Subaru News: Subaru WRX Hatchback? Yeah, It Isn't Happening
Z-06 replied to William Maley's topic in Subaru
A GM like move. Seems like GM put some of its people in Subaru who are still there after stakes were divested. -
A 95% product. Not bad, but not ground breaking.

I agree with everyone one with the RWD Toyota platform. Toyota (Subaru) almost perfected it. However, as much as BRZ is a fun and fantastic car, after spending a quality time test driving it, to almost purchase, I am a little underwhelmed. Why? The engine. No it does not need high horsepower, but it is not a fun companion. The motor shows its deficiencies while trying to have fun and my limits of fun are nearly not as high as Randy Pobst's or Ron Fellows'. The high strung motor just begs for more torque. It is weaker than the 2.4 in my TSX. It gasps when pushing too hard and unwilling. The execution of the powertrain gets 6/10 points. I would say a 250 hp motor with 250 lb-ft torque would be a good companion for that 2,800 lb car.

Single digit tire pressure that is amazing. I hardly see any technology that got transferred in modern pickups. Like the latest snap-on tractor from John Deere, this thing would have a tremendous potential in modern day. Too bad innovation doesn't exist in modern automobile manufacturers.

Yes, Cruze Eco manual is really the deal killer for the Cruze diesel. People are getting 44-45 mpg quite often. The average fuel economy for the Eco and Diesel are 35 and 36.5 mpg, respectively. That 1.5 mpg delta with a ~$0.60 price differential in fuel prices is really hard to overcome. And we are not even taking into consideration the price differential between the two models. As much as I love diesels, if I were in market for Cruze I would buy an ECO. Cruze Diesel really needs a manual transmission. Another blunder from GM.

For those I would consider Bridgestones (I can't remember the name on top of my head). My wife's TSX has had them since our life in Michigan and she has put close to 65,000 on them and are still over their tread wear. -
Mind is a very powerful starter.
