  1. Good ol' Flint. I wish it was like it was instead of like it is.
  2. I'll only buy vehicles from American manufacturers and that makes me a lot like a racist? I guess I should start acting the part then. I'll put on a blue collar and burn Toyotas in front of their factories. Hopefully no one takes that crap he said too much to heart because it can potentially cause some major problems in this country.
  3. If it keeps Chrysler around, I'm for it. However, I wonder if Chrysler will end up being an American subsidiary of Magna (like it was with Daimler-Benz) or a Canadian automaker.
  4. "And should Americans buy "American" out of patriotism. No, but they should carefully consider U.S.-brand vehicles - now that most are competitive or better in design, engineering, quality, and fuel economy - out of their own economic self-interest. Because whatever business they are in, every time "Detroit" and its struggling U.S. auto suppliers shed another 10,000, or 20,000, or 30,000 American workers, that multiplies to hundreds of thousands who can no longer afford whatever goods or services their own employers sell." Thank you! Maybe when people start realizing this, maufacturing jobs will start slowly coming back to America.
  5. Its about neither one of them right now. Absolutely NOTHING definitive has been released from either DaimlerChrysler or General Motors. The last word on the subject was that they wouldn't rule out a possible sale of Chrysler Group, and that GM was interested in it.
  6. Reasons I hate this car: 1. Its a Kia. I don't like Kia. 2. The name. Who the hell would drive something called a "Rondo" anyway? 3. Its boring. Of course, its also a Kia, so I expected that. 4. The commercials. I keep wishing the Rondo would just run over all those f'ing singers.
  7. Completely off topic, but reading this thread got me wishing that America had more major automakers.
  8. I'm going to quit worrying about the fate of Chrylser Group until the bosses in Germany give any definitive answer.
  9. The only difference is they didn't really want Chrysler to begin with. They wanted Jeep, but somehow managed to screw it up just as bad as the other brands. If I ever feel a pressing need to buy German, I think I'll just go for Volkswagon. If this is the kind of commitment Daimler-Benz has, there's no way in hell I'm getting on the road in one of their vehicles.
  10. It puts my mind slightly at rest whenever any of the Big Three decide to invest in Metro Detroit. Hell, even Michigan in general.
  11. If I wanted to be bored, I would've gone upstairs and turned on CNN. Hyundai leads the world in production of Everycars.
  12. I was making a point. They're afraid now after all they've done? Its ridiculous.
  13. Toyota spent the last twenty years bulldozing through the American auto industry, spearheading the import invasion, helping put the final nails in AMC's coffin, and then helping drive the Big Three to the edge of oblivion (not to mention the side effect of bringing the cities of Detroit and Flint to their knees) and now that they're almost to their primary goal of World's Biggest Automaker, they're AFRAID of it? This is sickening PR bull$h!. "Potential backlash" God I would LOVE to see that. I'd love to see people throwing away Toyotas for Fords and Chevys; Lexuses for Chryslers and Buicks. I'd sit there and watch it with a tub of popcorn...it would pure entertainment for me.
  14. MIGHT get bought by China. I hope like hell they don't, but idiots on this forum are friggin' clamoring for it.
  15. Gigantic yawn. Saab needs to go. Unless GM can get the brand straightened out (and nothing less than the Aero X is going to change my mind about it) by the end of the decade, it should just be ended.
  16. Let China buy them? And get major inroads into America via the dealers? Everyone thinks that when China gets here no one's going to pay any attention to them and they'll be out so fast it'll make our heads spin. That's exactly what we all thought about the Japanese two decades ago.
  17. For some reason everyone on this forum is acting like GM buying Chrysler or Chrysler going out of business are the only two options available.
  18. I saw the worlds "ultra-luxury" in there. Has GM finally decided to get Cadillac to compete with Rolls-Royce?
  19. I don't think there's anyone on this website that wants GM to buy Chrysler. Only thing anyone is really saying in defense of Chrysler is in retaliation to the "Chrysler sucks and has to go" crowd. I'm sure most of us would rather Chrysler become its own company again instead of getting broken apart and sold off, or be part of a company that bought it, but never wanted anything to do with it.
  20. The LX cars for one. And I wouldn't call the Sebring, Viper, Nitro, Ram, Durango, Crossfire or Pacifica chopped liver. I'm curious, by "comparable product", were you only thinking of GM's? GM has plenty of brands that meet the same stigma you say Chrysler has. For example: Name a Saab product that is better than a comparable product from the competition. Any Pontiac other than the Solstice? Where would Buick be without the Enclave?
  21. Just like I'm not sure how Chrysler, Dodge and Jeep are irrelevant? They do fit and compete quite well where they are.
  22. I really don't think so. Kia is irrelevant. Suzuki is irrelevant. Mercury and Saab are irrelevant. I wouldn't count the Chrysler Group with them.
  23. How about a Bonneville? My dad's got a 2002 and the thing is flawless.
  24. I'm going to guess that about three quarters of this entire forum are blinded by their own GM bias...and it looks like they've all shown up here to let us all know they hope Chrysler tanks. I'm more of a fan of the entire Big Three than I am of just GM. Personally, I'd take a Dodge over a Pontiac (definitely a Charger over what I've seen so far of the G8); a Jeep over a Hummer and an F-150 over a Silverado any old day of the week. Another thing that really bothers be about everyone calling for Chrysler's demise is that it would absolutely CRIPPLE Michigan. Its bad enough here as it is, there are more people leaving Michigan than any other state in the America. Now think about Chrysler going under taking 85,000 more jobs with it. "CHRYSLER MUST DIE!!!!" Yeah, and put thousands out of work, cripple an already struggling state, and kill part of our culture. Yeah, great idea.
