  1. This. US needs a good public transportation system. There is honestly no need for automatons running over town. It is the dream of IT guys who see automobiles as the next automation frontier as the industry tries to find new markets. There is a reason why Apple, Microsoft, Google are getting into this array, as car manufacturing is more than a trillion dollar industry. Their expectations and hopes are that the barriers of entry for traditional automakers for automation is higher than their barriers of entry to propulsion.
  2. I agree with hyper, although he may pull a Ron Burgundy to agree to disagree on calling San Diego as Whale's vagina. The action Tesla is seeking is nothing different than how Japanese car manufacturers started selling cars in the 60s. If Elon has a good product, why is he scared of the dealership? If his stock is hovering at a P/E of infinite value with no chance of turning profit with the turn of the decade, he should invest that capital to create a dealership network with a difference. It is always easy to side the small guy, but here the small guy is being slippery and sneaky. If he gets the privilege then so should the other manufacturers.
  3. HB Sir. Enjoy.
  4. Welcome and look forward to your knowledge in performance enhancements consulting.
  5. Agreed, it doesn't quite look like a Buick. And the dash and center stack has a ridiculous amount of buttons, it looks cluttered. Spoken (not) like a true Benz lover. The GLE coupe has 41 buttons on the center stack, an additional 17 on the steering wheel and another 15 on the command joystick.
  6. weeeelll... the LFX has only been around since 2012. It is so different from the prior LLT that it is basically all new. It just shares a displacement. That is why I said with updates. The original 3.6DI (LLT) was introduced in 2007 and with redesigned cylinder head and integrated exhaust manifold, and composite intake manifold and other components updated became a LFX.
  7. 3.6 really needs to be getting a single turbo to give the perception and grunt of the German and English competitors who have some forced induction for their tweener motors. GM has soldiered the 3.6 for almost 8 years, albeit with updates.
  8. Better execution than 5GT, ZDX, X6, which to me are tarted up sedans; and something really refreshing from Volvo. I agree with folks that it is a Subaru Legacy competitor, which was my first thought.
  9. One thing I was fan of post-MCE GMT900 Silverado 2500s was the Z71 package with body colored bumpers. GMC has the body colored bumpers in the All-Terrain package on the new Sierra. It does have more color choices than the ones offered for the this Silverado, though. The truck genuinely looks good.
  10. If Mercedes went so far off the line and even had seats facing each other like that in a gondola, why not go a step further? Make it symmetric; give the same fascia in the back. When the vehicle is traveling in one direction the lights for other direction turn into rear lights. Put the info-center in the middle. It will also save costs of manufacturing.
  11. Like in EU, does NZ subsidize diesel?
  12. Congrats. My recommendation - build yourself one. If you waited so long another 4-6 weeks won't hurt.
  13. Exclusivity not generic like a Chevroletdes Benz.
  14. Yes, you see them in many of EU airports.
  15. Happy and Safe New Year Everyone. May your resolutions and dreams come true.
  16. GM needs to get over the 90 - 95% complete product is a good product mentality. Guess what it is that 5 - 10% that magazines pick on and harp on the biggest. I want the engineers, accountants, managers to give 100% just like they gave for the Corvette.

    Flops?

I would not consider the original NSX a flop. It served its purpose of a limited availability sports car that brought foot traffic into Acura dealership for the Legends, Integras and TL/CL. The problem was Acura never really upgraded the car for 15 years and also the other lineup began faltering. To that I would call Acura the fabulous flop rather than its subset.
  18. Isn't LaCrosse the first one to get on E2XX, followed by Regal/Insignia?
  19. GM's sedans problem is not looks but packaging. I genuinely hope the car is better packaged.
  20. Carbon Black is added to the rubber or plastic compounds to prevent degradation from sunlight, especially UV rays.
  21. Show me a 45 mph curve designed to take a 100 mph and I will never drive again. The centripetal force is almost 5 times the design force. If AASHTO had designed every interstate with that much factor of safety, we would have been bankrupted by Eisenhower. Heck even with physics - for that curve radius, you are pulling close to 1.5G of lateral forces on that turn going 100 mph. The last time I saw a production car with maximum lateral force was 2015 Z-06 with 1.19G. It is physics of the road and vehicle not typing (driving) prowess. But then again your Trailblazer SS with 23 inchers is a great handler.
