  1. 50 Percent mick and 50 percent i-tie for me
  2. started a new job in January. 40k for 35 hour work weeks but with bonus and overtime I'll most likley clear at least 70k for the year, more likley 75k. Of course I live in NY so cost of living is high as well. My girlfriend makes about 10-15k a year in part time jobs and we live together so our combined war chest is between 80 and 90 k a year. Our biggest monthly expense is 1050 in rent for our 1 bedroom apt.
  3. It is interresting how the Mustang was so close in the scoring to the camaro. I think that the mustang has matured very well with the new redisign. It is not a faster car then the camaro but it lays down its power with more efficency and it's light weight helps make up for 75 out of the 100 or so horsepower difference. the fact that the stang is 4.9 to 60 and 13.5 through the quarter when the comaro is 4.6 and 13.0 is really amazing. Add to that the act that they are so close to eachother in braking and handling test and I would say that the camaro, while a world class car and clearly better then the mustang, is only marginally better, which is a credit to the mustang's performance and not a jab against the camaro. When the mustang gets the 400hp 5.0 dohc and 6 speed transmissions next year this will have to be revaluated, the finishing order may have to change,
  4. Let's go Mets! Hopefully they shake this septemebr meltdown syndrum theyv'e been having. New bullpen and healthy starters are going to make the difference.
  5. Carbiz, I know what you mean, I was in incredible shape after 4 years of highschool track and 3 of football along with 2 years of college D1 crew and a year and a half of rugby. I worked out 6 days a week somedays twice! I stopped cold turkey a year I took off for a paid internship. ate like $h!, drank to much. For the first six months I didnt put on much weight. The by month ten though it was a different story. I started out in the best shape of my life, 5'9 190 with like 8 percent body fat and ended up at 210, though I really gained like 30lbs of lard since I lost muscle too. Right now I'm about 190 again though I'm probably around 12 percent body fat and I'm maybe 85 percent as in shape as I used to be. It's a long road back but I have positive momentum and am trying to loose that last 8 or 9 lbs and but the same ammount of muscle back on.
  6. Capt. Booyah, you looked pretty built in your pic in the pic thread, what is your split like for the three heavy days? I'm slowly but surly recovering lost size and strength from my last rugby season where I started every game and got the crap kicked out of me. My split is Day1 chest, day2 arms (bi/tri forearm), day 3 back/legs (want to break this up if I get back to 5 days a week) and day 4 shoudlers/traps
  7. Hi guys, I've been working tons of overtime latley and have been barely making it to the gym because I'm tired and not motivated enough to want to go. I've still been making it 4 times a week though I'd prefer 5 at about 1:15 a clip (50 minutes lifting 20 or so for cardio) Who here works out regulalry and do you have problems fitting it in your daily routine.
  8. Didn't Olds develop the auto trans first?
  9. Looks like GM has axed the engine. I think it's a terrible idea if true, but there is some hope that they may get somebody else to manufacture it and GM could still put it in their trucks I guess. I hope they find a way to put this in the 1500s somehow. Link from MT http://wot.motortrend.com/6481157/auto-new...gine/index.html

    I saw...

My old house used to be less then a mile from Paul Newman. He used to jog a loop that would go past my house. One time he did it with Robert Redford. Also Tom cruise used to have a house not to far from me. Saw him drive in and out once or twice
  11. hmmmm. an 07 srx is interesting but i'd only want it AWD northstar which would get pricy fast. She likes the new Nox quite a bit and a nicley optioned LT with the 255hp 3.0 v6 shouldn't be too expensive. We're not in a rush right now. I won't even be up for an isurance renewal to add her to my plan for another 2.5 months, I prepaid my insurance for the last 6 so I don;t want to go adding stuff mid policy. We eliminated the Vue so we're down to the Nox or the jeep with an outside chance of the SRX. She like's caddies but feels they are a little to flashy for people our age to own.
  12. my girl doesn't want any fake jeeps. She does like the wrangler unlimited but i'm stearing here away from that because it takes a year and a day to get to 60 and it can't go muh faster than that. Plus on road it handles like $h!, I've driven one a few times. As a general rule I like fast cars. so factor that in to the equation since I will be driving this on ocassion and I am paying for it.
  13. Hey all, My GF needs a car and can't afford one, so, since we are extremley serious with wedding bells in the future, I decided to be a good BF and get her one. Now I'm not going off half cocked and buying her a car that will be in her name in case things don't work out (It will be in my name and I'll add her to my insurance) but I'm find of excited by the prospect of getting an SUV to backup my Mustand for the winter time. So I laid down the law and told her we could have 20-25k budget for anything domestic. So this is what the options are Saturn Vue- 2010 Equinox Jeep Cheroke. Normally these would would either be stripper models for the price range or used but these days you can get the Vue and Jeep really cheap. the new 'nox is an outside choice if we wait but it looks like a well optioned normally 35kish jeep with the Hemi can be bout for the low 20's. What do you guys think? I think the hemi is a big plus. how is reliability of the jeep? Should I wait for the Chevy? Also, my folks Aura is coming off lease soon. My dad is wondering if they will update the 'bu with the new DI engines from the Nox. Any chance of that?
  14. these morgage payments are insanley low! I mean seriously a nice 3-4 bed 2.5 bath house around Westchester county NY costs like 500k I'm going to make about 65k this year but its all spoken for, paying down my mustang fast, paying for my last semester of school out of pocket and some other back expenses I owe. I can't believe what I have to do, starting next year, in order to get a house. Next year I'll have 1500 a month taken from my paycheck depostited into a high yield savings account. Thats 18000. The year after that, when my GF is done with school, she is going to take over most of our daily living expenses (rent, food, phone etc.) about 17-20k a year, so I I can start putting away 45k a year. In 4 years or so when I reach about 150k in savings (I would have saved more but engagment rings and weddings cost a fair amount to even though we're not going crazy with it) we figure we would be able to afford a 600k house. Our plan is to check forclosures and fixer uppers that are structurally sound with good wiring and plumbing (don't worry I'll get a full blown insepction done) for like 450 k and then renovating the house top to bottom with the rest of the money. So that's my five year plan. like Moi's five year plan or Captain Kirk's five eyar mission. I can't wait to stop paying rent though. 1100 a month for a 1 bedroom is cheap around where I live but I'll still have laid out over 60k (about a CTS-V) by the time I get my house
  15. I love my current generation Mustang GT. The 5 speed stick shifts better than many GM manuals, the engine, while not as powerful as a chevy LS V8, is smooth loud has lots of personality and is plenty powerful enough. I've alwasy been a huge GM fan but I branched out and got the stang because I wanted a Pony car that was thoroghly modern. That being said I figure I will be in the market for a replacment in about another two years, basically when my girlfriend graduates from college so she can start sharing the bills. When that time rolls around I will be looking at the Camaro and the Mustang. Initially I was 100 percent chevy but after living with my mustang for a while and really enjoying it, plus reading how much more refined the new 2010 stang is and how quick it is and how well it handles with the track pack (despite how small the power upgrade was) I was brought back to about 50/50. Also, while I give the chevy a small lead in exterior style I like the new Mustang interior much more. Lastly the mustang has a huge ace up its sleave that could seal the deal. if in 2011 the mustang gets the cyote 5.0 32v 400hp V8 as the new GT v8 I seriosly doubt the comaro will be able to keep up. the 2010 mustang does 0-60 in 4.9 with the track pack and only 315 hp. the comaro is expected to do 0-60 in 4.7. I seriorsly doubt the comaro will be faster when the stang upgrades by 85 hp. We shall see.
  16. I know what you mean with the job market. It is terrible. I got laid off in october and I couldn't for the life of me get another regular job. I did temp work a bit, lots of temping going on, because no one is actually hiring, and bar-tended to defray my cost of living but I was still running in the red that whole time and burned through all my 6000 in savings. Finally just yesterday after over 45 applications, 3 head hunters and 7 interviews I got a good salaried job with great benefits that is a step up from my last paralegal position. Having good credentials but not too much job experience will be good for you because people are still looking for entry positions to replace more highly paid senior employes. On another note I've been trying to help my Girl Friend finish separating her life and becoming independent from her substance abusing, abusive and mentally unbalanced mother. After getting her mostly set up on her own she is having issues leaving her mother on her own to self destruct so the last few weeks we have been talking her into a halfway house/sobriety program. I'm heading back down to long island this weekend to help her mom pack up her apartment and get her on her way to the rehab place. Domestic issues can be so fun, right DF?
  17. You may not have cash but if its only 3500 and it's something you really love why don't you just write an access check off a credit card for it? That's how I bought my mustang since 2% intrest beats the 7 I was going to get from a car loan.
  18. My last tank in the stang average 20.9 mpg. A fair amount of town driving and I was driving the highway parts more aggresivley than usuall, since I've been late this whol;e week. I'm still doing really well in the mustang all things considered. 2500 miles since I got it I've averaged 23.8 miles with my best tank being 25.9 mpg.
  19. That's a pretty slick looking wagon
  20. Ford's really not in that bad a shape all things considered. Cars are doing very well for the year, actually up by a fraction year to date, as are crossover sales. Trucks and Suv's are down of course but but Ford's actually managed to make segment wide increases where as GM will be making increases in the Epsilons while loosing cars from the W bodies and so forth. Gm's problem is that they can't come out with enough of their new excellent products at one time for an enitre lineup to be rellevant and class leading at the same time. Ford's cars are all on a similar product cycle so within 2 years or so of eachother they are all updated and new. Updates are coming to the already fairly competitive midsize, fullsize cars and small crossovers next year all at the same time. This is really going to help Ford. The bold moves are really paying off.
  21. Took a road trip this week and went 328 miles on 14 gallons in the stang. Equalls a little more than 23.4 mpg. Not bad at all. Would have done better exept there were a few big pockets of stop and go traffic and crappy road conditions.
  22. We'll i'll finally get some pics up even though I've been driving here for a month in another week or so. Then I will have detailed her and have replacment pony package center caps on the wheels to replace the booring blue ovals.
  23. Hey guys, I'm curious exactly what this is and how to get it, how it combines with other incentives. My GF is looking at getting either a Equinox Sport or a Vue XR very soon and I'm not doing well sorting through all the insentives. We don't want to finance more than 20k and she has a 4-5 k trade. I know were going to need some incentives to get those trime levels. what can we combine in order to make this happen and can the employee discount help us/ how do we get it?
  24. I just realized something. 3 years ago my family's fleet was much less powerful but at the same time more fuel effiecent. As gas prices go up we've been buying cars with BIGGER and more POWERFUL engines. Here's the comparison. Me Then '01 3.4 alero 170 hp 200 ftlbs ----------- Now '05 4.6 mustang gt 300 hp 320 ftlbs Brother Then '02 2.2 Alero 140 hp 150 ftlbs ----------- Now '06 4.0 Mustang 210 hp 240 ftlbs Sister in law Then '96 2.2 accord 135 hp 140ftlbs ------------- Now '06 3.5 Vue 248hp 250 ftlbs Mom/Dad's car Then '00 3.5 Intrigue 215 HP 230 ftlbs -------- Now '07 3.6 Aura 252 hp 251 ftlbs So as fuel prices go up and up my family has added 350 hp and 341 ftbls of tourqe to out fleet. The American way at ist best! Anyone else have a similar situation?
  25. Wondering if this is the v6 since we've seen dual dual exhaust in some pics
