FOR RELEASE: 2006-10-03 Eight universities to hold Chevy Aveo "Livin' Large" Campus Challenge Contestants to live for five days around the clock and broadcast by web cam; team with most votes wins brand-new 2007 Chevrolet Aveos Detroit – Two-student teams from eight universities across the U.S. will be selected to participate in the challenge of a lifetime to win a new 2007 Chevrolet Aveo by staying in continuous contact with the car for five days and demonstrating just how large a lifestyle they can lead in the car by attracting as much in-person and online attention as possible. Students will compete in the Chevy Aveo “Livin’ Large” Campus Challenge October 23 – 27 with teams from seven other universities to rack up the most online votes through the creativity, ingenuity and sheer entertainment value they exhibit during the week to persuade people to go online to vote for them. The contestants, who must be in good academic standing, will be able to leave the car only to attend class and for periodic bio-breaks. The remainder of the time they must be in the car or be touching it. Web cams mounted both inside and outside the car will stream video footage to Aveolivinlarge.com so web surfers can see what the contestants are doing and vote for their favorite team. Contestants also are expected to help direct traffic to the “Livin’ Large” site through their personal Facebook and MySpace Web pages. “Challengers will be left to their own devices to secure items they’ll need to get through the week,” said Ed Peper, Chevrolet General Manager. “This may mean relying on friends, classmates or even strangers to bring them pizza, a bottle of water or a sweater. This campaign is all about creativity and how college students can live large in an Aveo, demonstrating how the Aveo perfectly fits the lifestyle of a college student.” To keep things interesting contestants are encouraged to stage creative and entertaining activities from the Aveo to draw traffic to the car and the “Livin’ Large” web site where viewers can vote for their favorite team. “The more interesting they make their five days in the Aveo, the more likely they are to rack up votes from viewers across the country and even around the world,” said Peper. “We’ll also stage daily contests where the students will compete in real-time challenges.” At the end of five days, votes will be tallied, and the students on the team with the most votes will each win a brand new 2007 Chevy Aveo. The winning contestants’ university also will be awarded a car. Participating universities include • Boston University • University of Florida • Howard University • Michigan State University • Northwestern University • University of Southern California • Syracuse University • Texas Christian University To sign up to participate in the Chevy Aveo” Livin’ Large” Campus Challenge, interested students from these universities must visit the “Livin’ Large” Web site at Aveolivinlarge.com to fill out an online application. Potential contestants must explain how they plan to “live large” and why they should be selected to represent their university and the Chevrolet Aveo. The Chevy Aveo “Livin’ Large” program is also an academic endeavor that offers students practical experience in communications and public relations around the launch of the all-new 2007 Chevy Aveo. Chevy is working with Public Relations Student Society of America (PRSSA) chapters to help tailor the program to each university and to execute the campaign. “PRSSA is very excited about partnering with Chevrolet to offer our student members such valuable hands-on experience with the launch of a new vehicle,” said Jeneen C. Garcia, director of education for the Public Relations Society of America (PRSA). “By organizing and promoting the campaign for their campuses and employing the latest online word-of-mouth communications strategies, they will have the opportunity to leverage their own expertise with new media tools that are being used by today's public relations professionals.” About Chevrolet Aveo Originally introduced in January of 2004, the Aveo is Chevy’s entry-level small car. Aveo has a starting price of $9,995. The newly designed 2007 Aveo sedan expresses “youthful refinement” and is described as being high in style and progressive in attitude. The 2007 Aveo offers generous standard features such as an auxiliary iPod jack and standard front and side airbags. Numerous options such as a premium audio system with steering-wheel mounted controls, 6-CD changer, remote keyless entry and power sunroof are unique in this segment. About Chevrolet Chevrolet is America’s No. 1-selling automotive brand. With the largest dealer network in the United States, Chevy is the leader in full-size trucks and the leader in sales of vehicles priced $35,000 and above. Chevrolet delivers more-than-expected value in every vehicle category, offering cars and trucks priced from $9,995 to $78,175. Chevy delivers expressive design, spirited performance and great value with standard features usually found only on more expensive vehicles. About the Public Relations Student Society of America The Public Relations Student Society of America (www.prssa.org) is the world's pre-eminent, pre-professional public relations organization. Founded in 1968 by its parent Society, PRSA, the organization has grown to more than 9,000 members and 275 Chapters at colleges and universities in 43 states and the District of Columbia. ----------------------------------- I'm glad to see Chevrolet exhibiting some consistancy here, carrying through with the original 'It's Big on the Inside' theme. Plus, its cool to cram people in cars and get attention. Oh, and if by a longshot a C&G member gets selected, let us know!

Their volume-oriented philosophy manifests itself in its mediocre new offerings, like an alleged family car with 14 cuft of trunk space.

Team Cobalt Looks to Win First Grand-Am Cup Series Championship for Chevrolet Chevy Locked in Tight Battle atop Standings after Finishing Third in 2005 Rookie Season Link to Press Release @ GMMedia WARREN, Mich. - Team Cobalt began the 2006 Grand-Am Cup Series season with the goal of winning Chevrolet's first Street Tuner class Manufacturer's Championship, and heading into the final race of the season next weekend at Virginia International Raceway, the goal is still within reach. Powered by five Chevy Cobalt SS Supercharged race cars and supported by GM Performance Division's experienced team of race engineers, Team Cobalt will look to finish as far ahead of the competition from Acura and BMW as possible during the six hours of racing on Sunday, Oct. 8 to secure Chevrolet's first title in the Series. "The math is fairly simple," said GM Performance Division's Ken Wasmer, whose engineering team provides technical support for all Cobalt SS Supercharged entrants in the Grand-Am Cup Series. "If a Cobalt SS Supercharged wins the race, Chevrolet wins the Manufacturer's Championship." With five wins on the season going into the 2006 finale, Chevy is locked in a fierce battle atop the Manufacturer's points standings, trailing by only two points. Drivers Jamie Holtom and Eric Curran have led the pack for Team Cobalt in 2006 with four wins in the #01 Georgian Bay Motorsports/ClearSCADA Cobalt, and will look to duplicate their season-opening victory at VIR this past April. In addition to Curran and Holtom, the #00 Georgian Bay/SCADAPack Cobalt will be driven by Jamie's father, Jim, and Daniel Colembie. They've finished on the podium once this year, and Colembie has qualified on the pole. There will also be a third #0 car piloted by Bo Roach and Tom Lepper. Team Cobalt California's two cars will be driven by VJ Mirzayan and John Trefethen, and by Aaron Povoledo and team newcomer Christopher Zakin. Povoledo and Brian O'Shaugnessey earned the Manufacturer's points for Chevy at Miller Motorsports Park in Utah on Sep. 2 with a ninth place finish. Team Cobalt California will have some additional pit crew assistance on race day as several members, volunteers and parents of Special Olympics Virginia - Halifax County Program will help prepare the team's two racecars and then join them at the finish line. Powell Motorsport has also contributed to Chevy's position in the 2006 points standings with a win by Marc-Antoine Camirand and Dave Thilenius at Trois-Rivières on Aug. 6. "Team Cobalt has great depth and a number of talented drivers in its ranks, and when you combine that with solid car preparation by all our teams and excellent pit stop strategy, we're hard to beat," added Wasmer. "There were 33 cars from nine manufacturers here in April and we expect even more for this race, so our preparation and strategy will be crucial." The GM Performance Division offers all Cobalt SS Supercharged entrants a contingency program along with the engineering technical support currently provided at every Grand-Am Cup race. The program awards contingency money for every Top Five finish: $5,000 for a win, $3,000 for second, $2,000 for third, $1,000 for fourth and $500 for fifth place. Engineered by GM Performance Division, the Cobalt SS Supercharged is the most powerful and agile of the model line, with a suspension developed on Germany's famed Nurburgring race track and a 2.0-liter ECOTEC Supercharged engine named among the industry's 10-Best Engines for 2006 by the editors of Ward's Communications. GM Performance Division develops compelling, low volume, high-performance production and specialty vehicles, including the 205 hp Chevrolet Cobalt SS Supercharged, 395 hp Chevy Trailblazer SS and 400hp Chevy SSR; the 400 hp CTS-V, 469 hp STS-V and 443 hp XLR-V from the Cadillac V-Series; and the 205 hp Saturn ION Red Line.

As most of you may have noticed, none of you have yet received your promised prizes for winning competitions. Please know you haven't been forgotten about. Our C&G account is very low because of recent purchases of spy photography as well as the big down payment we had to put down for two years of hosting. Because of this, I'm pretty much paying for these prizes out of my pocket. The prizes are - as somewhat stated - going to be small trinkets, things like keychains, toy diecasts, etc. Nothing like an actual car or something grandiose, but a little relevant prize nonetheless that we hope you'll appreciate. Rest assured again that winners will receive prizes! Just give me some time to get them all together. Once we're caught up with prize distribution, expect receipt of your prize 1-2 weeks after winners are announced. Thanks for the understanding.

Whatever that new Volvo retractable hardtop is. Brand-new. Driven by some old crippled guy with a scooter thing on the back. Nice.

Foley should've known better. That's cut-and-dry and everyone knows it. But to think the kid was totally innocent? I don't think so. Teenagers can indeed be manipulative and if he really didn't like it, he could've logged off.
-
Yup. Even...
-
Has it entered anyone's mind that Congressman Foley's House district encompasses West Palm Beach? Middle-aged man... Closeted... Like chatting online with young boys... Perverted in nature... Hmmmammmrmmmrmmmymmm...

Who bought the I35?

Okay, I believe it now. Its clear where the boost comes from - economical vehicles and the RAV4. Camry sales are stangnant, but can they really go any higher? Methinks not.

Sept. 2006 Sales: Mitsubishi Motors North America
Flybrian replied to Variance's topic in 2006 Sales Archive
Its funny because you have to file FOIA papers to find any real tangible Mitsubishi sales figures. They never mention the Raider or Endevour anymore, they boast about some CUV they're releasing two months from now, and they keep referencing ambiguous milestones like, "Lancer sales up 48% over September 19th, 2005" or "Eclipse up 80% over last September's Tuesdays." Also, month to month this year, Mitsubishi's sales are plateaued, showing deflections of several hundred units (if that) either way. But, instead of 'stagnant,' they spin it as 'consistant,' i.e. "Despite the new Eclipse and revamps in models over the past few years, Mitsubishi is a consistant loser in the sales field." I just wonder how much longer this is going to tread water. Galant was supposed to turn Mitsu around. Then, the Eclipse was supposed to turn Mitsu around. Now the Outlander is? Doubtful -
I need to see actual figures.

Mitsubishi makes me laugh. -
It is? I'll look into it.

You know how I know you're gay...? Anyway, don't worry. I'm sure Congressman Foley is looking for a spry young stud like yourself.

Neither your shoe, nor your Millenia.Tie
-
Okay, in which case, I'm even more frightened. I didn't like that thing at all. Looked like a shoe. So maybe its a Millenia rival.
-
Maybe its me, but upon further consideration, why would you want navigation in this car? Isn't a MINI the kind of vehicle where you hop in and drive around half-aimlessly just for fun?
-
Tell me, though, that an 8-speed released a year or so after Mercedes' 7-speed isn't just a dick-measuring contest...

Blame the Japanese for Front wheel drive

Cimastain, take a time out on the cursing and check the abrasive attitude at the door. Thank you. -
Why does Infiniti even need something like the QX? Why not a three-row FX?
