  1. Wow, that's hot. I really like it.
  2. True that. If I were young, which I am, I would much prefer a Buick Insignia than Regal.
  3. Agreed... Not that I look at YouTube comments or anything, and not that I can be bothered to get all huffy puffy about them, but damn... they get pretty brainless and vicious. Some people never took Reason 101.
  4. Why the hell would they choose Buick as the sexy, youthful brand...
  5. Also if you're a recent grad, Ford usually has an extra $500 rebate.
  6. Incentives vary by region, but it looks like the tri-state area is offering $1,000 rebate (or 0% for 36 mo) plus $1,500 bonus cash (or 3 payments, up to $500 each) for most 2009 Fords. Do the calculations and see if it's better to get the $1,000 cash and finance separately. At invoice, you're looking at $4K off... though $24K is still a lot for an Escape, IMO. There are newer, safer, and more efficient CUVs out there you could check out. The Escape has a pretty weak roof and the V6 models only get 17 mpg city.
  7. Apparently Volkswagen designed the interior and exterior on their own, so Chrysler doesn't have the rights to the Routan.
  8. The Terrain will be non-hybrid.
  9. Making it hybrid-only is a way to differentiate itself from the Terrain or SRX. This could be the "world's first 'dedicated' luxury crossover hybrid" to compete against and undercut the RX450h. An SRX-based hybrid would be far more expensive; the VUE 2-mode was to start around $32K.
  10. Well, I think you can count Cerberus out...
  11. I actually stopped by the Kia dealer today and checked out the Soul. I like it a lot better than I thought I would, as the interior is genuinely nice with pleasant materials and color themes. Surprisingly big, too. Cool exterior details. It's dorky, and I can't picture myself driving one, but it's a fun and cheerful car. The glovebox is red inside... how awesome is that!?
  12. If GM gave us a small car that built on THIS: ... rather than THIS: ... then I would be interested in a Chevrolet.
  13. With every new generation of vehicles that arrives, GM always tries to convince us "it's different this time." I'm hoping this will be the last... I'm willing to give GM a chance - but their upcoming product portfolio doesn't appeal to me. I'm not interested in a generic Daewoolet Viva when I can get an iconic Fiesta, Polo, 500, or MINI. I'm not old, so I'm not interested in any Buick. I don't need a truck, so I'm not interested in any GMC. I do like the idea of a young, sporty Cadillac, but I can't afford one. I like Saab and Saturn, but they're gone.
  14. Chrysler should get the Routan's interior and suspension, then VW should make their own Microbus. Now both parties would benefit, or at least have better minivans.
  15. I like diesels, don't get me wrong, but internal combustion can only go so far in terms of improving efficiency. Downsizing, turbocharging, variable cylinder management, variable valve timing, direct shift gearboxes, direct injection, ethanol boost, HCCI, etc. might yield 20-30% improvement, but with electrification, you can get infinite MPG. Hybrids are a step towards that long-term goal. By the way, diesels and hybrids aren't mutually exclusive.
  16. According to fueleconomy.gov, your '95 Caprice Wagon gets 18 mpg combined, so it qualifies under the program.
  17. It does seem like a carefully crafted policy designed specifically to change the composition of our nation's fleet, in addition to increasing new car sales. Only gas guzzling beaters qualify for this incentive, and the replacement vehicle must show an increase in fuel economy. Extending the program to all vehicles, not just gas guzzlers, will create a price floor for used passenger cars, so thankfully, this isn't the case.
  18. The cells are made by LG Chem in South Korea, but they're packed in Michigan. The Volt's 1.4L was to be made in Flint, but that plant was canceled. The Volt's powertrain is "better" or "more advanced" in that it has a much larger battery.
  19. New Prius. The base 15" wheels are ugly, needs teh seventeens!
  20. I think it's supposed to be brushed aluminum. I liked them on the old S4 with matching window trim.
  21. Wow, which way is front. From one end it sorta looks like a pickup, from the other end, it's like a tank shooting out stuff. Cool.
