Paulie, maybe I've got a laptop in the bathroom. :P No, I don't. I'd joke that my kidneys are stronger, except I've had kidney stones 5x and kidney cancer 1x.

That's the rear of the LaCrosse, below the trunk.

Methinks they'll pull a Buick Invicta (Roadmaster) out of Australia quicker than they're admitting. Here's where I'm confused: some spokesperson for Buick (a woman) recently said something to the effect that when customers come to a Buick salesroom this fall, they'll see somerthing very different. That could mean many things, perhaps simply that they're more and more channeled with Pontiac and GMC - otherwise I can't imagine what she's talking about.
-
Jerry Flint writes about Saturn in a recent article in Forbes. See if you agree with him.
-
Thanks, Paulie. It looks different, especially compared to that small thumbnail image of the Lucerne in the row of Buick models. The Buick insignia seems more upright. They're in a tough spot with the website - the LeSabre is supposedly sold out, so it could be dropped from the site. Yet the Lucerne evidently won't be ready for several more months. Maybe they keep the LeSabre on the website for name recognition (even though they were dumb enough to drop it) - nothing else going on, anyway.
-
On Buick's own website, buick.com, there is a small section, "Choose Your Buick," which shows a Buick Lucerne seemingly in motion. The grille looks to me more upright than what we've see before. Does anybody see what I see?

Sixty8panther: Why does Saturn need two RWD vehicles? Isn't that once again invading Buick and Pontiac territory?
-
My compliments all around... to C&G for the photo to Evok for the uncovered images to CD/BP for their input to Rear-Wheel Drive for some excellent questions and to everyone else for your enthusiasm! Now, please, GM, give Buick something out of this!
-
< after staring in amazement at the black Solstice in blackviper8891's signature > Pontiac'll be fine in a few years. Northstar: Your ideas for Buick may easily become reality, if you give the Lucerne a year or two and LaCrosse 'til 2010.
-
I presume they will hype the tasteful, new Buick Lucerne. I didn't watch Martha Stewart's talk show, etc. so how good of a fit is her approach with Buick's intended image? No prison jokes :o, please.
-
I personally like the wheels on the Corvette in Northstar's signature much better.

When GM launched the Pontiac Solstice with a segment on Donald Trump's Thursday night NBC reality TV show "The Apprentice" last season, a thousand people pre-ordered the car within an hour of watching the broadcast. Can similar interest be generated for Buick ^_^ , when it sponsors a "full-episode product integration" on the new Wednesday edition of "The Apprentice," hosted by Martha Stewart? (Maybe it won't necessarily be the same kind of episode, as which Trump's protegees helped to create an advertising campaign for the Solstice. GM isn't revealing details yet.) For the report, here is a direct link

ehaase: You may be right. But isn't that what Buick has been in recent memory? I just don't want them to eliminate it altogether, or to just give it all four-door sedans. Boring. I want something with utility, and suspect the Lambda crossover will be too big.
-
Here's the direct link to an August 22, 2005 Q&A between U.S. News & World Report and Mark LaNeve: "Q&A: GM's Marketing Chief" I sure hope he's not serious about 3 products for Buick.
-
LosAngeles: Actually, I'd agree with about everything you proposed. Of course, those are all idealistic -- rather than realistic -- changes. < selfishly and territorial > Except for the BLS going to Buick, 'cause Buick needs product and Cadillac is doing well right now as it is.
-
 No GM brands cut! Do a better job with what they have! Don't squander any more of their legacy like they did with Oldsmobile! <_< You wanna cut something, cut the pinhead executives who've let Buick and Pontiac be starved for proper ideas, products, positioning, and marketing.

"Three chords for beauty's sake, and one to pay the rent." 1.Buick Riviera 2.Buick Roadmaster 3.Buick Wildcat 4.Chevrolet Camaro P.S. - 5. Buick Rendezvous find a new vehicle to use that name on, since they're going to change the Lambda crossover's name to Centieme; maybe a sub-Theta crossover, "Rendezvous... where luxury and utility meet"

Nothing in the b.s. pipeline? That doesn't matter! Now for the truth: The G6 is here and now! The Solstice is here and now! The G6 convertible is almost here! A next-generation GTO is confirmed! A new 4-door RWD Pontiac is rumored! Isn't that sufficient?
-
Of course, the master of the road, above all else. Wasn't there, at one time, an advertising slogan to the effect of "the great American road belongs to Buick"?
-
Seeing all these Buicks images was great! Thanks to all the posters! HarleyEarl: Especially to you, for that '66 Buick Riviera and '67 Buick Skylark. Both gorgeous! Earth calling GM... Figure out the essence of those two cars and instill it in all present and future Buicks! To my eyes, lots of chrome looks good (not just "touches" of it, Mr. Lutz), though the Riviera's curvy, sexy shape seems to have had or needed little. And those Buick chrome road wheels on the Riviera and Skylark were beautiful!

CSpec: Yes, a Buick rebadge of the Chevrolet Equinox, for model year 2009.
-
moltar: Unless somebody knows something they're not yet revealing, two Buick cars may be it - for a number of years. Evidently we have to adjust the way we view Buick. In 2004, wasn't it considered a "full line"? So now, with the B-P-G channel, we know it is (or is heading toward) being one "portion" of a full line with Pontiac and GMC. So our old yardstick for measuring products can't continue to be used. Add Buick's two cars to however many Pontiac will have and that will be the total we should hold against previous years. Besides, as you know, the Century and Regal were too similar, as were the LeSabre and Park Avenue. So, under the present financial climate, if GM gives Buick at a minimum 4 or 5 great and really distinctive products, that's plenty.
-
Cananopie: Obviously, the Buick Lambda crossover (Centieme?) will be a very important product. And you'd think GM could fairly easily take the biggest Holden and rebadge it as Invicta, or Roadmaster if you prefer. But perhaps they need more time to sort out the Buick NA and Buick China products against the global portfolios, or the present products have to be allowed to run their course before they can fix things. (I trust that they don't want three 4-door sedans of approximately the same length, etc.) Of course, a Riviera, or Velite if you prefer, seems like another no-brainer, but what do you base it on? Hopefully not the Pontiac G6 with its convertible top problems.
-
GMTruckGuy74: Maybe by the time your friend wants to replace it, Buick will have something even better! HarleyEarl: I would have liked to have seen a second-generation Buick Rainier, at least to see what they would have done to replace the Bravada-like styling.

And we've been told that the Saturn comes first, then the GMC, then the Buick afterwards.
