  1. I tried www.autoshowinmotion.com but there wasn't any info on it. Has it been cancelled?
  2. Some of them were relevant... Anyway, I continue to think that GM should be more like Apple and less like Dell; they should rely on innovation, design, hype, and "hip-ness", not $299 PC specials. And remember, Apple is American... you can have distinctly American design without being vulgar and bling like Chrysler; look at Ford's Fairlane concept. Perhaps they can start by having "GM Stores" in metro areas that at least try to be cool. They can showcase and promote cars, and refer customers to a list of local dealers or something. Have a lounge, a '50s Cadillac, a crash test car, public events... something.
  3. Honda Fit, Jag XK, Cayman S, and Merc GL450.
  4. Sounds like me... I'm always dead after school, and I usually have to nap 'til dinnertime.
  5. You guys should see the Top Gear Winter Olympics... they made a rocket-powered Mini go down the ski jump.
  6. I actually really liked the gauges on the old Rendezvous, if only they were a bit more legible. The Torrent's are pretty good, too: Then, of course, I like the entire interior (styling) of the Torrent:
  7. That's 7.2 cubic feet, which is enough for a large suitcase and a bag or two. It's larger than the GTO's, btw. edit: Oh, also, the company that makes the G6's top is the same as the Eos's, Karmann.
  8. Well, at least you won't be decapitated in a rollover, with the Eos's pop-up bars.
  9. Yep, great economy with direct injection and no turbo lag, but if he wants an auto, they only offer a CVT with FWD. DSG is miles more impressive. Both are fairly experimental in design, though, and reliability of the two have been mixed.
  10. True, but not the EOS, which will cost <$30K.
  11. Saw a grey G6 cabrio today... looked surprisingly good, but not as cool as the new C70 I saw yesterday.
  12. Most impressive is probably the Outlook... the most disappointing is probably the AURA.
  13. Exactly. My mom recognizes the Mustang as a Ford, the Corvette as a Chevy, the Civic as a Honda, and the Beetle as a VW, but she has no idea what the hell a Camaro is. To most people, "Camaro" isn't as iconic as GM wants to believe. Mustang appeals to 16 y/o girls, tourists, and people with midlife crisis, in addition to just enthusiasts.
  14. IONO, I just can't imagine driving any BMW without engine noise.
  15. "Not so much a maxi Miata as a Corvette junior petite." Overall, they liked it more than the Solstice. Some notable quotes: "... the Sky's base price of $23,690 is $3200 higher than the stripper Solstice's. The extra nip gets you air conditioning, ABS, cruise, power everything (except the top, which is manual in all Kappas), keyless entry, floor mats, an alarm, and OnStar for a year. Taken together these options cost $3355 on the Solstice..." "The [sky] exhaust is slightly quieter, the top insulated with another layer of acoustic material. A more Stay-Puft ride results from a longer suspension travel and shorter jounce dampers. The refinement is turned up a notch over the Solstice, and it's noticeable. Over pavement holes the Sky's suspension lets the body down with softer landings. Lumps aren't as obtrusive. Dig into the throttle, and the burring from the DOHC 16-valve 2.4-liter four is more muted, its 6900-rpm less of a raspy thrash than in the Solstice. GM's Ecotec swings a big stroke and will never be confused with a zingy sports-car engine. In the Sky, the harshness is hidden." "Steering feel, critical to a roadster's street credentials, proved worthy of tight roads with fast-chaning cambers and pitching pavement. The large wheel jigs and tugs just enough to keep drivers on the tires' wavelength. The Sky turns with commitment and holds a tight line through corners with no squealing or sloppy body motions." "The interior has tidy forms but ergonomics on par with a game of Twister. The window buttons and mirror control reside closer to your elbow than your fingers and require an uncomfortable wrist wrench to operate. The cup holders are almost useless, the gauges too small and dark in the bottom of their tubes." "... the Sky's top never stacked neatly, having to be pushed down against its will in order to get the lid closed. Because waterproofing the Sky depends on the interference fit of miles of thick rubber seals, multiple slammings were required of the trunk and doors before anything would latch. At times the Sky feels less like car than an overstuffed suitcase." 0-60: 7.3 5-60: 7.7 1/4 mile: 15.9 @ 88 300-ft skidpad: 0.86g observed MPG: 16 In footnotes, they said "the Sky couldn't be tested for sound [levels] because the rear glass shattered after we lowered the top and overpacked the trunk."
  16. Yep, yep, yep. Our Ody has a prop and it seems pretty wobbly.

    The Fit is Go!!

Me likes (or is it "likey"?), too.

    The Fit is Go!!

Or "Safe Happens" or "My Fast..."
  19. '88 Volvo 240 - 97,000 '00 BMW 528i - 79,000 '02 VW Passat - 48,000 '03 Honda Odyssey - 27,000
  20. The radical S60, S40, V50, and XC90 are what got Volvo to their current popularity. They're less about safety now, and more about progressive Scandinavian design and cool autoshow booths. They strive on being the anti-BMW. Saab can do all that.
  21. Good... the current Allure/LaCrosse has the ugliest gauges, wood trim, and steering wheel I've ever seen.
  22. That's not what I remember at all. Sure, there was media and C&G coverage, but AFAIK, no bashing.
