  1. Carbiz, thats what I was thinking too. It's just NOT BETTER than anything else. So it doesn't deserve the reputation that it has. Plus the cost of ownership issue.
  2. So, I needed to rent a car last min. and almost EVERYBODY in Fresno was sold out. So Hertz had cars (and have earned my future business) but... I ended up with 3 TOYOTA keys that all led me to a graphite gray Camary. It has a 4 banger in it. I CANNOT find a comfortable seating position in it at all. The seat is retarded and the steering wheel when it is pulled all the way out and put in the highest position is still not high enough or far enough out. At night, the whole center stack (including the green plastic surroundings) lights up and is very distracting. I can't ever get the car to go into gear without looking at the stupid jagged shifter. The car has really bad blind spots and the mirrors are no good either. Also, the steering is too sensitive and has caused me to have to over correct a few times on the freeway. The A/C SUCKS! But... It is pretty quiet on the inside and it does get decent gas mileage on the freeway. In the city, the hamster wheel has to spin pretty fast to get me to where I want to go. Uggg... so I joined the Hertz 1st club or something which says I can reserve a certain type of car in the future. I am so jealous of the Impala, Malibu, Grand Prix, LaCrosse, and G6 drivers I see out there.
  3. I'm heading up to the Reno Peppermill to see Randy Daytona preform his vaunted pin-pong extravaganza for the weekend. The Peppermill is half neon 80s and half tuscan villa. What a concept!
  4. darn, I thought somebody brought back the old thread. I sill have a quote in my signature from that thread.
  5. The name for those kind of trucks are usually "Peteabegos" or "Kenabegos" or they are called "Condo Cabs" too.
  6. Smash and grab happened to me. They got my Sirius radio, but I blocked it immediately. Where I live, the crime blotter is N/A most of the time because not much happens around here. But if you do call 911, boy do the police get here quick. The night this all happened however, there were like 45 MPH winds, so I thought the alarm was going off because of the wind. The person also hit other cars in the area too because we heard other car alarms go off that night.
  7. 109 here in Fresno right now. Tied a record from 1925 today. Ugh! :hot: :hot: :hot: :hot:
  8. Those Margaritaville machines are not cheap. They shave the ice into to blender for a perfect texture.
  9. If you read into it, it kind of sounds like you have no heart either. At least thats what a "life member" would be right.
  10. I must add one more negative. The chrome strip along the dash and the chrome logo on the steering wheel REFLECT sun right into the driver's eyes.
  11. Collision Course Inside the Battle for General Motors By Micheline Maynard Rude awakening : the rise, fall, and struggle for recovery of General Motors by Maryann Keller
  12. So I have been traveling for business and Enterprise was kind enough to honor my request for a GM "premium" car with an 08 LaCrosse. I know most people are poo-pooing the 3.8, but inside this car, you can barely hear it at all. Also, when at highway speeds, the car barely goes over 2,000 RPMs which keeps the car rather quiet. Inside the car, there is plenty of head room, the gauges are nice, the wheel with the radio and cruise controls is a nice feature, but there is no AUX/IPOD jack in the radio, which peeved me as I could not hook up my IPOD or Stilletto2 Sirius radio. I loved the seat with the power adjustment/lumbar. My mileage through highway traffic and San Francisco rush hour so far is around 24 MPG and the fuel tank is HUGE for a W body. The new grille is nice, but it does not match the headlights at all. Plus: Quiet, decent fuel economy for size, comfortable. Cons: Old Radio, Ugly headlights
  13. I just got done reading Jim Webb's (Senator VA) book and he hit the nail on the head. Right now, wall street stocks are mostly owned by like 2% of the population and they are only taxed 15% on the money they make. It is time to bump that up to 50% or more because there is NOTHING good that comes out of stocks except for growth of personal wealth. Just think, if you are in the top tax bracket, you can invest massive amounts of money into stock and only have to pay 15% taxes instead of 40% plus.
  14. Diesel is already 5.25 at chevron stations in california
  15. I'm not much for a stick (after having to drive a truck for a few hundred thousand miles with one) but I TOTALLY WAS THINKING THE SAME THING HERE.... SHENANIGANS!!!!
  16. To reply to XP, in California, the Highway Patrol is stationed at the beginning of all major construction projects on freeways and major highways to protect CalTrans workers.
  17. Disneyland, it's even better now that ESPNZone is right next to it with beer and drinks. I would like to go to Hawaii I think because I have been almost everywhere in the Cont. US of importance (except maybe Boston).
  18. I love the fan-blade wheels
  19. Oh look!!!!! It can hold your cassette tapes for you!!!! Sorry, I had to point that out.
  20. All the controls being all jumbled up isn't the problem..... it's the international symbols that they use to replace the words on how the darn things work.
  21. This quote needs to live on forever, hence it is going in the signature.
  22. Kind of car related...
