  1. Agreed on the basis of how many utterly lousy Daewoos I've seen. In reference to cars like the Camry (and Accord), they are the types of cars people wash when they get it for free with an 8gal fillup. The less passion a car inspires, the less appreciative an owner is. I've seen Cutlass Cieras in better condition than '02+ Camries.
  2. Super Vette Spied! Again! Chevy’s 650-hp Corvette SS caught heading in for EPA testing AutoWeek | Published 11/06/06, 9:03 am et Link to full article and pics @ Autoweek Not even a month has passed since we first reported on Chevrolet’s plans for a super Corvette, a halo model well in excess of the already superb Z06. Judging by these spy shots, it appears assurances we were given earlier this year that the car was on the development fast track (“To Hell and Back,” May were right on target. These photos were taken by George Kachadoorian just outside of Ann Arbor last week. He suspects the car was headed in for EPA testing. While the hood scoop indicates this is something other than an ordinary Z06, the real prize is under the hood where our spies previously heard the whine of what is most likely a supercharged 6.2-liter V8 pushing as much as 650 hp. The engine, which will be hand-built at a rate of 1500-2000 per year at the General Motors Performance Center outside Detroit, features an integrated intake manifold intercooler similar to the one GM developed for the Cadillac STS V-Series. So far, names for the production supercharged Corvette include everything from Z07 to Blue Devil to Corvette SS to Sting Ray. No matter what they call it, look for production of the 2009 model to start in early 2008. And set aside at least $100,000 if you want to one in your driveway.
  3. I agree with your sentiments about the Chromtech wheels, though they do look good for a chintzy car.

  5. 20.10.2006 Opel is backing up new Astra sedan Link to Full Article & Commentary @ Autoblog Istanbul. Opel is back into the compact sedan market. And it backed up its new entry, the Astra Sedan, at its world premiere at the Istanbul motor show yesterday with two company firsts: General Motors has never before premiered a new car in Turkey. And it never before drove it on stage in reverse. Friedhelm Engler, chief designer compact cars at General Motors Design Europe, said climbing out of the back seat of the Astra: "We are back in the market of compact sedans with the new Astra. And its back is what it's all about. It gives ample space for the luggage of a family of five and shows the versatility of the Astra architecture." Standing back to back to the new car, Engler also explained: "Using the longer wheelbase Astra Caravan as base, the new Astra Sedan also has lots of legroom in the back, as I just experienced." The Astra sedan will be produced in Gliwice, Poland, an ideal location to serve the Central and Eastern European markets for which the car has been primarily developed. The new model features a range of two gasoline and two diesel engines with output between 90 and 140 hp, and will go on sale in autumn 2007. Notchback sedans are highly sought after in these strong, thriving markets. 67 percent of Turkish customers who purchase a compact class car, for example, choose a notchback model. In Russia, this figure is 65 percent and in Poland and South-East Europe the total is around 15 percent. The new four-door sedan matches the special needs of Central and Eastern European customers while retaining the characteristics of the current successful Astra range. The new model's designers adopted the long wheelbase from the station wagon (2703 mm) for generous space in the rear and a large luggage compartment (500 liters). 10. What's with the low-key anihomosity in here?
  11. Again, I said it looks stupid. I also thought the Bonneville we bought six years ago looked stupid when it first came out. Obviously, something changed my mind and my first impression. Can the Tundra? We'll sure see. Poopyhead. :AH-HA_wink:
  12. Am I? Or did I merely say.... Good advice. I bet you wouldn't call me a psychic if I said it looked great, now would you?

  18. I saw it a few times at the Tampa Auto Show. It still looks pretty ghastly and the knock-off King Ranch interior they showed was hillarious.
  19. I would only do it with full knowledge of the repair quality, unless the price is so ridiculously low it doesn't matter.

  21. Bet the guy with the ES across the street feels like a douche.
  22. Makes his ranting in Harold and Kumar even more ironic
  23. I wouldn't mind a second smaller car, but one that doesn't look quite so stupid.
  24. I had to rollback the forum to the last update (~8hours ago) because of the hacker.
  25. Logically, they should lash out against the culture (i.e. their own) that creates that trend of wasteful single-user trucks instead of the trucks themselves.
