its funny from all my years of track and field, and the even more european sports that I play or did, rowing and nor rugby, I feel as comfortable with metric as I do with imperial, infact I often think of field lengths in terms of meters and I can give pretty acurate estimated soncersions in my head in a second or two/

I stayed at my roomates and my house last night for the first time in a few weeks, had summer classes in the morning before work and didnt feel like getting up at 6 to travel south twards new yokr with the commuter traffic so I came down at night and slept over. our thermastat on our bedroom level was blnking 87. It had been so cool up untill recently that we didnt bother getting the AC put in and now im paying for it. I ended up sleeping downstairs on a couch because it was 8 degrees cooler.

The thumb shifter is works alright and honestly I is a faster way to shift then a normal manumatic but it doesnt look as cool as a manumatic like the g6 has with the gate shifter, plus the tranny is very very responsive in drive and shifts faster than I can shift the car anyway.

of my malibu SS sedan. I absolutley love it. The graphite colored cloth/leather interior with the faux aluminum trim, 3 spoke wheel and other SS trim bits is really sharp. the 3.9 is deffinetly fast in this lighter malibu than it is in teh g6 gtp and the gtp was getting very respectable mid to low 0-60 times and good quarter mile times to begin with. The sport suspension and hurdallic steering are very well balllanced and calibrated and I like the tossability and handling of the shorter wheelbase epsilon though it makes for noticably more tourqe steer than the long wheelbase cars. My car is black with a sunroof. Only option it doesnt have is the 6 disk changer and XM radio. I absolutley love this car and will post pictures soon. Ohh and if you turn off traction control you can burnout for like at leat 10 seconds but I only did that once till I get this baby broken in. Ill post pics in a day or so. Fair the well alero you served me well, hopfully you will serve you 3rd owner as well.

all you need to do is find out if the engine has the same bolt patterns as the tranny, upgrade the clutch and otherwise beef up the tranny and your good

GM makes a 2.0 ecoteck SC crate engine you can buy for like 2 grand though I dont know if your tranny would mate with it or not. Do you have the manual BV? that would stand a better chance.

I really liked the GP gxp and I found a demo I could lease for 240 a month but Im not into leasing. I really like the idea of the malibu as a sleeper. Ive been looking for reviews of the malibu SS sedan today and most places all I find is a quicky on the maxx ss that gives driving impreshions but no hard performance numbers except for a crazy high 7.8 0-60 estimate. That is nuts as the g6 auto 3.9 is supposed to be 6.6 and thats a heavier car. When I drove the SS it blew the doors off my alero and the alero is about 7.8. anyone have any good reviews online or recall any good mag reviews with good test data.

Yeah it pretty much has to be a sedan also northstar, I haul to many people around to have a coupe though if I had the means I would also have a sky redline, lol.

I testdrove the SS SC, and was very impressed with the car, once I brushed off my stick driving skills, but its to small for my taste, I need somthing with a little more utility and space for hauling junk around, plus im just used to a midsized car and dont really want a manual even though they are fun since I drive into NYC a lot. Obviously this isnt the best epsilon drivetrain with the 3.6/6 speed combo coming this summer but its the best that fits into my budget and I am actually getting it cheaper than the cobalt SS, since its has been on the lot for a few months. The interior is really classy in person with the fake aluminum trim being reallying convincing and the black interior is really sharp. Also the shorter wheelbase makes this car park more easily as the long one on the g6 is counter intituive for me (though I would obviously adjust with more drive time) and it is easier to hustle around a lot of corner. Fuel econemy isnt great but it is acceptable and acceleration off the line is awsome, much better than I was expecting, I think even better than the 3.9 g6 i drove because ofthe lighter weight. anyone else want to contriute? Other GM options? I need to come out to 350 a month payments with nothing but my alero as downpayment, most dealers give me 5 grand on trade.

Hey all, been a while since I posted but since i am off for summer and usually have some downtime at work i will be posting more. My alero recently suffered damage to its steering rack and several other parts of the power stearing do to injested road debris from the crappy roads of new rochelle. the repairs are expensive, more than half the value of the car so I am cosidering getting out of it and into a new car yet again but thistime, more serioursly as it only has a few more months of usablitily before it needs to be reparied or replaced. While getting the car diagnosed at the chevy dealer I bought it from I sat in, and then test drove a malibu SS. It was black on black and had the sunroof (only thing not standard). I was really impressed with the way it drove. It was more tossable then the g6 gtp I test drove probably because of the shorter wheel base. IT accelerated very strongly, deffinetly in the mid 6's to 60 is rated at 19 city 26 high which isnt terrible and the interior, besided for the gauges which werent bad just a little plain, was othereise nicer than the g6. I was very impressed, and all this came in at a mere 24,500. I crunched some numbers with the dealer andwith no money down (just the alero as a trade) I can get this baby for 18 grand, or out the door 350 a month. Do you guys think ishould bite? I really like this car and I have to make up my mind this wee because they want to sell it this month. What do you guys think?

Id recommend the intrigue, its been the best GM product we have ever had in terms of low operating cost. Total in the ammount of time that we have had the car (new in 2000 and it now has 105k miles) 1 new set of brakes and 1 new set of tires, oil changes every 5-6k miles with the oil light. This car took the lumps of me leraning how to drive and has had so many different drivers its rediculous. The 3.5 shortstar is very smooth gets good gas mileage and accelerates great. Car looks sleek especially in dark colors. For your money in the midsize you cant go wrong with the intrigue.

I was in a cube for 2 montsh before I earned my first promotion and got myself an office, id hate to be back in a cube, always feel like someone is wathing over your shoulder.

whenver I see an intrigue on the road, first car i actually drove and its still one I get to drive on ocassion.
-
That sucks about the roof, always thought it was a cool feature.
-
hmm ive driven the 3.9 wuth the 6 speed and its really nice, also any ls4 powered car or truck, id more have to choose gm combos i dont like lol, i like the 3.4 4t45 combo in my alero. I love the 3.5 in my folks intrigue but I dont like the gearing of the tranny ewith it, 3 to 4th grear is ti much of a jump.

ok, take the US rear end and the China front and sides minus the standup hood ornament, that amazing interior the upcoming 3.6 DI with about 300 hp and the new hydramatic 6 speed sell it for 30-33 grand as the lacrosse CXS and it will destroy the lexus cometition not to mention just about every FWD near luxury car on the market and some rear drivers also.

I think that it is the blue collar jobs that made up the bulk of opur middle class contribute largley to the class shrinking. The manufacturing jobs are not increasing at the same rate as inflation anymore because if they do they end up getting sent overseas to other countries that get cheaper labor. White collar isnt the same, with networking I got my paralegal job when I was still just 18 right after my freshman year of college. If I worked it full time all year I would make about 50k a year. That's because I met people at parties in highschool that I made good impreshions on and I have won a couple of regional writing awards and I know how to talk to people and make a good impreshion. So I landed myself this job. The only advantage I had from my parents besideds being good parents is they sent me to a good private highschool at large personal cost. I also struck it good with some friends in college. I became his friend first but I latter found out that one of my roomates dad is the VP of human resources and JP Morgan Chase. I make it a point to keep up with that companyy and talk to the guys father at l;east once a month. White collar is where its at if you want to make money and can work in an office invironment. If you are good at netwrking and can sell yourself you can make big money. As for nobody ever "owning" their home thats even more true around "affluent" area's like NYC and the suburbs surrounding it. Our house is worth three million dollars. We have been here long enough to have it payed down to the point where we "only" have 500k left on the mortgage but we will sell before its paid off in a year or two when my dad retires and buy a house abouth another 40 miles away from where we live in westport CT. The house will cost less than half as much and be just as nice if not nicer. Then we will own it and have money left over. And im not bragging about some house that my dad bought with inheretied money or a plush nepotistic job, my mom put him through lawschool and payed rent on their small 1 bedroom apartment in boston for 3 years and he made his money as an attorney from there his only real benefit being he had college payed fro by his parents. It can still be done there are still plenty of self made men but the field of opportunity has narrowed and the last great bastion of good-high paying jobs left in america is white collar postions, largley in the service indusrty.

I see the tundra taking some titan sales and maybe some dodge sales as they are the least competitve domestics, I see GMS gmt900 taking sales to and I dont think gm will lose any market share in pickups.

Im a paralegal part time and I made 29k last year from may when I started through december. I payed part of my tuition I have a scholarship and my dad payes half of the remainder so thats 8 grand twards tuition im at 21 grand, payed my auto insurance 1800 on my 01 alero, payed for gas 1200, brakes struts and springs in my 2000, lets see that brings me to, 13 grand spent. I put 8 grand into a CD and the remainder I spent in good times, good food and some new clothes. a lot of wasted money once the school year starts... most on booze and good times but whatever at least I made sure to put some money away some place I couldnt touch it. Next year I get a raise and will have worked this job a full year but I gotta pay my rent 550 a month with utilities next year im going to try and budget myself more save a littel more money and hopefuly buy a g6 gtp this summer which I could have at red tag if I hadnt wasted so much money o nbooxe lol.

I predict that the new silvarado and Sierra will kill these trucks. First off do we know what 6 banger is going to be used in the gmt 900s? I am predicting the 4.2 atlas I6 with 290 hp and 278 ftlbs or maybe they will tune it more for torque but it will still have plenty of power. then we go to the 4.8 v8 with 290 plus hp and 300 plus ft/lbs. great low cost v8 option and ist a pushrod to. If it gets DOD it will smash toyota's 4.7 in both horespoeer and torque as well as fuel economy. then you go to the 5.3 which makes 320, 340 right now as well as great fuel econemy numbers. That should be right in the ball park power and tourque wise than a larger DOHC engine, imagine that a more powerful pushrod with lest displacment and better fuel economy. Then toyota runs out of engines and GM has both 6.0 and 6.2 v8s making much more power than this new 5.7. 6 speeds will also be standard on some and withing aother year become standard across the line for GM. Combine that with the new GMT 900 interiors which I think are amazing even class leading and more conservative handsome styling and I dont see how Totyota can gain much. GM will likely out perform that at every trim level and have more options besides with an excellent interior and more traditional and in my opinion better looks.

you are correct the engine shares an entrilely different block with teh new 3.9 vvt

^^^ haha I talked my parents into buying a 2000 intrigue gls instead of moving to a park ave to replace my moms totalled olds regency when I was 13. They have thanked me for it ever since, now I have total veto power over whatever car they are condiering.

that would be awsome if they reskinned the recently cancelled Ion design as a pontiac
