I'm split, Styling wise it is perfect. A really handsome car that is perfect for the more conservative softer lux segments. It even manages to fit into this segment without completley blending in, not an easy ballance to strike. The interior is spectacular. Class leading by far. Ride and NVH look to be perfect as well which leaves my biggest are of concern... Powertrains. First the fact that the 3.0 is so slow while providing no real advantage in fuel econ. is a real issue. Whats the point besides making the fraction of people who get the CSX pay more for the engine? The engine isn't any cheaper to make or barley is because it basically is the 3.6 with a different displacment and tune. Also why no AWD on the CSX? To my way of thinking the 3.6 should be standard with the the CSX getting a DI version of the 2.8T at about 320 hp and tourque. Don't even get me started on the 2.4. That car is going to be dog slow. Still I'd give it 4 out of 5 stars, a really solid effort. If its replacing the Lucerne in the lineup more then the lacrosse i guess the fact that it's not a barn burner is alright as long as the next regal gets the cobalt SS 2.0 DI turbo making close to 300 hp so Buick can have a real sport model in the lineup for those who like a real sleaper.

What Sports Do You Like And Which Teams Do You Follow?
intrigued replied to Oracle of Delphi's topic in The Lounge
MLB: New York Mets Football: NY Giants Hockey: NY Rangers Rugby: All Blacks (cause they're bad ass), US Eagles (cause you have to suppor tthe home team, even if we are a 2nd rate rugby country) Baseball and Rugby are my favorite sports -
"We also have a 1LT model coming in unsold which with over 300 HP would blow still blow the doors off my buddy's 4.6 L Mustang GT. Direct Injection Rocks!!!" I hardly think so since the GT with the 4.6 is only about .2 seconds of the SS to 60 and .5 through the quarter. the 3.6 DI gets about 5.9 to 60 in the camaro (best that I was able to find) vs the Gt with the 4.6 getting 4.9. It's all about power to weight. The 3.6 DI camaro DOES blow the 4.0 Mustang V6 out of the water but next year the Mustang gets the 24v DOHC 3.7 with between 275 and 300 hp. I expect that mustang to perform better than the v6 camaro as well.

The tranny is supposed to take those hard launches since it has the "launch control" feature.

Here is a short list that were all the problems I could find in the last ten days on Camaro5, which is a pro Camaro site. "my month old car broke already" http://camaro5.com/forums/showthread.php?t=29893 "anyone else having transmission issues" http://camaro5.com/forums/showthread.php?t=30415 "launch control = epic fail" http://camaro5.com/forums/showthread.php?t=30226 "l99 owners with slow car issues" http://camaro5.com/forums/showthread.php?t=29948 "so we get stuck with the low end tremec??" http://camaro5.com/forums/showthread.php?t=30370 "transmission clicking" http://camaro5.com/forums/showthread.php?t=30184 "tranmission clicking when accelerating" http://camaro5.com/forums/showthread.php?t=29206 "report on my broken SS" http://camaro5.com/forums/showthread.php?t=30120 "my trunk wont open" http://camaro5.com/forums/showthread.php?t=29767 "tranmission output shaft problem" http://camaro5.com/forums/showthread.php?t=29989 "i have no power!" http://camaro5.com/forums/showthread.php?t=26635 "tranmission clicking noise" http://camaro5.com/forums/showthread.php?t=28696 "bad paint on new ss" http://camaro5.com/forums/showthread.php?t=28641 "more bad paint on cars held in QC" http://camaro5.com/forums/showthread.php?t=29737 "whining noise from transmission" http://camaro5.com/forums/showthread.php?t=29202 "24 hours old back in the shop!" http://camaro5.com/forums/showthread.php?t=29758 "trunk opening issue" http://camaro5.com/forums/showthread.php?t=29559 "interior is starting to fall apart?" http://camaro5.com/forums/showthread.php?t=28686 "interior panel issues" http://camaro5.com/forums/showthread.php?t=27588 "power steering went out and trunk not opening" http://camaro5.com/forums/showthread.php?t=28471 "7 day old car wont start!" http://camaro5.com/forums/showthread.php?t=28096 "engine keeps dying" http://camaro5.com/forums/showthread.php?t=25608 Some of these are really terrible issues and this is just a small cross section of complaints I've read online. The new Camaro has been disapointing to me so far. The most common "really really bad" issue is the manual tranny sh!tting the bed, with broken halfshafts amoung other things when launched, especially in conjunction with GMs launch control.

Where are all the other sales figures? They have to be out by now. It would be nice to have them to compare with GM's

a new Nox will likely cost more the way i would want to equip it, plus being brand new it would not have any incentives and also on the off chance that I would have to lemon law it I don't want to be issued a check that bounces by a banckrupt GM . Chrysler was issuing bad checks when they people lemon lawed their cars during their bankruptcy period.

As some of you know I have an 05 Mustang GT. It's in near mint condition with only one minor blemish on the whole car andI take good care of it for the most part. That said, I've run into some situations over the last year that have brought me face to face with the ocassional disadvantage of owning a RWD coupe. My girlfriend and I, (we live together and are getting married in the next 18-24 months once we save some money) love going snowboarding in the winter. I'm a good driver and i can drive a RWD car in the snow but its one thing driving it around in crappy wheather locally in the tristate area then it is to take a 6 hour drive up to white face mountain with all the hills and grades with heavily snowed and unplowed roads. I did it seveal time last year and managed it without major incident but it did et exciting on ocassion... Also this last year Moving a ton of crap around I have come to really want something with more than two door. Now don't worry, my girlfriend also needs a car very badly and I easily have the means to afford a 2nd vehicle to go along with my mustang so we have settled on getting a loaded up ford escape. We want a black on tan V6 AWD. The escape had nice cosmetic updates last year and the 09 has new drivetrain updates. The 3.0 v6 makes 240 hp on regular and 250 with E86 and it has a 6 speed auto. fuel economy is very good, it drives very well on road while providing some utility, has a cool truckish look to it and just strikes a sweat spot that happens to fit all of our wants and demands very well. I would have considered a GM but frankly I want to support the only non government supported domestic at the momment, especially since Ford's quality has only been going up, and I have had such a good experience with my mustang. Now comes the questions. The escape I have priced has come out to 28K MSRP. From what I see its eligible for 0 percent financing if I qualify, as well as no payments for 3 months. Is this accurate? are their other incentives I could take advantage of if I go to buy it this weekend? Also its been a little while since I've bought a car new. What do you recommend I do to get the best deal?

All I got in Driver's Ed was a shitty N-Body Malibu...
intrigued replied to Intrepidation's topic in The Lounge
My insurance rape is to the tune of 315 a month. Thats my own fault because I'm a single male under the age of 25 who has a serious ding on his driving record (misdomeaner DUI) I took the MADD program and had the charges expunged so I have no criminal record but It hangs around on my license history for 3 years. I have 1.5 years to go before it drops off my driving record. I feel that I'm not paying too much considering I have that ony my record and a 2005 mustang GT. It helps i've never had another moving violation. In about 2 years my insurance is going to be through the floor because I'll be getting married, turning 25 and having the DUI come off my driving record all about the same time. Though I will also be buying a 2012 mustang GT with the new 400 hp v8 then so we'll see... -

My drivers Ed school had brand new TDI VW golfs back in 2002 when I was getting my license. -
Also in the pony car wars, the new mustang posted 8812 sales this month. The Camaro 5463. The mustang was down less than 1000 from the same month last year. I know it's way to early to make any conclusions in terms of sales crown but so far it doesn't appear if the Camaro is making much of a dent in the new stang. It could be that most Camaro fans are just so different from most mustang fans that even though they are in the same segment there isn't much cross shopping... Anyways, way to soon to tell as there are still some 09 stangs on the lots, neither the 2010 mustang or camaro are fully ramped up and the summer is when these cars sell. It will be interesting to revisit this when we have all the sales data through the end of August.

I think that the new Fusion is going to be a hit. The hybrid is class leading and all the other power trains are now at least among best in class. 6 speeds all around, AWD option best handling car in class most reliable very fuel efficient, SYNC, Nav... This is a really great car! After a year or two orf traction in the market and some improvment on the economy could this be like the Taurus in 1986?

My family old Caddy-Old-GMC dealer which swapped in pontiac for Olds when Olds went under was a giant dealer, 150 cars on the main lot minimum went out of business. It could have gone under qnytime in the last 6 months though. I just noticed it when I passed by for the first time in a while this past weekend.

^^^ I had a weak SS as well, 2006 maibu SS sedan, not really worthy of the SS name but still a decent car with some above average midsize fwd performance for the day at a good price.

batending can really suck somtimes. Most places wont let you work on good nights at first unless they break you in as a promotional bartender who canbring a big crowd. This is easy to do for a few nights but eventually your friends get tired of coming out night after night to support you. If you make the transition from promotional/guest bartender to staff bartender and get gaurenteed shifts you usually need to pick up a crappy shift or two with the good ones, nothings worse than a sunday, monday or tuesday unless there are big sporting events going on. Also the econemy is really affection how often people go out and spend money and how much they tip. I used to make 300 or so on a "primetime night" thursday-saturday at the places I've worked at. the last month I was bartending (feb 09) I was lucky to be making over 150, regardless of how crowded the bar was. Then there is the ugly side of bartending, people throwing up at bars and having to clean it up, cleaning the place at 4 AM after closing before you can go home. The better the night business and tip wise the worse the mess is at the bar. Dealing with drunk assholes who start fights and underage kids who give you attitude. Don't get me wrong it can be a ton of fun, especially if all your friends are out and your drinking too, but it can get real old realy fast with all the bull $h! and working 4-5 nights a week at times. It's not always the sexy, fun, easy money job it is cracked up to be.

1. Capt. James T. Kirk (either that shatner or new chris pine variety, both are bad ass, total ladies man, sleeps with green alien hotties in the new movie!) 2. Iron man/Tony Stark (Robert Downey Jr. made the role) 3. Admiral William Adama (the guy is hust so badass, love BSG, going to miss it) 4. Scotty (the McGyver of space, great in either classic or fresh variety) 5. Indiana Jones (has the braines and the brawn and gets all the Ladies)

My income has more than doubled in the past year but so has my expesnes through July at least, that's because I leased a new apartment while still carrying the old one for a 4 months, as well as paying off the debt I have piled up from when i was unemployed for several months. When I'm in my new place without carrying the old one and everything settles down by July my monthly expenses will have gone down to Rent: 1050 for nice 900 Sqft apt with parking spot. Car payment: $300 (I owe $11000 left on my mustang) Insurance: $250 (besides being a 22 year old male the only reason this is so high is because the only driving violation I've ever had was a beut) Phone: $200 I pay for both my phone and my girl friends cause Im a nice guy lol $120 in cable/internet $200 in student loans. Im at $1920 fixed expenses for the month starting in July. Not so bad, defiinetly less then what i was paying, plus my GF buys all the groceries and stuff since I pay the rent and all the big expenses.

As someone who works in one of the top IP firms in the country, listed As tier 1 in terms of Patent protection and prosecution this sure hits close to home. China is trying to bully people out of their hard work and virtually close the tech gap overnight through trade blackmail. I hope the US gov does something for a change and stand up to them by barring any US company from selling out their patents. There are plenty of places who would be willing to manufacture razor blades and circut boards for us. Our IP and services industries are all this country has left. Maybe we can bring some manufacturing back home per chance? It would make some jobs.... This could seriously lead to a trade war. It smacks of Tom Clancy novels, especially Debt of Honor, executive orders, and the Bear and the Dragon. Debt of honor in particular is pertinent to this (a trade war starts between Japan and the US over the trade deficit and unfair trade laws.) We certainly live in interesting times...

This really is depressing news. I am still a fan of domestic vehicles but have moved on from being exclusivly a GM fan. Camino I've been through this before. As you can tell from my name I was the biggest Olds. There was nothing that I wanted more then a new cutlass somewhere down the line after I got my license, or an OSV alero, and down the line I when I was older I would get an Aurora. GM crushed those dreams for me when they stupidly got rid of what was, at the time, the best ballanced and most inovative of their "middle of the road" divisions. I had my swang song with Olds, buying a used alero gls which I loved. Eventually I decided to try and move on but to where? Nothing in the GM stable in the mid 2000's had the sleek timless styling of the last generation Oldsmobiles. I eventually settled on a Malibu SS and while it was a good car for what it was and the price paid, I came to the realization I liked my since traded in alero better and that GM wasnt making any cars that really grabbed my attention aside from Caddy, whih is way to expensive for someone my age. I was considering a G6 coupe When my brother got a Mustang. At first I scoffed at him. It was a Ford! I'm a GM guy! No way no how would I ever be in one of those. When my brother pulled into the driveway I had to think twice. Boy the new Mustang was a looker, way better then the old pre 2005s. After a year or so of his car being around and driving it a number of times which only impressed me more I found myself trying to find excuses to drive his car. I thought "wow I really like this Car! I was thoroughly bored with my Malibu so I sold it found used but mint 2005 GT and bought it. Ever since then I have been exctied about the thought of driving my car every day for the last year. I love almost everything about it and the few nitpicks I have with Ford has fixed with the 2010 Mustang. I will be buying a new one in about two years, after I've gotten some more use out of my current pony and the new 5.0 DOHC motor is put in the GT. This is a long drwan out story but the point is I understand where you're coming from. I know how particular you are about new cars since you always have your old ones to fall back on but just keep your eyes open and you may wind up in something that's fresh and exxciting! G mwill survive even if its not the same GM we loved and I for one will always consider their products for purchase even if I've marginally become a ford guy. GM's just kicked me in the face one to many times for me to be exclsuivley a GM fanboy anymore, now I'm a domestic car guy with a slightly greater intrest in ford.

^^^ I beg to differ. I hate when I was working fulltime as a bartender. I'm a pretty damn good bartender but after I lost my day job at the end of last summer I had to start bartending every night to make ends meet (up to that point I bartend once a week for extra cash and free drinks) Dealing with the same drunk assholes day in and out sucked. Your friends can be even more anoying when yo let them get wasted for cheap then your run of the mill drunk assholes. Cleaning up puke and the general bar grind at the end of the night and throwing out people who are acting like dickwads gets old real fast. And while a slow night may be easy it also means you didnt make much money. Conclusion: Bartending sucks even though you are around beer (I actually used to really like it before I had to do it 6 days a week)
-
I wish I could make enough to only work 50 hours. but when your saving for an engagment ring and have tons of other expense 65 to 75 hours has been my norm. That said it sucks that you cant stack it up so you dont have to work on the weekends. Not having one or two days a week all to your self, even resulting in rediculous hours on the weekdays is a real grind.

I've been all about high level outlet stores like nordstrum rack latley. I got a final clearance chasmere Hugo Boss coat that I saw going for 1200 in the winter for 190 with tax. With the economy being so $h!ty theres a lot more good stuff filtering down to the outlets.
