  1. Quoted for emphasis. Quoted for truth. Quoted because it answers your question. 207366[/snapback] As far as the recall's are concerned you obviously have no idea what the truth is! I have a computer at work with every GM and Toyota recall for the last 15 years or so and I promise you for every 10 GM recalls, Toyota may have 1 or 2. There are 7 on the Envoy alone and still counting. May be you should go to work for GM, it looks like that kind of thinking has been working really well for them. You can blame everyone else, but it doesn't change the fact that they created their own problem's.
  2. GM is the #1 automaker because they have 9 different brands! lol They used too at least, god knows what they will have to sell off to help with the recovery. Their financial problems didn't just happen overnight! Being loyal is one thing, but ignoring what got them in this position is another. A poorly made product, a greedy union and worthless upper management with no vision is why they are losing billions every quarter. Toyota is more dependable and they hold their value better than just about any current GM product. That's not an opinion that's a fact and anyone in the car business knows that. The American people are tired of buying junk! GM knew where this was heading back in the 70's and they didn't have enough vision to understand what their customer's wanted or they didn't care. You can do your best to get on here and bash Toyota, but the number's don't lie no matter how you look at them. It won't be long before they have more market share than GM and that will be the nail in their coffin. Don't get me wrong, I hope they do recover from this and get some management in there with half a brain. I'm just a realistic person than doesn't sugar coat it, make excuses or blame everyone else for my own bad decision's like a lot of people do for GM.
  3. Ok, so why is GM doing so bad and Toyota doing so good? Let's hear your opinion and see how much you think you know.
  4. Do you work for GM, because that would explain the way you think.
  5. You can't compare Mercedez to GM. That's like comparing a Jaguar to a Kia. People will buy Mercedez for the prestige regardless of how reliable it is and a Mercedez owner can afford to fix his car numerous times and money not be an issue. The Olds Aurora was the text book definition of "Looks don't get you down the road!". It may have looked good at the time of introduction, but that car was a hunk of junk! As far as resale these are just as bad as every other GM car, you can't give it away. I should know, I tried taking 3 to the big auto auction in St. Louis and had to bring them back because no one wanted them.
  6. The difference is Toyota can afford to issue a recall and fix whatever problem there is, GM and all the other's can't.
  7. I don't know, the old Old's Aurora has got to be the biggest disappointment. If it wasn't the water pump going out it was the load leveling system going bad and it comes into the shop looking a bad version of a 60's hot rod with rear end all cranked up in the air. Then when you drain your checking account to fix it you have to let it sit in your driveway because it hasn't got the trade value of a Yugo so you can get rid of it. This car made a lot of loyal GM customer's switch brand's
  8. Better make sure those are not "bulletins" instead of recalls because we have never gotten a recall notice in any form from Toyota in the ten years I've been working on them. GM was nice enough to send out "Bulletin's" on all of their 3.8 liter V6's from '97-'03 because the upper intake gasket's were melting through. They lost a lot of customer's by making them pay $700 to fix a GM mistake!
  9. Even if the looks are questionable to some people they did a good enough job that we can't even keep one to put on the lot! They are all sold before they hit the ground, believe it or not! In a town of 25,000 we sell 180 cars a month and 70-90 of them are new Toyota's. If it works don't fix it!
  10. I want you to go drive a Corolla XRS with the six speed manual tranny and don't shift until you red line it at 8,000rpm. It can perform with the Cobalt, but people don't buy Corolla's for this. Go to Consumer Reports and look at their 2 list's of "Most Reliable" and "Most Unreliable" cars and truck's. The Cobalt and almost every other GM, Ford, and Chrysler is on the "Most Unreliable" list! This is the exact reason Ford, GM and Chrysler are in financial ruin's! I will be driving my 4Runner when most of their new cars are in the junk yard!
  11. Well, if your looking for something to be that exciting then why would you be looking at a Corolla? Corolla has been the most reliable car on the road for the last 10 years or so. It has never had a recall since the day it was introduced back in 1967. This thing has always sold and always will sell good because of it's history! They could turn this thing into the ugliest car on earth and people will still buy it because it doesn't cost anything to own it.
