  1. I once had a Ford salesman tell me that the Suburban's frame was made from two separate sides welded together, whereas the Expedition's was extruded into one piece. This results in greater safety, as an Expedition won't split apart in a crash and a Suburban will. Only Mercedes, Volvo (we showed up in one), and Ford have this technology. I'm dead serious.

    I particularly like this pic...
  3. The trial Torrent looked really nice... I prefer it to the silver/black stuff.
  4. Wow, the HHR interior looks a lot better in black. It's pleasing to the eye and almost elegant.
  5. The steering wheel is now officially rendered useless.
  6. But that's from your beloved MSN Autos! "+~75hp/70lbft" is probably Tundra V6 vs. Silverado V8.
  7. No, those moms, or at least the informed ones, would buy a IIHS Gold-rated Sedona, which is also sub-$20K after discounts. There's no reason at all to buy an Uplander.
  8. Not in the US, where their ads are rather pathetic... If I hear "EVERYDAY IS A WINDING ROADDD!!!! I GET A LITTLE BIT CLOSER!!!" once more, I'm gonna .
  9. Personally, I bash toyota apologists for hiding behind the "7/8ths full-size" excuse. I bash toyota for being uncompetitive in the segment. But it's hard to call it 'bashing' when it's more factual than anything else. 178026[/snapback] FWIW... '06 Tundra Double Cab v. '06 Silverado 1500 Crew Cab Length 230.1 in. 230.2 in. Width 79.7 in. 78.5 in. Height 74.6 in. 75 in. Wheel Base 140.5 in. 143.5 in.
  10. What's funny is that the "6.3" is back... as a 6.2. Isn't the Z06 actually a 428 or something?
  11. That's a lot better than the G6 GTP's 18/26. More power (more weight, too) and better fuel economy is always good.

    2006 BMW X5

Not bad... kinda conservative, but there are still some nice arty details.
  13. Same thing happened to me. They said they'd call me when it arrives.
  14. Nah, I think white is making a comeback.
  15. Camry (Good; structure -- Good) RAV4 (Good; structure -- Acceptable) Zephyr (Acceptable; structure -- Acceptable) Tucson (Acceptable; structure -- Acceptable) Caliber (Marginal; structure -- Good)
  16. Side (31 mph, SUV-like barrier) Toyota Camry - Good Toyota RAV4 (w/ SAB) - Good Lincoln Zephyr - Acceptable Hyundai Tucson - Acceptable Dodge Caliber - Marginal Frontal (40 mph, offset barrier) Toyota Camry - Good Toyota RAV4 - Good Kia Optima - Good Dodge Caliber - Good Lincoln Zephyr - Acceptable Hyundai Tucson - Acceptable Rear (seat/headrest design, dynamic rating) Kia Optima - Good Toyota Camry - Marginal Toyota RAV4 - Marginal Dodge Caliber - Marginal Lincoln Zephyr - Marginal Hyundai Tucson - Poor http://www.iihs.org/news/rss/pr080606.html The Caliber has a really beefy structure, so I suspect the upcoming torso airbag will raise its side rating to "good." The Optima will be tested later (side crash), since Kia is making a few design changes; I'm expecting an "acceptable" rating.
  17. One thing I don't like is how the Aura's C-pillar attaches to the body... maybe it's just the picture. I'll find out tomorrow. And since we're on the subject of similarities, how about Lincoln LS?
  18. Some real-world pics... http://www.saturnfans.com/forums/showthread.php?t=82867 It looks great even without any options.
  19. It's more efficient to maintain speed and have the alternator generate the electricity than to use regen braking.
  20. Yeah. The XE (224-hp) costs the same as a Camry LE 4-banger.
  21. My bad... fueleconomy.gov says 19/22 (city/highway), but on Toyota's own site, it's 18/22 (RWD) and 17/21 (4WD).
  22. It just doesn't look German enough, IMO.
  23. Sadly, the H3's city fuel economy went down from 16 MPG to 15 with the added displacement. That's pretty bad when you consider that the 320-hp Tahoe gets 16 (and the FJ Cruiser 19).
