I'll sacrifice two MPG for an engine that isn't a pile.

Like two Passats worth of buttons?

Its not just the wheel size, its the wheel well-to-fender proportioning. I've noticed lately many imported cars are being designed with bulkier rear haunces, namely the M3/45, Passat, Jetta, and Avalon. This has the effect of making larger wheels, even 17" and 18" rims, look dinky. Contrast that with something like a LeSabre or an older Acura with a more appropriate well-to-fender ratio and smaller 16" wheels - even as small as standard 15" on some LeSabres - don't look dinky at all.

No GM car I know of has a too-small steering wheel. And I'm am seriously appalled at why the Corolla continues to sell as it does, just as I was amazed at how the subpar 2002-2006 Camry continued to hold the best-selling title. Versus the Corolla, the ION/Cobalt/G5 and Focus are cheaper and offer more bodystyles, the Koreans offer better warranties, the Civic is far more refined, the 3 is more appealing, and the Golf is more sporting. All of the above simply looked better. I would say it and the last Sentra tied for overall compact lousiness. And I've seriously never driven a compact car that felt as unstable as a Corolla.

What the Vibe really needs is a selection of Ecotecs and better drivetrain combinations. Its extrodinarily disappointing to realize the only way to get the 'best' 1.8l is to get the GT with a stixk only and several thousand added to the price tag. Any variation of Toyota's 1.8l is a waste of everyone's time.

Also, the Bently looks good.

New Buick Lucerne CXS Buick LaCrosse Super Pontiac Grand Prix GXP Pontiac GTO GMC Sierra GMC Colorado Used 2003+ Buick Park Avenue Ultra 2001+ Oldsmobile Aurora 4.0 '97+ Buick Regal GS '97+ Oldsmobile Intrigue GLS Silverado/Sierra Colorado/Canyon 9C1 Impala/Crown Vic Interceptor These are realistic choices for my father and I in the coming year. As you can tell, no imports allowed. Period. That, and I like big cars.

Whoever thinks Corollas are refined needs to put a few thousand miles on one. I did. Well, on two. Uncomfortable, unstable, lousy road manners, crappy handling, irritating engines, cheapness abounding, misaligned-by-design interior pieces, crappy radio, too-small steering wheel... I'd take a golf cart over a Corolla because I don't feel I'll tip over rounding a corner driving a golf cart.

I ask because I saw yet another one today - white, with chrome wheels - just cruising down to the beach. I pass it and just observe it as I do and I could shake the feeling I had that this was likely the single ugliest automobile I have ever seen on the road. Seriously. The rear is too tapered and contorted. The car is too tall and way too narrow for being so tall. And the headlamps are so small they look just plain stupid. I would say this looks like one of those cheesy Zimmer kitcars but some Zimmers look damn nice. Is something wrong with me? Shouldn't I be appreciating this rolling hunk of what's left of stout British pride? I like pretty much every other Rolls ever made, even the ones from the seventies that most people hate. I just absolutely detest this one. Am I alone here?

Wow. Another pointless day. Sorry, but not everything needs to have its own day. I'm with Z.

Okay, so I have to argue what the big deal is after I see some Toyota commercial showing their car driving through classic 'Americana' and concluding with an Avalon driving up a dirt road to a farmhouse with the sun setting over a barn and some horses running up to the fence.

Hey, Mr. Old-Timer. Try and tell two late-80s Japanese cars apart. Checkmate! :AH-HA_wink:

I'll take an SRX because it won't take a briefing from the commander of the 434th Tactical Fighter Wing for me to operate it.

Would you rather have Buick represented by this guy? http://www.youtube.com/watch?v=0PMFwqzbCPQ&NR

Sweet Christ on the cross, I came back from Publix not thirty minutes ago and some future high school dropouts are trying to ghost ride in a vacant lot across from the store with some beat-up Jetta III. Someone call Dateline...we need an expose.

Saw a silver and a red one at Dayton Andrews. I'm totally checking them out this week! Any requests for pics, etc?

How can the media be so confused about what plane this is? If its a Cirrus 20, then its a Cirrus SR20, which means its not a twin-engine plane. Ugh. Anyway, from what witness were describing (starboard wing dropping suddenly, followed by aircraft slowly attempting to level off), it sounds like a stall.
-
The commercial backfires because it makes you feel sympathy for the guy. And could his coworkers be any uglier, especially the ladies? I think the bitch that spits in the coffee is more of a threat to the environment..

They used the same technique for Cadillac with that ad everyone loved, 'Moments.' Three-quarters of the ad was classic car after classic car. Mercedes did the same with that 'rebirth' one where the car gets crushed and its 'life' flashes before it. Its what companies with heritage are able to do, and something most Japanese companies simply cannot.

I love when older folks try to understand... "It's all over the Internet and mostly related to this one rapper," RCMP Corporal Murray McCracken said. "If you are ghost riding, you're supposed to be listening to [E-40's] music at the time you're doing it. Otherwise, you're not doing it right."

I know my hurdle is not wanting to own a car that sounds like I'm giving someone a gut check and counteracting that with a block-and-roll... KIIIIIIIIIII-AH!

Um, what commercial were you guys watching? I can't believe I have to do this... Truck-related scenes - 6 Truck-unrelated scenes - 7 I didn't run a stopwatch, but I'm pretty sure the onscreen exposure time for truck-related scenes equals or exceeds the non-related ones. Also - aside from Rosa Parks and John Mellencamp singing - all of them are related to trucks, driving, the great outdoors, or the concept of working, same as any other truck commercial. This isn't even the full ad anyway because the runtime is just under twenty seconds. Probably part of some presentation, I have no idea. In any case, give me a break. I can't wait to see how Toyota will pour on its transplanted faux Texas "roots" when the Tundra debuts. I'm sure that will meet everyone's approval, how a Japanese company uses American patriotism and national pride to sell.

CVTs are junk.

If its based on the same platform, its going to be the same underwhelming, unstable bucket of crap the current one is.
