no auto = a ton of custom parts usually. There arent many mannys that can just bolt onto that thing. At least the hydramatics are built for it.

the worst part about dropping bigger engines like the 3800 sc in an n-bdoy is trying to get the 4t65e to fit in there or beefing up the 4t40 or 45 to handle the power of the larger engines. Cool engineswaps, though torque steer must be a beyotch

I'm really interested to see what else the LS3 makes its way into. A lot of the LS2 cars are either being dropped or replaced. No more GTO or SSR or CTS-V(for a year). will the G8 get the LS3? Camaro? I heard that was supposed to get a 6.2 liter engine. Impala SS maybe? I don't think the new CTS-V will get it, 450hp is a lot less than we've been hearing the new CTS-V will be getting. The possibilities...

looks even hotter. IF it continues to look this good and has an interior like the holdens this will be my next car on a few conditions. it has to have NAV it has to have an LSD 6 speed auto at least the LS2. And it needs to come loaded for 35k or less. I love the new CTS but loaded the way Id want it it will be 5-10k out of my price range to out right buy it. I could afford to take on the car payment but I wouldnt want to. My next car i will buy outright and this looks like it will do the job and thne some for me. If Iit has the new LS3 even better.

I'm a little skeptical that iw will use the AU drive trains. The GTO got the LS2 when the old manaro just had the last generation 6.0 if Im not mistaken.

If the G8 turns out as sexy as I thin kit will and it, has v8 power and a good price I may just get this over the new CTS, from a price point and performance perspective (at least till the V comes out) I'm sure the Pontiac will be the better car. A few questions though. 1. How much is this likley to cost? Maxing in the low 30's? 2. What drivetrains are likley. Maybe the new 6.2 LS3 base engine from the updates vette? That would be sweet. 3. What's the time frame? ITs supposed to be out the same time as the new CTS right?

hehe, 63 hour week last week, 57 hours during the week and 6 on saturday. I gotta be careful about bumping myself up a tax bracket. Stupid taxes, maybe I shoul;d start an S chapter corperation like my boss and pay myself in dividends. Thatr would be cool.

Dude, im sorry, some people just aren't meant to drive. Lack of Karma or something. I dont know. I had a friend who had a focus. 8 accidents. Only 1 his fault. The car had 12 grand worth of body work and then got totalled when it was parked by a drunk driver. He doesnt drive anymore. When his car was totalled the only original body panel was the roof.

2006 was a year where I got all new gear, bought myself all new gear to clarify. New 2006 malibu SS - still owe 10k on it but thats not bad starting with a 25 k car. new gold clubs - callaways NEw laptop Thinkapd Z61t core DUO 2.0 ghz 1024 mb drr2 ram 80gb HDD 8xDVD burner combo drive 14 inch widescreen ratio. Just wish it had a better GPU but it has great battery life, is compact, powerful and looks slick with the titanium top. New desktop. Built it myself in last week of december wen I decided I wanted a game PC again, have only had the time to play for 3 hours since then. Pentium D cpu @ 3.4 ghz 4096 mb of corsair XMS2 DDR2 pc 6400 320 gb western digital HDD 256 mb GDDR3 geforce 7950 GT 2x (lite on 20x dvd burners) I have it hooked up to CSW 300 watt 2.1 speakers and a 19 inch LCD. So many toys in 2006! I will deffinetly pay off the malibu in a few months, and I already have substantial savings for a new car. Either I will get a toy, like a saturn sky redline, within the year, or I will consider trading the 'BU on a new CTS. Then I am going to try and be fiscally resposiable in 2008. Gotta stop renting and start buying property instead of cars and stuff or at least saving twards it.

2007 Toyota Tundra CrewMax
intrigued replied to Variance's topic in North American International Auto Show in Detroit (NAIAS)
Umm yeah GM has also extracted 400 ftlbs and even more horepower from a 5.7 liter PUSHROD engine. Im nt impressed with the new Tundra. I agree with Lutz, it will do well by destroying the Titan, and myabe take a nip out of ford and dodge. -
Oh come on, more than 50 percent of campuses are "dry campuses" that doesnt make that big a difference. It just chenges how people store booze! I used to have a decoy minifridge in my room than a second one umder my bed in a trunk. I had about 20 other creative ways of temperarily storing booze in large quantities for parties. One tme we had 50 people in my 8 person suite and we got raided. The booze was away in like 30 seconds because we played it smart and they couldnt find it without violating and student rights anyways. I did pretty well with a 34 party 6 writeups over 2 years. idnt get kicked out of the dorms till the end of soph. year at which point I had to go off capus anyway because there is no upper classmen housing...

2007 Toyota Tundra CrewMax

Purley a drive train perspective here The 5.7 is impressive. Other than that the drive trains are lame The v6 models will be primarily up against the 4.8 small block (yes I know GM has a crap base v6 but thats really almost exculsivley for fleet duty and besides Im sure the 4.8 will line up with the toyo v6 price wise.) that means that the toyo will be short about 60 hp and 40 ftlbs in the first comparison. And still not get better fuel economy. The 4.7 will lineup against the 5.3 and make about 40 hp less and the same touqe while getting significantly less MPG The 5.7 will beat the vorteck MAX by about 13 hp and 25 ftlbs which is a noticble if not huge margin but it will get absolutley slaughtered in fuel econemy. Oh yeah the GMC version has a 6.2 with 403 hp and more tourque to boot topping the toyo 5.7. This engine will likley come over to the chevy sometime as an SS. Lets not even touch on the duramax with 360hp and a monster 700 or so ftlbs, or the fact that we have heard recently of increased diseal options coming to GM, including another smaller v8. GM destroys Toyota's powertrain offering as far as I'm concerned. The new Tundra is just like the titan when it first came out. One good engine to go up against 5 good engines. -
^^^ I would have written a letter about that stupid pig. And for your first court "appearance" You usually don't talk to a DA. ITs almost always a town clerk. This makes it a little less intimidating. You want to talk to the town clerk and TRY, town code permititng to get ri of your points here. The clerk will just have more work if this goes to trial so He will usually try and help you out where as an DA might have this attitude or might have an AX to grind with teen drivers, you never know.

I dreamt last night that I had clean dress socks for work today when I knew damn well I didnt. I realized this is silly there is no way I have clean socks so I woke up 10 minutes before my alarm to check. Sure enough no socks! Had to wear longish Kakis and athletic socks.

Here is my got a ticket story last year if it will help. I was doing about 35 in a 40 in my alero on the way to crew practice at 5 in the morning. Cop passes my in the oncoming lane. I stay cool because im barley going over the limit and figure he has no way of telling how fast I was going. All of a sudden I look in my rearview and I see the cop behind me lights flashing so I pull over. I was like WTF? how did he get back there? He comes to my window and I give the standard neutral voiced"is there a problem officer?" He responds do you have any idea how fast you were going? I had to go 60 mph to catch up with you." I know he's fishing at this point and he probably only pulled me over becasue he saw a car full of kids way to early in the morning and thought we were drunk. When he realized he was wrong he was trying to save face. I don't take the bait and respond, "im sorry officer I thought I was going the speed limit, it is 30 pmh here right? " He goes back to his car and comes back with an "imprudent speed" violation which in New Rochelle is equivilent to a 1-10 mph over ticket. In New Ro, I looked up the violation on LExis Nexis, the base violation is $250, but even worse is 3 points! I said screw this and pleased not guilty. It helps that I am a paralegal and I am good friends with one of the associates at my firm. He came and represented me for free (huge plus as his billing rate is 275 an hour) and came into court twice with me. Once to plead not guilty (and get bumped to the front of the line since I had representation) and the second time the asshole cop actual showed up to trial. My friend ripped him a new one! "officer was it dark out? was my client driving a black car? How did you jusdge his speed since you were oncoming?" etc. The judge got really pissed at the cop for writing me that bogus ticket and berated him. Then he dropped all charges and I was a free man so to speak. I would recommend trying to get the points dropped. Likely you would have to go to a pleading which you can do with or withou an attorney. You usually end up seeing the town clerk and he trys to keep you from going to trial by reducing the sentence. You should approach it as such. I really question the officers accuracy in his claim that I was going over the speed limit at all as the zones change. I am willing to pay a fine to avoid wasting anybodys time but I cant get points and kill my insurance so is there any lesser nonpoints charge you can change this to? For me in New Ro the local laws would only let the fine be halved and I would have had to keep the points. I chosse to take it to trial at that point. You will likley get a lenghtly time to find representation before trial if it goes that far and even more likley the cop won't show up in which case its dropped. Thats my experience and unoffical legal advice. Dont roll over on this as it will affect your insurance for years.

I know the CTS debutes on the 8th but does the online embargo lift before then?

^^^ might as well add a 442 to that list if your shooting that high.

I had about 6 beers (sam's winterfest) and about a bottle of champagne. I honestly was almsot completley fine, just a little tippsy when I took the train back to New Rochelle fromthe city (with my completley tanked roomate.) took him to the dinner to get him sobered up some and by the time we left there at 3:00 in the morning I felt I was fine to drive. I hit a checkpoint on the way home. Officer smelled booze on us and made me step out. I passed the sobriety test fine and was comfortably under the legal limit on the breathalizer. Officer complemented me on knowing when I was good to drive and then admonished me that I was drinking in general being underage by 7 months still. He let me go with just a verbal warning about that part since he saide I was good to drive and he was more concerned with getting drunks off the road then writing me a summons for underage drinking.

the graphite interior is hot, both with wood or metalic trim. My folks were looking at the aura to replace their intrigue but it looks like an LTZ with the 3.6 is number one on their list now.
-
so there will be no 3.5 OHV VVT mid trim v6 option? Thats interesting. Looks like Chevy is going the accord or Camry route with the majority of sales coming from 2.4 vvt 4 banger sales that can be ordered on even the highest trim unlike the past, with the 3.6 as a premium option. I wonder what pricing will be like and what the lowest trim and cheapest way to get the 3.6 will be as it appears to be the only v6 option.

I would say the best way to maximize sales and competitivness at Cadillac would be as follows. DTS- spends the rest of its roduct cycle getting no major updates and ends up goining away in 2010 or so. CTS- The new volume Caddy. Comes in Sedan, Coupe or wagon. 32k-42k price, 50-55k for V series. CTS engines, 3.6 standard with 275hp and 260 ftlbs. 3.6 DI with 315hp and 285 ftlbs. 6.2 supercharged LS9 with 600hp and 600 ftlbs. AWD optional 6 speed maual standard 6 speed auto optional on all models. Sales volume around 80k. STS- redesigned '09 with long wheelbase model available. Base price 45k-70k 3.6 DI with 315hp and 285 ftlbs, 4.8 DI northstar 375 hp 370 ftlbs, AWD optional 6 speed maual standard 6 speed auto optional on all models, AWD optional. Vseries 100k with 600hp 600 ftlb northstar DI 7.2 v12 Sales Volume 35-40k units a year. The SRX would have identicle drivetrains to the non V STS and be prices between the CTS and STS at 38k to 60k. Anual sales of about 40k XLR woud get new sheet metal and be updated with the new N* DI v8 and the v series would be replaced with the new v12. BRX Caddy, small cross over $30k-40k 3.6 standard with 275hp and 260 ftlbs. 3.6 DI with 315hp and 285 ftlbs. AWD optional 6 speed maual standard 6 speed auto optional on all models. Anual Sales of about 50k. Escalade stays the same with the possiable addition on the V12 option and slight updates. Last new model would be a Kappa based little brother for the XLR with 3.6 standard with 275hp and 260 ftlbs. 3.6 DI with 315hp and 285 ftlbs. would be priced 35k to 45k. sales volume of 10-15k a year. If you think about this proposed plan you could theoretically get this all out by late 2009 or so as none of these are on brand new platforms. WE alreadyknow that the 3.6 DI is almost read and a new northstar isnt to far away. The v12 has been developed to an extent though it would neew some more work to come to market and the LS9 is on the way. Beyond that the STS will be replaced right around then, the XLR wouldnt cost to much to do as it has a great platform and would share powertrains with the STS only needing new sheet metal. The BRX is planned already, the SRX could get another MCE, gaining a new grill the CTS/STS drivetrains to get up to date. The only car not planned is the kappa which would require some money to adequetly adapt to the 3.6 but ortherwise would still be 80 percent parts bin. That would be a VERY cool Cadillac lineup in 09 or '10 and is not TOO much of a stretch.
