  3. My newest desktop, don't be surprised by it, it represents my company car!
  4. Yawn! Edit: ahhhh the memories, it is a well known fact that I love to play computer games. If you look it says administrator by my name, so I must know how to run forums. It's also common knowledge that I run/have run/will run servers, in the past/present/future, must be why I have 2 terabytes of free disk space at my disposal. I do have some low level computer skills. That was one of my best sigs I ever made. It was kickass nerdish. :AH-HA_wink:
  5. Yes, who is this Borger I hear so much about? Now CD you do know I am plugged into the net, almost as if I were a human Cray supercomputer. Nothing, and I do mean nothing escapes my gaze! <------ (PCS made a funny) Congrats on the article, it was well deserved. Perhaps we will meet sometime soon, since we seem to travel in the same circles. I will be leaving soon enough from my beloved Delaware, it seems there was a VP of Production at the Wilmington plant in the past week or so, perhaps things are looking up there. I love the smell of new product in the morning! Well you certainly see who your friends are on a thread like this, (or not)! Ok CD, I'll race you to Melbourne, you are going I hope and will I see you in Swaziland next month in beautiful Geneva? Keep up the good work CD, as will I on my end too. I look forward to my return to the USA in November so I can pull the lever for Obama! Yes we can! :AH-HA_wink:
  6. Well, well, well, where to begin? I guess the main reason I wanted to post this, is to inform those that PM me though this site, you will no longer get a response from me if you use this site to reach me. Do I hate C&G you may be asking yourself? The answer is no, I just love GM Europe (GME) more. As this post shows, I have not been banned by the staff here at C&G from posting, but then I never did anything to warrant such a ban in the 1st place. GME and myself have simply come to an agreement that my posting here has served it's purpose, and it's time for GME and myself to move on, we have much work to do, as you can well imagine, which is why I got promoted, and why now, it would not be appropriate for me to post here, or anywhere for that matter. On that point GME and I are in 100% agreement. Do I now or did I in the past hate anyone on C&G, no not in the least, some of you have become very good friends of mine on here, others were just simply viewed as challenges by me, but I don't hate. It's really not in my nature to hate anyone, I travel around the world for GM, so it would not be wise to have preconceived ideas about people in general. Some are interested in what I do for GM, the better question would be, what I have done for GM and where I have worked. I started my GM career at the Arlington Assembly plant, in of all places Arlington, TX, see I'm a TexAss boy at heart (Yee Haa). I do believe at that time Arlington was still part of GMAD. Later I worked for C-P-C (Chevrolet, Pontiac, GM Canada), then B-O-C (Buick, Oldsmobile, Cadillac), still later I worked for LAD (Lansing Automotive Division), which was all small cars in GMNA. which is how I got to Wilmington since they were building the Corsica at the time, I reported directly to LAD in Lansing, not Wilmington, so no, I was not tied to production as some have speculated here. My next assignment was to work with Opel and Wilmington plant personnel to help get the Saturn LS off the ground, which was based off the old Opel Vectra at that time. As Opel became more and more involved in Wilmington I became more involved in Opel, since I speak fluent German it was a natural progression. Later that year Saturn decided that they just couldn't live without me since I was scheduled to return to LAD, and made a job offer to me, which I refused and made a counter offer to work for Opel instead and that way, I would still be there for Saturn when needed. My offer was quickly accepted by Opel and Saturn both, which asked LAD to give me to them. A few years later GM decided to bring Saturn into the GM family and used Opel and myself to help in that, which is why you see Saturn as it is today, a fully integrated part of GM, offering Opel Products to North America. In October of 2007 I was promoted out of Opel and into GME and now I just received another promotion two weeks ago. I know to some it must feel like I have always worked for GME, but it's only been since last October. Anyway, that's the short version of my GM history, for those that wanted to know. In the near future many things will be changing soon, some if not many you are not going to like, but the rules have changed since CAFE and CO2 regulations that are pending so GM will change because of it and internal politics within GM itself, there is always that aspect too. In the end, I would suggest you get the vehicles you want now, if you can afford them, because the time frame they will be available will be limited. I am in the USA, I landed yesterday, my father is very ill again and is in the hospital, so I will be here a few days for that. If any of you would like to remain in touch with me there are only two ways to do that, either by MSN or Yahoo, I will not respond to PM's here any longer. Just so you know. My contact ID's. Yahoo = mdfborger MSN = [email protected] In closing, it has been my great pleasure to get to know many of you here, I wish you all well. Der Bö®gÉr
  7. Wildcat how can I tell you information like that without losing my job? As it is now, I hint at plans that are going to happen soon, then when they are officially announced, I then say see there you go. No one hated seeing Oldsmobile go more than I did, it should have been Saturn that got the axe in my view. How much money has GM invested in Saturn to make it the Oldsmobile of today? Or at least make that brand the torchbearer of what Oldsmobile use to be.
  8. Camino, I am not advocating any one of them, what I said is they are being discussed, and many many more too. I can't say all that is being discussed, but trust me there are a great many more.
  9. As a gesture of my good will on this forum, I will remove my Amy Winehous sig, it was put up as a joke anyway.
  10. Ven, that is not a vendetta, we spoke of this possibility many times on MSN, I actually told you many options are on the table and moving Buick to a Chinese brand only was being discussed, I didn't say it to hurt you or threaten you but to remind you of that. Something has to give, to meet CAFE and CO2, yeah it was given in a tongue in cheek way, but it got your attention didn't it? What should GM do to meet CAFE and CO2 regs, should it be Killing Zeta, Killing a Brand, Moving a Brand, offer no V8's etc, etc, there re many things on the table and many things being discussed to meet these issues head on, when I say GM is going to use Frog Farts to run engines, do you take that as Gospel too? Come on!
  11. I point out what will take place in the near future no more no less. As far as caring about how GM is portrayed, as I look at a history of your post, most if not all are very critical of GM, according to you GM can't do much right at all. I don't take that approach, I believe GME's direction will be what saves GM from itself. Just because you have an issue on my style to me, is a personal one, I don't particularly like yours either. I have broken no rule in posting and I try for the most part to keep my language clean. I find it funny that my words could hurt you so, this is a forum, if you don't like the message just ignore it, that's what I do to the majority of yours, or simply block me. As for my personal views I own two V8's and one V6 and will drive them for a long, long while even if gas goes to 10 bucks a gallon, I stand ready to order a CTS-V soon, so I don't hate V8's, but I do realize that GM has to change to survive in the long run. Like I said if I were to die tomorrow, nothing will change, what's coming is still going to come, you can either brace yourself for the changes, or not, that's your choice. I understand change is scary, but sometimes it's necessary. If I never post here again, I hope you all realize that. I think CheersandGears is bigger than your narrow view of it, what drew me here was this "GM's Biggest fans and Toughest Critics", I am most likely that in a nutshell. But if I am voted off the Island just because you don't like my views or how they are relayed, then tell me that I will go of my own free will, It's just a forum after all, and my life and GM will go on. However if membership is by committee as you suggest, perhaps you need to post that somewhere, so future members will know the rules when you don't like someone.
  12. Rick Kranz Automotive News January 28, 2008 - 12:01 am ET DETROIT — Never mind fuel cells, plug-ins or diesels. To achieve quick improvements in fuel economy, General Motors is adopting an off-the-shelf technology: small engines with turbochargers. Next year GM will introduce a turbocharged 1.4-liter gasoline engine for small U.S. cars. The Chevrolet Cobalt and Saturn Astra are candidates for the engine, which is available without a turbocharger in the European Opel Astra. GM engineering chief Jim Queen confirmed the company's plans to use the powertrain and said it could be used in mid-sized vehicles, too. "You're going to see turbocharged four-cylinders in vehicles that no one could have ever imagined that they would be in," he said. Queen did not indicate where the engines would be made or predict their fuel economy. The 2008 Cobalt with its 2.2-liter engine gets 33 mpg highway and 24 city. Automakers find turbochargers a cost-effective way to improve fuel economy. This month Ford Motor Co. announced its EcoBoost system, a turbocharged gasoline engine with direct injection. Next year EcoBoost will debut on the Lincoln MKS sedan. By 2012, Ford expects to have as many as 500,000 EcoBoost vehicles on the road in North America. The 1.4-liter turbocharged engine is small by U.S. standards. With its 1.6-liter powertrain, the Korean-built Chevrolet Aveo currently has the smallest GM engine sold in the United States. The Saturn Astra has a 1.8-liter engine. Turbochargers could cost GM $200 to $450 per vehicle depending on the system's sophistication, said Jim Hall, director of industry analysis at 2953 Analytics in suburban Detroit.
  13. Is that what you do turbo200 when you don't like someone? Odd I thought this was a forum, where people discuss different views and communicate ideas. It's not me you dislike turbo200, in fact you don't even know me. What you dislike are, the things I've said are starting to come true. It's GM's message not mine. However it's a sobering thought what GM must do to survive as a company, but trust me on this, it will do them. It has to! As for me, I will go on record to say I don't dislike anyone, not in my nature.
  14. I am one of the most loyal GME employees. I see what CPF says is true, the V8 will be vastly curtailed in the next few years do to CAFE and CO2 rules in Europe and the USA. The Zeta will be left behind, like the dinosaur it is. It's the wrong car for the wrong time, plain and simple. Sorry cyclonic even in GM it's the world of the fittest when it comes to product, get use to the 1.4 turbo diesels of the world, if you can't adapt to that like the dinosaurs, you will die out. Sad but true. And even if I never post another word here, you won't be able to stop what's coming, the EU and American governments will see to that, standards have been set to which GM has agreed to. You shouldn't be angry that you backed the wrong horse, but try to see the logic in smaller cars with smaller engines that get good horsepower, that's the wave of the future my friend, you can either ride the wave or drown. Your choice!
  15. Who's threatening, I'm thinking outside the box so both the G8 and Camaro can live to see more than 2 model years. I think if GM got rid of Buick in North America so the G8 and Camaro could live longer lives would be a fair trade off.
  16. Wasn't the action lifestyle how they marketed the Pontiac Aztek? I love when History repeats itself.
  17. Well you know I'm sure GME could always take out Buick too. It would be easy to kill off the 3 models in North America and let Buick be a Chinese only brand. Easy as pie as a matter of fact. Then maybe both the G8 and Camaro could live. :AH-HA_wink:
  18. It will go as a new FWD model is installed at Pontiac, if Pontiac survives that is. This new model will help GM with CAFE in the long run. Besides which would you rather have if you had to choose, a G8 or a Camaro? Tough choice I know, but some must die so others can live.
  19. Better hurry, rumor has it only two model years of the G8, before CAFE cuts it off at the knees.
  20. In April 1993 a Chinese delegation approached GM with an order of vehicles it wanted to purchase. The Chinese toured both the Wilmington & Terrytown Assembly plants. Then they placed their order, the Chinese order included 3,600 Chevrolet Corsica sedans and 1,000 Chevrolet Lumina APV mini-vans. The Chinese insisted at that time that the radios and air conditioners needed to be deleted and the engine had to be one that could use leaded gasoline. I have a friend that works at Shanghai GM, and he repoets to me everytime he sees one of the rare old Chevy Corsicas. Yep some are still on the road there. 21. That got through before CPF said no more, after the new CO2 rules go into effect that car will no longer exist in the UK.
  22. May you have as many happy years driving a W car as I have. Congrats!
  23. I always enjoyed going to the Baltimore show whenever I got the chance, but I haven't had the opportunity to go in quite a while.
  24. I wasn't going to say anything about this. All I will say is GME will not be helping Holden either with Zeta or Alpha.
  25. I think Mussolini wrote it!
