  9. It's GM design, not Pontiac design, or Buick design, or Chevy design, etc, There are only GM Global Design Centers. Same with engineering, it's GM Global Engineering. There are no more divisions, there is only GM, who manages brands. GM Global Design Centers Map GM Design Europe - I am most familiar with this design center.
  10. Pontiac Acadian Canso SD (Canadian)
  11. Thought I would start off a Pontiac Gallery!
  12. This always baffles me, the only difference between the 2 brands are the badging (GMC vs Chevrolet) and slight differences in the grille and headlights. Other than that, Chevy and GMC trucks are the same, they are built at the same plants with the same components (engines, transmissions, etc), so why you would pick a Dodge over a Chevy, if GMC wasn't produced, to me just doesn't make logical sense.
  13. Wow 3 - 5 thousand hybrids, that will keep Oshawa humming! That truck plant is dead!
  14. Saab was hosting the Saab Ice Experience, it included driving all kinds of Saab vehicles on the ice track and a stay (overnight or longer) in an Ice Hotel that was built out of huge blocks of ice. The furniture and and bed were carved out of ice, with animal furs (don't know if they were real or not) used as sheets and blankets. There was a bar carved out of ice that only sold drinks made with Absolut Vodka which as you may know is a Swedish brand of vodka, produced near Åhus, Scania, in southern Sweden. It helped keep you warm.
  15. Jeez Mr. Peabody, I must have hit the wrong button on the Wayback machine. It's either 1982 when the movie The Wall came out or it's 1979 when the double album with the same name was released. :rotflmao:
  16. Yuck and more Yuck!
  17. Some Saab Pics for y'all!
  18. Think more like 40k and GM still won't make any money off of it at 1st.
  19. The next major development in the hybrid space is expected in 2010, when GM’s Chevy Volt, a plug-in hybrid electric vehicle, is expected to go into production. The vehicle can charge off a common household outlet. By Roland Jones Associate editor MSNBC Time was when hybrid gas-electric vehicles appealed only to the greenest car consumers more concerned about saving the environment than saving on gasoline bills. Gas prices hitting $4 a gallon have changed all that. Now there’s an out-and-out stampede to buy hybrid vehicles, as drivers downscale from large SUVs to smaller, more fuel-efficient cars. Popular models like the Honda Civic Hybrid are in short supply, and dealers are reporting waiting lists. Toyota, maker of the popular Prius, is struggling to keep up with booming demand. The Japanese automaker said this week it’s unable to make enough batteries to supply demand for the hybrids, and the crunch on battery production is likely to remain a problem for the rest of the year. It’s clear that for many consumers hybrids have gone from an eco-friendly fad to a virtual necessity. Now the issue for many drivers is whether they should jump on the hybrid bandwagon now or wait for some of the new hybrid models expected to arrive in showrooms over the next few years. One issue is that, even though gas prices are at record levels, hybrids are priced at a significant premium over similar, conventional models. Depending on how much you drive, it could take years to make up the extra cost with savings at the pump. (See our “Hybrid payback” interactive above for information on the payback of some of the most popular hybrids currently available.) “A lot people are freaked out by high gas prices right now, and they’re making panicked decisions that impact their finances, so it’s probably not the best time to get into a hybrid car,” said Phil Reed, consumer advice editor at automobile information Web site Edmunds.com. “We are still in a plateau in terms of hybrid development and there’s nothing very new out there, and what’s available right now is high-priced,” Reed said. “The entire automotive industry is reshaping itself, so if you have a car that you can keep for a few more years it might be a good time to relax and wait for some of the good things that are about to come out." The next major development in the hybrid space is expected in 2010, when GM’s Chevy Volt, a plug-in hybrid electric vehicle, is expected to go into production, says Aaron Bragman, an automotive analyst at consultancy Global Insight. The Volt, which can be recharged from a home electrical outlet, is expected to go on sale in early 2011 and may be worth waiting for, said Bragman. Link: http://www.msnbc.msn.com/id/25188772/
  20. I know I couldn't resist and bought another 100 shares of GM.
  21. DETROIT -- In another blow to beleaguered U.S. automakers, Standard & Poor's on Friday said it may cut its ratings on Ford Motor Co., General Motors and Chrysler LLC, citing financial damage resulting from high gasoline prices. Bonds and shares of Ford and GM extended losses, while the cost of protecting their debt rose. S&P said it was concerned about cash outflows from all three automakers as high gas prices erode demand for sport utility vehicles and pickups. The "dire state" of the vehicle finance market was also worrisome, S&P said. The rating agency also said it may cut its ratings on automakers' finance units Ford Motor Credit Co. and DaimlerChrysler Financial Services Americas LLC, as well as GM's 49 percent-owned finance affiliate GMAC LLC. The rating warning came after Ford said it would post a deeper loss for its auto business this year and warned it would be difficult to avoid a loss in 2009. That was a weaker outlook than Ford offered just last month. "All of the factors behind Ford's weaker guidance also apply to the other U.S.-based automakers," S&P said in a statement. Sales of light trucks and SUVs, historically key profit centers for the automakers, have plunged as consumers shift to more fuel-efficient cars. "Although these segments have been weak for some time, the exodus of demand that began in April, caused by escalating gas prices and consumer preferences for smaller vehicles, is gathering speed," S&P said in a statement. Ford's shares were down 55 cents, or 8.7 percent to $5.77, while GM's shares fell 95 cents or 6.4 percent to $13.84 on the New York stock exchange. Automakers' bonds, hurt earlier by Ford's lowered guidance, extended losses. Link: http://www.autonews.com/article/20080620/A...paign_id=alerts
