  1. The union really is a necessary evil sometimes. And you're right, they need to back off and they need to back off now.
  2. Wow, this plan is really, REALLY optimistic. Going after twice as many conquests as repeat business sales? WOW.
  3. Well that only took 'em about twenty years.
  4. “GM’s planned $225 million investment in Spring Hill is proof that this facility remains an important part of GM’s North American manufacturing plans,” They said something similar about Flint when they opened Powertrain South a few years back. The Spring Hill workers probably don't appreciate those kinds of comments quite as much as the workers up here do, though.
  5. 1995 Oldsmobile 88 Royale My dad bought it new, gave it to my mom in 2002, and I got it in 2003. I've put about 30,000 miles on it since I've had it.
  6. Sure, Nissan can be in the American "Big Four"...as soon as they relocate their headquarters to Detroit and convert their stocks.
  7. "This event ends the minute after you write us a check...and it better not bounce or you're a dead motherf*cker!" :rotflmao:
  8. 1969-1971 Oldsmobile 442 1963 Studebaker Avanti 1959 Cadillac Eldorado
  9. What Saturn needs to do is redesign that frikin' logo of theirs. If they really want to reimagine the brand, the have to do away with the logo that makes people think back to the Saturns of old with the crappy designs and plastic bodies.
  10. That's complete bull$hit. That was one of the last Flint-built Buicks, too.
  11. It DOES look like an Aston Martin...but I can't say it doesn't completely rock me into next week. Wish they had some close ups of the interior.
  12. That would rule so hard. I've wanted a foam-based safety feature in my car ever since I first saw that movie...I might even crash just for the experience.
  13. Uh...well...it looks...from what I can tell...aw, f*ck it...
  14. Hah, I gone one in the mail today. I'd love to use it and buy myself a Charger, but I'm broke.
  15. I hate it when people do that. Absolutely hate it. EVERYONE has had a disappointing car. Everyone knows people who have had disappointing cars. My family has had a few disappointing cars in my lifetime...but it never led to us swearing off the brand...much less the company, or THREE companies. This was a great article, I just wish more people would read it.
  16. I've got nothing against Chery, but the last thing America needs right now is more imports.
  17. I think AMC would have turned itself around with its '88 products, for a while at least. It would probably hit a rough spot in the early 90s and have to merge with Renault, but it would've been in the right place at the right time for the SUV craze. We would also probably be looking at a Daimler/Renault/AMC right now too, as opposed to DaimlerChrysler. By now AMC would probably only be offering vehicles branded AMC and Jeep, but they'd probably benefit from having help from Daimler-Benz and Renault, and we might have actually had some really great cars coming from them today (although they'd still be in the same trouble the rest of the American automakers are right now)...possibly a new Javelin to compete in the upcoming pony car wars against the Mustang, Camaro and Challenger. And Chrysler would still have Plymouth. This is absolutely the most positive fate I could think of for American Motors.
  18. Jesus H. Christ, man...I thought the thing looked ridiculous before I saw this. Tell me Toyota isn't actually planning on selling that to TRUCK guys. God, the thing looks like it can carry more people than cargo! They might as well lop off the bed on that trim and sell it as an SUV.
  19. Agreed. Declaring bankrupcy would be a very, very bad move for GM though. As for busting the UAW...I don't know. I believe the union is a necessary evil, and not wholly a bad thing, but they really need to back off on their demands, the companies can't pull through for them right now and they need to realize that. Unionizing the foreign companies might be the easiest (and possibly best) way to level out the playing field.
  20. I would just keep it. I'm hard pressed for a new car, but to be honest, there's no way even I would pay over a thousand dollars for a car with 250,000 miles on it even if it were in great shape.
  21. Not very high. I might be able to get it up to $12,000 if I'm really lucky. I'm right in the beginning process of looking for a car right now...actually getting one might be a few months away yet.
  22. My '95 Olds 88 is getting to the point where its not only embarassing to be seen in, but miserable to drive. I need to find a good used car. I've decided to get either an Olds Alero or Dodge Intrepid. Anybody have any input on potential mechanical problems that are common with either of them or anything else I should look out for while searching?
