  1. Another thing... why couldn't they call it a 2007.5?
  2. Nice to see they got rid of Touch Activated Power ™ shift (TAPshift). Driver Shift Control is much better.
  3. And they're incredibly useful at night, especially in unlit residential areas. I could have used one trying to find a friend who lives in Rolling Hills, CA. No street lamps + tiny unlit street signs + twisty roads = Stevie Wonder driving
  4. Garrison Keillor! Yay! Great ad.
  5. Meh, to bash hybrids but not hydrogen fuel cells is just silly. Both use similar electric motors and battery packs, and fuel cells are even more expensive and complicated. Hybrids, including plug-in and li-ion, are stepping zones to hydrogen.
  6. Good idea... they're capitalizing on the iconic Prius nameplate.
  7. Ignoring the last three paragraphs, I think you're about right. The Lambdas are packaged well for a three-row crossover. Personally I'd like to see a two-row, SWB version with a comfy second row.
  8. The more I look at it, the more I like it. It has a very substantial, European look to it that belies its price tag.
  9. I love the exterior... especially in grey and LTZ trim: I'm not impressed by the interior, though. It looks like a '90s GM concept car.
  10. iDrive/MMI/COMAND - great for secondary controls like programmable options (auto locks, cabin pre-heat, spotlight duration, valet mode, etc.) and car data (brake pad life, service history, recalls, etc.) Bluetooth - wonderful; can't think of a shortcoming NAV - voice command cures all; real-time traffic data is useful, too VVT - been available since the '80s; proven to be reliable
  11. Most pointless upgrade ever. How about improving day-to-day driveability first?
  12. Ford Escape/Mariner? The hybrid?
  13. An S-class competitor is a big risk because of the costs involved, but perhaps new Cadillac variants can spawn from the existing Sigma architecture. There won't be much of a variety in size, but there can be a choice of bodystyles and trim levels at different price points. A midsize sporty sedan, a midsize luxury sedan (like the ES), a large conservative sports sedan, a large outrageous sports sedan (like the CLS), a large luxury sedan, a LWB luxury sedan, a convertible, a wagon, a crossover, a roadster... It won't be a very traditional segment-based line-up, but who knows...
  14. So are a lot of import brands. DCX = German
  15. Yes. How about ONE car from GM that gets 30 old-EPA MPG city. GM's Tahoes and Enclaves are gorgeous, but their small offerings are nowhere as sought after or appealing. An iconic "car for all people" (MINI, Prius) would be great... Ford has the opportunity with their "Model T" name.
  16. 1) Saturn Outlook/GMC Acadia 2) BMW X5 3) Ford Edge
  17. I agree. The 7-series (DTS) can wait... concentrate on world-class 3s (CTS) and 5s (STS) first. The Escalade fills the role of a profitable halo vehicle nicely... better so than the XLR.
  18. Million billion giftcards... Starbucks, A&F, Borders, Jamba Juice, In-N-Out, Chilis/Macaroni Grill/On the Border/Maggianos, Best Buy, Regal Cinemas...
  19. In no particular order... Mazda3 -- regarded as some sort of small car jewel, but if you ignore the big wheels and tech options, it's gloomy, dreary, and overpriced Sonata -- regarded as the car that will turn Hyundai into a serious contender, but it's plagued with mediocre quality and no attention to detail 300 -- distinctive looking and, in C/SRT-8 trims, very powerful, but it's cheap inside and insuitable as a traditional midsize family car replacement; a one-hit wonder Solstice -- good looking, yes, but it's cheaply made and they forgot some important things... like the trunk Odyssey -- best minivan out there, yes, but not as perfect as the reviews make it seem; awful transmission on '99-'04 models LS460 -- lots of technology and comfort, yes, but it looks like a LWB Camry, doesn't handle, and doesn't stop Camry -- thoroughly mediocre sedan that has nothing going for it, yet it's the best selling car in the US RX350/400h -- luxury performance 22 MPG hybrid that's less powerful than the $10K cheaper RX350; RX -- undeserving of its best-seller title Flying Spur -- a glorified Phaeton lacking the class of a proper Bentley, but rappers and fat boys love 'em Escalade -- a glorified Yukon Denali with an inhospitable third row
  20. What specific things? It doesn't take a long-term test-drive to know how mediocre and dated it is. Mmmmmm...
  21. I drained the oil and filled up the tranny... drove about 50 miles today and it seems fine.
  22. Don't forget the Freestyle, too, which is faster, more efficient, and better handling than the Freestar, AND seats seven more comfortably.
