  1. Whoda thunk the Armada could look worse?
  2. Cars with the s/c 3800 also come with heavy-duty transmission to handle the extra torque output.

  4. FOR RELEASE: 2006-10-27 Let the "Livin' Large" Begin! Aveo "Livin' Large" Campus Challenge to begin Mon., October 30, at 8 a.m. Catch all the action at www.AveoLivinLarge.com Detroit – The Chevy Aveo “Livin’ Large” teams have been selected and are well on their way to showing how large a lifestyle they can lead while remaining in continuous contact with their Chevy Aveo for five days. Each team’s goal is to attract as much in-person and online attention as possible to get the most votes and be named the winner of three new 2007 Chevrolet Aveo sedans—one for each team member and one for their university. Participating contestants and their universities are • Jamie Williams and Allison Lavey; Boston University, Boston • Eric Schackne and Filup Molina; University of Florida, Gainesville, Fla. • Gerald Ashby and Evita Gates; Howard University, Washington D.C. • Arya Khatiwoda and Keriann Zolman; Michigan State University, East Lansing, Mich. • Neal Sales-Griffin and Mario Montes Sujo; Northwestern University, Evanston, Ill. • Dolce Wang and Anna Grigoryan; University of Southern California, Los Angeles • Chris Qualls and Cohlby Youtsey; Texas Christian University, Fort Worth, Tex. The contestants were chosen based on creativity shown in the application process. It is this creativity and entertainment value that will enable them to produce the kind of attention-getting consumer-generated media that will rack up the most online votes at www.AveoLivinLarge.com through the week to win the challenge. The contestants will be able to leave the car only to attend class and for periodic bio-breaks. The remainder of the time they must be in the car or be touching it. Web cams mounted both inside and outside the car will stream video footage to the Aveo Livin’ Large web site so web surfers can see what the contestants are doing and vote for their favorite team. Contestants also are expected to help direct traffic to the “Livin’ Large” site through their personal Facebook and MySpace Web pages. Contestants will stage various creative, entertaining and philanthropic activities from the Aveo to draw traffic to the car and the “Livin’ Large” web site where viewers can vote for their favorite team. “We’re looking for students to epitomize the Chevy Aveo ‘Livin’ Large’ theme and expect contestants who draw the most online votes to be the ones who really demonstrate through their activities what the Aveo is all about—expressive, stylish and fun,” said Ed Peper, Chevrolet General Manager. The Chevy Aveo Livin’ Large program is also an academic endeavor that offers students practical experience in communications and public relations around the launch of the all-new 2007 Chevy Aveo. Chevy is working with Public Relations Student Society of America (PRSSA) chapters to help tailor the program to each university and to execute the campaign.
  5. It makes up for the retarded Compass ads.
  6. I kid I kid
  7. 1987-1993. The Northstar System (remember that?) came online in '93, its final year. Pfft. Some GM fans you guys are.
  8. I also feel the '85 Seville is appropriate. For its time, it was probably the most uniquely-styled car on the road and a certain German manufacturer continues to bustleback cars in a different way. Although, in keeping with the Eldorado coupe/convertible lineage, an American Coachworks Eldorado would've been appropriate.
  9. I love it. Thirty-second Ad Sixty-second ad
  10. Would it shock you to learn I'd feel as safe parking a mid-range convertible in a 'depressed' neighborhood? Hookers and crack dealers don't slash roofs; bored suburban white kids do.
  11. And yet there as things we as GM owners take for granted, like oil life monitors, intuitive controls, doors that both lock and unlock automatically instead of just the former. automatic headlamps, and real driver's info centers, not a glorified six-inch radio display. Also, what's up with the total lack of load-leveling suspensions. Oh, wait, the $98,000 LS460L has it.
  12. Seems more or less a list of what's coming soon.
  13. I think a Huffy is more of a vehicle than a '93 Sonata.
  14. Yes, you need some unlame hubs. But otherwise, sweet.
  15. I'm sure it can outhandle some Fords, like the Five Hundred, and some Nissans, like the Quest, and some Toyotas, like the Avalon, too. I'd much rather have a 3er wagon. I just don't get this whole "let's make a naturally unsporting vehicle sporty by giving it a harsh, uncomfortable ride" deal.
  16. I'm going by hard data that infers 50-52% of all new Sonata sales are directly to rental agencies. Contrast that with the traditional 'fleet queen' (Malibu), which is ~65% and you'll see how sad that is for this 'great' new Hyundai.
  17. I didn't comment about any long-term quality or durability issues, just basic aspects of any Elantra, unless Hyundai chooses a special, annoying engine and extra thin sheetmetal for their fleeters. Stalling at a hair over 10k is also just bad.
  18. That generation Elantra is a piece of $h!, so sorry for your grandmother. The engine is buzzy and irritating, the radio sucks, the A/C sucks, the fuel economy isn't anything special, and the transmission whines like a little bitch. Its also extrodinarily uncomfortable after 30 minutes of driving. Plus, the entire car is very, very tinny. Slam the trunk and tell me you don't think the bumper is going to fall off. My Elantra was a blue '05 rental with 10k miles. It was also - until the Murano - the first rental car I had to return because it stalled out my third day of driving it for reasons unknown.
  19. ...and yet it'll still never outhandle a car.
  20. No, GM needs to do something with class.
  21. 'Journey' is a horrible trim name.
  22. Available at local Enterprise, Hertz, and Avis locations.

    Acura RDX

I just really don't understand the appeal of this entire segement. Why pay $30k+ for such a small and heavy vehicle that will never achieve the same fuel economy or performance as a wagon or hatch or sedan?

    Acura RDX

Maybe its just me, but wouldn't you rather have that same blown four and optional AWD in a nimbler and more attractive TSX sedan, wagon, or hatch?

    Buyer Beware!

Asus is high quality, no doubt.
