  1. Yes, I understood the reference to "Camino" from the get-go; but the shocking news stated in these two stories is the Pontiac may be chopped down to one model, that Pontiac won't get much (if any) product development money, that no Pontiac nameplate is "safe," etc. If that isn't worthy of a headline... Oh, never mind.
  2. The title of this thread "Not good for Camino" should be changed; it isn't about one particular poster here and doesn't reflect the importance and magnitude of Docherty's comments.
  3. Bob Lutz told Jamie LaReau of Automotive News that GM needs fewer brands and more marketing for what's left. (I don't have a subscription to AN, but) Advertising Age's website reproduced the article, which you may read here.
  4. Rick Kranz, Product Editor of Automotive News has written a brief piece titled "Why GM must stay with Buick." To read it, click here.
  5. So reports Yahoo News. Click here
  6. To my eyes, painting the wheels of the Milan white is too much. The exterior white is ok, but leave the wheels chrome.
  7. VenSeattle: You forgot to mention its name: Electra
  8. Bigmikelakers: Thank you for sharing these, and, for me, especially the Buick shots including that beautiful Riviera Concept. Why don't they make an alternative-fuel Riviera - that'd be different.
  9. Paolino: Thank you for letting everyone know about the update. I'm happy to see the fresh look and happy that they care enough to update it and put some sort of effort into it. I do wish that they could have substituted the new Epsilon II LaCrosse for the "old" La Crosse, but the new one sure looks fine in the guise of the Invicta Concept - so I hope that people will click on that in the meantime.
  10. And what, exactly, does GM expect the effect of this announcement (even just the consideration of killing the brands) will be on Saab, Saturn, and Pontiac sales?
  11. I recall reading that your father was ill, and this is the first that I learned of his passing. Please accept my condolences. My father died 15 years ago and I still miss him and curse the day he died.
  12. They're not the same thing, starting with the number of doors. It isn't one versus the other. I would buy a Pontiac G8 over a Chevrolet Camaro without a moment's hesitation. For me, the better question is "Of those people who like Pontiacs, what do you think of the G8?" To my eyes, it's the hottest Pontiac in a l-o-n-g time and very desirable measured by any factors.
  13. Every Pontiac should be sporty, powerful, youthful, and not at all boring or plain. They should be built to give feedback of the road to the driver, with handling a prime consideration. If possible beyond what's done in an average vehicle, the interior should be focused around the driver, much like a cockpit of a plane with all controls in easy reach to the driver and various engine attributes showing (such as engine rpm). Pontiac should focus on the driver and perhaps one passenger, rather than comfortable seating for 5 or hauling a family. Pontiac = maximum performance [ edit ] An additional thought: the exterior design should elicit a response, like "wow!," from a person. It should look fast standing still.
  14. According to MSNBC, the GM plant in Lordstown, OH will remain closed a little longer than the holiday break. To read their report, click here.
  15. And an update from the Detroit News on 11/21, in which Mr. Wagoner says he'll be ready to share a plan with Washington. To read the update, click here.
  16. The Detroit News this afternoon contacted Rick Wagoner after it was announced that automakers must return to Washington by December 2nd with a restructuring plan. To read the story with Wagoner's comments, click here.
  17. Reuters today reported five potential outcomes for Opel. To read the story, click here.
  18. Incorrect comparison, since $21K is NOT the average transaction price for a Lucerne V-8. And the one he bought was a leftover 2007 not a 2009.
  19. But just throwing this out there for conversation. Wouldn't that be a good attention-getter with the government? To say our "game-changing" electric vehicle has to go on hold unless you hurry up and give us money and lots of it.
  20. But it was stated here recently that GM might not even make its payroll soon. Given that, why would anything be unlikely? Or is this a "P.R." move to push the government into acting quicker?
  21. Another major Detroit newspaper, the Free Press, has made a small update regarding tomorrow's announcement. Click here. So, according to them, we can take at least that one possibility of plant closures off the table.
  22. Might they announce that GME will now oversee all future product design or perhaps the day-to-day operation of GMNA? I ask this particularly in light of a comment that was made today in the Buick forum here, after one poster derogatorily complained that car designers in Europe needed to improve their "vanilla" designs and someone responded that, after Friday, "you better get use to vanilla."
  23. Jerry Flint has come up with some ideas which will, in his opinion, help to save General Motors. To read his column from Forbes.com, click here.
  24. The Detroit News revealed today that "GM will announce 'important changes' on Friday. To view the article, click here.
