  1. Makes me miss my lab. We had to put her down a few months ago but she lived till twelve which is pretty good for larger dogs. They are such smart gentle dogs and I'm trying to convince my folks to get another. Bella looks like she belongs in pet product adds she's so beutiful. Many happy returns Bella!
  2. '09 CTS-V '09 Camaro SS GMC Acadia SLT AWD
  3. I've done 80 0hour weeks before but that many hours in one month is freakin nuts
  4. I drive by a complex set of rules. If I'm driving in the fast lane people are welcome to merge into the lane if they are going faster then me, an extremley rare feet. If that's not the case I'm no way no how. I respect truckers as well and am also aware of their larger blindspots so to help them out and not get smeared on the side of the road I give them leaway. I'll let someone merge in front of me in the right lane if they need to get off if they arent an ass and didnt wait for the last second. If it was a GM car I would do what I could to let them in regardless. As for disabled vehicles I will, time permitting since I run on an extremley tight schedule usually, pull over and help it, A it's a GM vehicle which it usually isn't, B- it's an elderly person or C- if It's a mother with young children. If it's none of these three and they don't appear in immenent bodily harm tough luck I'm a busy guy and you bought a crap car.
  5. One of my teemates fathers just got a new loaded v6 ltz this weekend. When I saw him pull into the parking area at randall's island I was suprised to say the least. I asked him how his dad liked it and he said he loved it. I asked what his trade was and he told me a 2003 bmw 325! Interesting conquest to say the least.
  6. why won't anyone take me for cereal! Seriously though. Gore is such a phoney. He goes on and on about hybrid cars and then he has an incrediably eco UNfreindly house that more than undoes whatever good he is doing for the enviorment by owning a Prius.
  7. I find that by this time (I'm a senior and know everyone, can buy booze legally and am totally networked into New Rochelle - where my school Iona College is) I can score o easily when I feel like putting in the effort. I tried keeping a relationship going in college but there is rarley someone i am compatible to have one with and if there is they aren't interested in a serious relationship. I've been loving senior year for the most part and I'm really looking forward to my super senior year next year - I'm double majoring and I took a semester off to work last year.
  8. Just put down my 500 deposit... I can already taste the RWD V8 goodness
  9. Since a loaded CTS is more than I could resposiably justify I have "Settled" on the G8 since it is a sleak and sexy RWD v8 small block machine that is supposed to remind the driver of the last generation M5. With the price coming in this low and my Mets post season refund coming through, I wil be putting my $500 deposit down as soon as that money clears into my account to ensure I get this very resonably priced beast of a car.
  10. ^^^ That argument is a bynch of BS considering that pushrod powered v8s in GM products lead the truck and SUV segments in terms of milage over comparable DOHC engines. The displacment is irrellevant, what matters is A- power produced B- fuel eco. C- reliability The pushrods LEAD all current pickup DOHC v8s in fuel econemy, are fully competitive in terms of power and tend to be far more reliable and deffinetly easier to maintain and cheaper to fix because they are an inherently cheaper design. How gives a sh!t about who has more better hp/displacment if the bigger just as powerful motor is both lighter and gets better fuel econemy. End of argument, thanks and come again... ...That being said I have every confidence in GM powertrain and if they decided they want to build a range topping monster of a DOHC v8 I'm all for it, I'm sure it won't eat cam shafts.

  12. ^^^ I know so many people who got screwed (or screwed themselves) by buing a car which was switched over to full synthetic and then at a later change had normal oil put in it. Synthetic is great stuff but if you go back to normal oil afterward all your seals in the engine are shot.
  13. The Borg are totally bad ass. End of story.
  14. Good for you 68! my brother got divorced from his 1st wife after 5 yeasr when it gradually came to light that she was abused by her family and had mental issues and only married my brother because he felt safe with him and never really loved him. My brother got full custodedy of their daughter since he was the only one that could provide a stable home and remarried in about the same ammount of time one of his best friends who evidently was already hopelessly in love with him but couldn't do anything when he was married. Its been a year and a half and they are still as happy as the day yhey got married. Good luck to you sir, and the new addition. (my brother and his new wife are expecting too!)
  15. I've only been supporting myself, well 99 percent anyways, for 2/5 years, since I was 19.5, and I already have seen myself fall into the overspending trap. My brother is an excellent budget maker and follower. He, and my dad who was pretty much forced to retire from ltigating IP law as a senior partner at a lawfirm that he made very good money, who know works part time as legal consel for Yale University, pull in between them about 165k a year - 90k my brother's dean sallary, 50k my dad's salalry and 25k tax free from my Dad's disability insurance. The living situation is thus- My brother his wife and daoughter, (with another little one on the way) moved back in with my mom and Dad to help out dad with his illness since I was going off to school (this was a few years ago.) They did this because my brother couldnt' afford nearly as nice a place in southern CT on his own and by getting a big house with multiple kitchens laundry etc. it saves money for all concerned in terms of housing and my Mom is automatic free babysitting. Now family debt breaks down something like this. 550k on the mortgage. Sounds like a lot, maybe, but we live in brand new construction which has 7 bedrooms 5.5 bathrooms 2.5 kitchens with seperate guest suite and appartement and pool (Dad needs pool for physical therapy though we all enjoy it). Now this may look like a lot but when a crap house costs 500k in these parts and this house cost 1.5 mil it's not a terrible amount owed. So we have 550k there, 45k in education loans for me, never more than 5k in credit card ballance, usually much lower and is always kept on 0 percent cards, and a combined 1100 in car payments for 3 cars (not counting my own.) add in taxes, utillities and such (healthcare is mercifully included in both their university jobs as perks) and you can see how 165k a year doesn't leave much extra, we often think we have money problems but when I think about most of America it's horrible... Plus we have other assets, saved over time. My dad has a substantial retirment portfollio that as of know would yeild 75k a year in annuity. He has a small pension with Yale, and my brother has one that is approaching respecitbility and my brother still finds a way to put about 5k a year into an education acount for his kids. My dad's just lucky my brother budgets him because he cant budget $h!. He and my mom nerver lived extravegently, he made good money and would always have extra for that, "extra expense." Now that he doens't I'm glad he's in theis living arangment because it works well for all invovled. As for me as the one person not part of the "Family economic comune." I lived beyond my means a bit last year. I ammassed 3k in credit card debt that I have been keeping on 0 percent cards. It was all spent on stupid idiotic things that I ddin't need so know in addition to my rent, car payment, health insurance and car insurance both of which I pay my dad for since he gets better rates than me (only way I cheat on supporting myself), cellphone uttilities, food, gas etc, I have about 1800 a month in fixed expenses myself, and I am a college kids who freaking rents. Prices are deffinetly going up faster than 3% and I deffinetly see much more displacement of upper middle/ lower upperclass familys. Everbody should take a step back and make sure that they can afford what they have, and if they can, they should think twice about getting that extra car or boat or anything. Just because you can afford it now doesn't mean you'll alwasy be able to.
  16. I've already heard that there will be a paddle shift manumatic as an option. So what? Most AMG's are auto. It's not like there will ONLY be auto and no choice for a manual. It caters to a broader customer base
  17. 2008 CTS DI loaded, black interior deark grey exterior.
  18. ^^^ trueness. My mom's intrigue failed automatically because it was throwing an SES engine code. The didn't even see if ti related to the emissions, to most state emissions facitilities these days a SES light is an auto fail regardless of what it means. Turns out the intrigue was throwing a MAF air sensore malfunction code because the air box had gotten clogged with crap. I used a friends scanner to figure out eh code then pulled apart the airbox to take a loog arouund and it was loaded with road junk. Cleaned it out, reset the PCM and drove it around for a few days. The SES stayed off, I broguth it back to the test site and it passed with flying colors.
  19. K.C., You cut me to the quick sir. Though at least I agree with you about the Yankees. They are like the evil emprise with their enormous payroll just trying to buy championships.
  20. ^^^ once again I'm right with you on letting people by in the left lane. If they want to go 100 they can act as a rabbit for all I care.
  21. Baseball is in the last quarter of the season and it is shaping up to be a very close race to the post season with 18 teams being within seven games of their division lead. I'm a rabid Mets fan and am hoping to see my team make the playoffs for the second year in a row. Here are my pridictions for the end of the regular season AL Divsions- East - Boston Central - Detroit West - Angels Wild card - Seattle NL Divisions- East - Mets Central - Milwaukee West - Diamond Backs Wild Card - Phillies That's what I think the post season will look like but a lot can happen in these last 5 weeks of the season.
  22. alright I have to admit I am a bit of a tailgater. But the only time I tailgate is when somebody is going slow in the fast lane of a parkway or interstate. The left lane is for people who want to drive fast. The right and or center lanes are meant for people who want to drive slower. It especially drives me nut when on a three lane highway there are three people exactly next to eachother driving hte same speed. Roadhead also annoys me because I almost got sideswiped by somebody when he busted.
  23. Hey all, First I checked the entire forum rules that I could find and I didn't see anything that says I couldn't promote this here. If that is the case my sincere apologizes to the mods. I will be starting my new bartending job at McFadden’s in NYC this coming Thursday evening. It's the end of the summer party so it should be especially crazy. The place has good food, good booze and great music so if you're a C&G person around the city this Thursday stop by at or after 10 PM. Say "I'm here because of Dan" at the door and I'll make sure to give extra buybacks on top of the already great drink specials for anyone here. McFadden’s is convenient to Grand Central, only a few blocks away at the corner of 42nd and 2nd. If anyone is seriously interested in coming, I'll count myself lucky if I get even 1 C&Ger, post here and I'll post an updated pic of myself so that you can recognize me at the bar. Cheers, Dan PS. This job will go a long way to helping me help GM by leasing a new CTS in 6 months, so don't do this to support me. Do it for GM!
  24. The options can raise the price fast. You can get the 3 door to a bit over 22 grand with all the listed options (no i didn't screw up and add the 5 door only options) and there could very well be more options not yet listed. It's not terrible but I expected the redline to top out at this price.
  25. Since I'm paid as a contractor I can, with enough advanced notice, take all the time off I want... I just don't get a dime for the time off. This has lead me to not taking more than two days off in over three years. My dad had a rough work schedule as an attorney for a quite a while. When he became a senior partner when I was 4 he had much better hours and he, as part owner of the firm, could take any resonable amount of time off as long as it didn't affect an ongoing case. Now my Dad is a prof/ legal counsil at Yale and my older brother is a dean there and they get 3 weeks paid vacaction a year, plus a long school wide vacation during Chrsitmas, and during the summer months they both get fridays off. Those bastards...
