  1. Insignia OPC review... me likey... want:
  2. If you're in "D", push it up, to "N." However, he might have been driving in sport mode, or "S." Pushing up would make it upshift.

2010 BMW 128i - $29,000 Destination ($825) Sport Package ($1,300) Xenon headlights ($900) BMW Assist and Bluetooth ($800) Total MSRP - $32,775 European Delivery Invoice + $500 dealer profit - $28,910 36 Month Lease @ 12K mi/yr Residual: 60% of MSRP MF: .00225 Base Rate (+ .00007 reduction per additional Multiple Security Deposit) With 8 additional Security Deposits: ($28,910 – ($32,775 * .60)) / 36 = $256.80 Depreciation ($28,910 + ($32,775 * .60)) X .00169 = $82.09 Interest = $338.89/mo + TTL, $0 down payment, $3,150 refundable security deposit BMW's European Delivery and MSD program rock. For the 128i, the ED invoice is a good $2K less than the regular invoice, AND you can negotiate more with the dealer, because ED cars are not allocated and anything over invoice is pure profit for them. With MSD, the savings can be huge... on average you get a 10% per year tax-free return. It's much better than a down payment on a lease, which you lose if your car is totalled.

    Not that I'm in the market for a new car, but just for fun... 2010 MINI Cooper - $18,800 Destination ($700) Pepper White/Black Roof ($0) Black/Grey Leatherette ($0) Sport Package ($1,250) Total MSRP - $20,750 Negotiated price - $20,150 36 Month Lease @ 12K mi/yr Residual: 63% of MSRP MF: .00217 Base Rate (+ .00007 reduction per additional Multiple Security Deposit) ($20,150 – ($20,750 * .63)) / 36 = $196.60 Depreciation ($20,150 + ($20,750 * .63)) X .00217 = $72.09 Interest = $268.69/mo + TTL, $0 down payment, $300 refundable security deposit Or, if I do 8 additional Security Deposits: ($20,150 – ($20,750 * .63)) / 36 = $196.60 Depreciation ($20,150 + ($20,750 * .63)) X .00161 = $53.49 Interest = $250.09/mo + TTL, $0 down payment, $2,250 refundable security deposit
  5. IMO, people like the sporty OPC look - the 20" wheels and Recaros are hot - but I doubt an actual OPC would sell. In European reviews, it doesn't fare as well as the 335i and S4, and here in the US, there are a number of more established, high-performance sedans like the G37 and, up until recently, the G8. I'm thinking Insignia with an OPC-lite styling package, 2.0T 220 hp engine, sports suspension, and six-speed manual. The 2.8T with AWD guzzles gas like a V8.
  6. Wow, that makes it much better than the Chinese Regal. How about an OPC grille (but with a Buick logo) for the sporty version? On second thought, that bumper might not be final US-spec, because it lacks yucky orange reflectors.
  7. Yeah, I'll prolly wait for LA. Midterms...
  8. Hope it's more like the Insignia OPC than the Chinese version with its fender trim and raised suspension.
  9. DIDN'T The O.C...... have one as well??
  10. Honey drizzled on top of Greek yogurt is sooo good, especially with chopped up frozen mango and fresh blueberries.
  11. I'm weird... I like honey and butter (salted) on my waffles.
  12. For some reason, my mom never liked using a dishwasher, and that trait has passed onto me. The 8 year old stainless steel Kitchen-Aid dishwasher in our house serves as a giant, dual-level dish rack.
  13. I grew up in RPV but now go to school in LA (Eagle Rock). Often on weekends I visit my parents in the Peninsula and family in the South Bay in general. Redondo is cool... in the summer, it's LBJs for calorie-laden Mexican food and then Ave I/Esplanade for the sun.
  14. All for just six payments of $29.99!

    Sushi Trouble

The thing I really liked about Spain... and the whole tapas bar culture, in general... is the availability of delicious food in a sociable setting that's also very fast. Right now I have an internship with weird hours that makes sit-down dining at normal hours difficult. I usually grab something to-go and eat alone in the car. It would be awesome if I could just pop down to the local tapas place, get some jamon iberico, pa amb tomaquet, sardines and other awesome seafood, and leave...
  16. Werd. I don't get service in, like, all of Rolling Hills with AT&T. Friends with Verizon don't have a problem.
  17. I know someone who had a Blackberry Storm (touchscreen) and hated it... nothing but trouble. He replaced it with a Tour, which I played around with and found really nice. You want a keyboard. I have an ancient Palm Treo 680 through AT&T (still has "cingular" written on it) and it's been very reliable. Has both a touchscreen and keyboard, but it has no apps and no internet. There's a new Palm through Sprint, but I'd stick with something more common and serviceable.

    Sushi Trouble

For most sushi, I would agree - but if you're lucky enough to find sashimi that's really fresh and nice and fatty, it's amazing. Good toro tuna (near the belly) is a party in my mouth. Fresh wasabi makes it better. I love salmon roe (eggs/caviar - salty, briny, they explode in your mouth) and uni (sea urchin - rich and velvety), too.

    RBB's Greek Oddysey

Thanks for the pics! They bring back memories when I visited Greece two years ago. We were winding down from a month-long trip of the entire continent, and I was just chilling, making sure to forever remember how good souvlaki and calamari and fried pita and house wine can be on a gentle, warm, Mediterranean summer's evening. Seriously... when I was on the what felt like the equivalent of PCH in Greece, two rows of cars were driving on one lane.
  20. The original Volt concept had a theoretical powertrain and was powered by a tub of detergent and a golf cart motor.
  21. Grill looks as bad as the one on the Chevrolet Lacetti... Why, why can't this be a Buick Park Avenue? Or give the SWB version (G8) a Camaro front clip?
  22. Top Gear's James May's Alternative Uses for Tampons
  23. Was this a problem with just the strut, or is it something more integral with the suspension? Signed, Potential pre-owned G8 buyer
