimal damage to the rear bumper cover. My fourth accident occured when a Toyota Tundra sideswiped me as my car sat minding its own business in a parking lot at Home Depot, nearly totalling the car and necessitating repair of pretty much the entire passenger side. My fifth accident occured tonight when a second-generation Toyota Avalon hopped a curb and plowed into the left front quarter of my car. That sounds a whole lot worse than it is. Luckily for me, no airbag deployment and all of my lights even work, though the driver's hi-beam will blind Cessna pilots right now.damage is...minimal to moderate, about a 4/10 based on what I've been through. I can tell immediately it'll require likely a new bumper cover (my third), repair to the fender, and likely a new cornering lamp assembly, though it works fine. Of course, repaint of all affected parts. Fender is pushed slightly back into the door panel, so they touch just barely, but not that badly. Strightening will fix it. She has Progressive, too. Older woman (50-60ish) and very apologetic. Admitted she was on her phone - albeit handsfree - and let it get the best of her. Exchanged info via a police white paper (FREE ACCIDENT TIP TO ALL: ALWAYS CALL THE POLICE NO MATTER WHO/WHERE/WHEN YOU'VE BEEN HIT!!!!!) and an accident report was written - her fault, of course. No pics tonight. Girlfriend has the digi and I'm hungry. Taking it to Progressive's office Monday, so I'll get a rental on the spot, guessing an Altima or G6 based on what they generally have. I like Progressive and how they do thing, giving you a pager and all. Ocn, I think I can become your apprentice at this point.

Anyone need a little extra time?

Its a good vehicle, so his bitches are strained. The quality of the parts may not be the best, but feel around a Prius - junk. No one listens to Consumer Reports except for Consumer Reports and a lack of 4WD is a pretty irrational con in this segment.

I'd rather have an actual car, thank you, like a TSX wagon. I still don't like tiny stuff like this regardless of who makes it

9-7X Flies to New Heights: Saab Announces Altitude Edition DETROIT - Saab's first-ever SUV is flying to new heights with the 2007 9-7X Altitude Edition. Only 500 of these specially-outfitted SUVs will be available for the 2007 model year, making it a limited edition with very exclusive appeal. Beyond the extremely rich standard equipment of the 9-7X, the Altitude Edition includes 18" alloy polished wheels, and side assist steps, a rear DVD player, and an exclusive carbon fiber gray metallic paint. The package will be offered at a savings of nearly $1,000 than if the items were ordered individually. The package is available on the six-cylinder 9-7X 4.2i and the 9-7X 5.3I V8 - which will bring the total vehicle price (MSRP, destination charge and Altitude package) to $42,130 and $44,130, respectively. For 2007, OnStar-equipped 9-7X models will feature a new service called OnStar Turn-by-Turn Navigation, the first factory-installed, fully-integrated GPS navigation system from OnStar. Turn-by-Turn allows consumers to talk to a live advisor, who in turn sends complete step-by-step directions to customers' vehicles through their OnStar system. Also in 2007, a Tire Pressure Monitoring System becomes standard equipment on the 9-7X, and one new color, Crystal Blue metallic, has been added. The Saab 9-7X, which debuted in the summer of 2005, brings unique Saab characteristics to the SUV segment, including sophisticated styling inside and out, premium quality and design features, and sporty and fun-to-drive performance. Additionally, this SUV has a high-level of standard equipment, which is offered to consumers at a surprisingly reasonable price.

After Deep Cuts, GM Expects To See Profits on Small Cars By NEAL E. BOUDETTE = September 14, 2006 Link to Original Article @ Wall Street Journal.com DANA POINT, Calif. -- The deep structural cost cuts General Motors Corp. put in place this year should enable the auto maker to finally make money on small cars, the company's vice chairman said. For years, most if not all compact cars made by GM and its Detroit rivals Ford Motor Co. and DaimlerChrysler AG's Chrysler Group have lost money, in large part because of the extra costs they carry to pay for health care and pensions for thousands of retired hourly workers. But GM last year reached an agreement with the United Auto Workers to slash health care costs, and this year offered buyouts that will cut its unionized workforce by about a third by the end of the year. Those savings and others stemming from planned plant closures and other measures will lower GM's fixed costs by about $9 billion next year, the company has said. That's enough to enable GM to begin making money on small cars, Vice Chairman Robert Lutz said in an interview in southern California. Until the cost cuts were put in place, GM's North American operations had fixed costs of about $40 billion a year -- the equivalent of about $8,000 for every car GM North America made, Mr. Lutz said. "All our small cars were unprofitable" with costs at that level, he said. He declined to say how much GM North America's per-car fixed costs will be once the 9 billion in cost reductions kick in next year. But he said the savings will change the profit picture on GM's small cars. The Chevrolet Cobalt, he said, is already generating profits. "We now make money on that car," he said. The Cobalt, a compact sedan, has also been helped by increased demand while gasoline price hovered above $3 a gallon this summer. GM also changed its pricing strategy to reduce rebates and other incentives that eat into its margins. The Cobalt is now selling without any major cash incentives, Mr. Lutz said. That also helps the car turn a profit. The three Detroit car makers used to offset their losses on small cars with oversized profits on sports utility vehicles and pick up trucks. But sales of SUVs and trucks have sagged and incentives on them have increased, pushing all three car makers into financial difficulty and forcing them to find ways to make money on cars.
