  4. I guess if the auto business has or will be fundamentally changed within a few years, nothing wrong with GM considering a new logo. (There was a even recent thread on this board, asking where, if at all, GM should re-locate its corporate headquarters.) The round one that looks almost like a marble or eyeball is modern and it makes me think of a "global" GM, while the one with the countries showing on the globe seems too obvious. Those aside, the present GM logo has more of a connotation of a dignified "mark of excellence" for me.
  5. So Pontiac DOES have a future!
  6. What's a while? < b&w film footage showing hands of clock rapidly advancing > That was April 4th. It's now April 6th and he's back and posting in the Lounge.

  10. Hudson: We must be looking at two different images. With the one I asked about, the floor cannot be seen. (And I like to think I'd know the Buick Riviera Concept.) Also, when I mentioned the interior controls in blue, this is not like the Riviera's. These are just a horizontal row of buttons in blue which can be seen through the right passenger window.

  15. You mean they'll show an interest in all their brands? You mean they'll keep their products competitive and not let them rot on the vine? You mean they'll adequately fund their advertising? You mean they'll stop changing model names and brand taglines more often than their socks? Or you mean they'll be so far in hock because of the Volt ("success at any cost"!) that everything else will go to pot even faster than before? [ Sorry, I couldn't help being a sarcastic smarty... ]
  16. Well, let's see. They better not change it, since the "Aura" was COY. Then again, since GM was the one to drop the name Buick "LeSabre" after the car was the top seller in its class and to drop the name Buick "Century" after it won the quality or reliability (... whatever ...) awards, I suppose they'll change it from "Aura" to "Insignia." I can understand the logic in aligning the global products name-wise, but it just seems that GM changes model names and brand taglines/slogans too often. They need somebody who really cares in charge at each of the brands, not some warmed-over transfer who couldn't care less. Someone who'll guide the brand, long-term - like a Bob Lutz clone, but specialized for each brand.
  17. What I don't get is that, just yesterday, I saw some new poll that 80% of Americans believe the country is headed in the wrong direction. And another recent poll said Bush's approval rating is the lowest ever. Yet how can the candidate who is most like Bush (McCain), who aligns himself with him, etc. be so competitive. You know the poll, "If the election were held today and McCain ran against ---, who would win?" It ought to be a landslide in favor of one of the Democrats, yet the ratings state otherwise.
  18. When I originally saw this thread, I said to myself, "Just keep quiet. I've had, ultimately, failed relationships, so who am I to even try to help somebody else when I couldn't help myself?" Anyway, after reading your update, it shouldn't be that he has to tell you, it should be that he wants to tell you, without your having to pull it out of him. I went through something similar, and I've always believed that honesty is the best quality you can have in someone. The looks, etc etc are all fine and dandy but if you don't have honesty, you've got nothing. I don't want you to be hurt, so make sure that you say what you mean and mean what you say. Don't respond in anger or with hurt. Keep an open mind, but don't be afraid to ask (not accuse) about something. Communicate. Best wishes.

  20. Yes, thank you, gentlemen! I guess the vehicle photos come up in some (random?) rotation, and included a GMC on a road near blurred green grass; a white GMC hybrid in a forest; a Saab on a road near mountains; a blue speedometer; a Chevy Volt; a Malibu; a clay 4-door; a Cadillac CTS wagon??? with a sunroof and, from above, it makes it look like a pointy taillight; and the _______ mystery vehicle. Thanks for identifying it.
  21. I apologize if it's so obvious it will bite me, but what car is this, picture on GM's corporate website? Some sort of Cadillac? click here Interesting how they went to the trouble of highlighting (or making stand out) those interior controls in blue. [ EDIT ] No, wait, a different vehicle comes up everytime you click on the site. The one I'm asking about is a gray-ish two-door, with a sculpted side, a vent in the fender, and seems small.
  22. I think this Buick will be well-received. I'm wondering though, if Buick has already discarded "Drive Beautiful." As someone (Paulie, I think) pointed out, Buick's own website doesn't seem to show "Drive beautiful" anywhere anymore, and uses a headline "Immerse Yourself in the Craft of Modern Luxury," which may or may not be a tagline.
  23. Yes, guys, and please let it be re-named as Invicta.
