  1. Yes, I noticed that, too. The upper dash paint is "soft touch", but the actual plastic itself is brittle and hard. It's "soft" only in the sense that it flexes like a thin sheet of plastic.
  2. Why'd GM go through the "trouble" of upgrading the plastics in the DTS then? To set the record straight, soft doesn't immediately mean expensive and high quality, nor does hard immediately mean cheap. The shiny, molded, soft vinyl plastics in the LeSabre are dated and low-budget by today's standards, while the Tahoe's rock-hard plastics are very convincing simulations of more expensive materials.

    Car Spotting

New Sedona minivan... hardly noticed it in beige. The new S-classes are starting to catch on.
  4. G35? You could probably get an '03 model with ~70K miles for $15-16K.
  5. Jag S-type? A Lincoln LS, but prettier.
  6. The legroom is unimpressive for something so enormous, but any more is unnecessary... the second row is perfectly comfortable.
  7. Pretty cheap, which reminds me of the Catera or maybe a CTS. Why are you selling the Seville anyway, '68? Edit: http://cgi.ebay.com/ebaymotors/5-SPEED-200...1QQcmdZViewItem Florida is kinda far away.... but at least we now know a CTS for $15K is possible.
  8. This seems pretty good... $14,790, 74K miles, sports pack, 5-speed manual, and 150 miles away from Boston, though it's a wagon and "only" a 2.5 liter: http://cgi.ebay.com/ebaymotors/525I-WAGON-...1QQcmdZViewItem This one looks good, but it's an automatic: http://cgi.ebay.com/ebaymotors/528I-SPORT-...1QQcmdZViewItem First year cars are generally less reliable, but if the price is right... '97 540i manual w/ 81K miles: http://cgi.ebay.com/ebaymotors/1997-BMW-54...1QQcmdZViewItem
  9. With a 2.7L V6, wheel covers, nylon upholstery, and four-speed automatic?
  10. Same here, unless Buick made an effort to change its target-marketing-demographic-thing, which would be foolish.
  11. Funny, I just got the actual Fortune one in the mail today. The cover was, well, eye-catching, to say the least.
  12. Actually, $32,620, which isn't bad, or $29,030 with European Delivery.
  13. At $15K there are tons of 5-series to choose from. The E34 models (89-95) are cheap used, while an E39 (97-03) would definitely "outdue" a '97 STS. Good luck with your searching.
  14. I've seen one at a dealership somewhere in Middle-of-nowhere, CA. For some odd reason, I prefer it to the G6... it's happier.
  15. Cool... maybe we'll replace the Odyssey with the VW version.
  16. Didn't get middle name... other than that, did surprisingly well.
  17. BMW's Active Steering has improved over the years... apparently, the newest calibrations have the same road feel as non-AS, but with more parking lot and parallel parking convenience. An 80-year-old lady would probably be very happy piloting an AS car.
  18. Saturn's vastly superior dealerships alone have greater potential for changing perceptions and battling the imports, IMO.
