  1. I can't wait for the California Highway Patrol to get some of these.
  2. The Malibu had the 2.4 and i don't know what transmission it had. The car had enough power for me. I'm not a hot-rodder. I got on the freeway well, passed well, and the car was really quiet. I have driven a Saturn Aura and an Impala with the 3.5 in it. Both had plenty of power. I don't remember either one having any sounds or noises that were unpleasant. Although I do have to say the Buick logo on the steering wheel can give off a glare that can be very annoying.
  3. I have driven all 3. Even though the Buick is on a "Cadillac chassis", the Malibu is very solid and the fuel economy is going to be a nice added benefit. Just steer away from gray. The gray interior sucks.
  4. WOW! You never cease to amaze!
  5. The Fiesta came thru with flying colors.
  6. The last people to visit there were porno spamers yesterday.

  8. New Report: Industry experts weigh in SAN FRANCISCO, Oct. 1 /PRNewswire/ -- In advance of California's upcoming zero emission vehicle (ZEV) policy review and update, an influential group of venture capitalists, vehicle entrepreneurs, policy makers, and industry experts gathered from across the nation to assess technological, market, and policy barriers to the development of zero or near zero emission vehicles. "Driving Transportation Innovation," a new report released today by Next 10, the nonpartisan, nonprofit organization that convened the group, presents an overview of the discussion and concludes that strategic sustained policymaking is required to trigger the technology and market transformations necessary to achieve near zero emission transportation. "We are at a pivotal moment of extraordinary challenge and opportunity. The recent initial public offering from A123 Systems, a leading supplier of high-power lithium ion batteries, is a clear indicator that near-zero emission transportation technology is on the way to becoming profitable for investors, " said F. Noel Perry, founder of Next 10, "But while there are exciting developments in clean vehicle technology, barriers remain to the full throttle race we need. The policies we have identified will help remove those hurdles, ignite the market and spur economic growth and new jobs." "Companies, investors and consumers need long term market signals. Policy decisions made now will determine whether they get the right signal," said Tim Woodward, Nth Power, who attended the meeting. "This report identifies critical effective complementary policies aimed to trigger the progress needed to achieve low to no carbon vehicle technology." Continuing business as usual, the number of motor vehicles on the road will double from 1.5 billion today to 3 billion by 2030, doubling emissions, and dramatically increasing worldwide dependence on OPEC and a small number of government controlled oil reserves. Experts gathered agree that key hurdles must be overcome in order to harness this market and drive the kind of technological progress necessary to move away from fossil fuel based transportation. Critical barriers identified by the group include: * A century of U.S. policies that in concert have effectively wed Americans (and growing ranks of other countries) to internal combustion engine vehicles fueled almost entirely by fossil fuels. Among them, incentive and subsidies that have kept oil and gasoline prices low. * Lack of market certainty created by artificially low gasoline prices. * Vehicle cost and resulting consumer demand. * Lack of sustained political leadership. Together these barriers have stunted the huge research, development and deployment investment needed to overcome technological and infrastructure barriers to near zero emission technology, according to the report. The "multifaceted policy toolbox" outlined in the report includes: * Clear predictable long-term performance standards including low carbon fuel, greenhouse gas emission, and fuel cycle ZEV mandates that consider fuel cycle emission allowances, miles driven, recyclability, and other elements. * Balanced economic policies including Near Zero Emission Technology (NZET) production incentives, clean car discounts, and fuel price floor. * RD&D, government procurement, and technology transfer including electricity infrastructure and technology development projects and government procurement of near zero emission vehicles. * Information, education, and outreach including hand held, real time, information devices to inform driver choices. * Legal systems including electric utility reforms to facilitate NZET and low carbon land use planning and zoning. "There is no question that, with the right cost-effective transportation solutions, we can achieve far greater reductions in oil use and emissions than assumed," said John E. Waters, CEO of Bright Automotive, who also attended the meeting. "But the time is urgent and the successful implementation of effective business-based complementary policies is crucial." The full report is available at: http://www.next10.org/next10/publications/zeroemission.html Media interviews with the author of the report and other experts may be arranged by contacting Cater Communications at (415) 453-0430 or [email protected]. In September, Ford sales were 6 percent lower than a year ago. This followed a 2 percent increase in July and a 17 percent increase in August, marking the first time in four years that Ford is reporting a quarterly sales increase. Ford estimates it gained over 2 points of market share versus last year in September and the third quarter. September marked the 11th time in the last 12 months Ford has gained retail market share. "Our balanced new lineup of high-quality, fuel-efficient products helped us navigate through an exceptional period in industry sales," said Ken Czubay, Ford vice president, U.S. Marketing, Sales and Service. "With its volatile sales peaks and valleys and dramatic segment shifts, the third quarter was a great test of our One Ford Plan - building a range of vehicles from small cars to hard-working trucks." Ford's third quarter market share gains were paced by the Ford Focus small car, Ford Fusion mid-size car, Ford Escape small utility and Ford F-Series trucks. Internal and external studies continue to show a positive trend in favorable consumer opinion about Ford, and a growing number of consumers are considering the purchase of a Ford vehicle. Third Quarter Sales Highlights * Ford, Lincoln and Mercury sales totaled 445,100, up 5 percent versus a year ago. Retail sales were up 7 percent, and fleet sales were down 1 percent. * Ford Focus sales totaled 56,559, up 35 percent versus a year ago. The Focus is among the most fuel-efficient compact cars in America with an EPA highway rating of 35 mpg. * Ford Fusion sales totaled 49,454, up 67 percent versus a year ago. Mercury Milan sales were 8,352, up 57 percent. The Fusion and Milan and their hybrid versions are the most fuel-efficient mid-size sedans in America. * Ford Escape sales totaled 49,866, up 48 percent versus a year ago. Mercury Mariner sales were 8,938, up 33 percent. The Escape Hybrid and Mariner Hybrid are the most fuel-efficient utility vehicles in America. * Ford Flex sales totaled 9,815, up 59 percent versus a year ago. The Flex is among the most fuel-efficient full-size crossover utilities in America. * Ford's hybrid vehicles - Fusion, Milan, Escape and Mariner - posted combined sales of 12,186, up 239 percent versus a year ago. At 41 miles per gallon, the Fusion Hybrid is the most fuel-efficient mid-size sedan in America - 8 mpg better than the Toyota Camry Hybrid. September Sales Highlights * In September, Ford, Lincoln and Mercury sales totaled 109,939, down 6 percent versus a year ago. Retail sales were down 14 percent, and fleet sales were up 23 percent. * The all-new Taurus bucked an industry trend as September sales (5,077 vehicles) were 60 percent higher than a year ago and 49 percent higher than August. The Taurus debuted to rave reviews from the automotive press, and early customer demand validates the critical acclaim. Customers especially value the new technologies incorporated in America's most innovative full-size sedan - 95 percent of incoming Taurus orders are equipped with advanced technologies and features. * Ford's F-Series truck, America's best-selling vehicle, posted its second consecutive sales increase in September (up 4 percent). The new F-150 was introduced last fall and was named the North American Truck of the Year, Motor Trend's "Truck of the Year" and the "Truck of Texas" by the Texas Auto Writers' Association. In 2009, F-Series has gained more than 3 points of market share in the full-size truck segment. The all-new Ford-150 Raptor extreme performance truck debuted in August and this model is flying off dealer lots in an average of nine days. More new Ford trucks are on the way. In September, Ford unveiled the next-generation Super Duty F-Series at the State Fair of Texas, promising more capability, improved fuel economy and a Ford-designed, engineered and built 6.7-liter diesel engine. * Ford's new EcoBoost engine technology is winning customers, too. EcoBoost provides customers with the fuel economy of a V-6 engine and the performance of a V-8 engine (up to 20 percent improvement in fuel economy and 15 percent reduction in emissions). EcoBoost is standard on the Taurus SHO and available on the Ford Flex, Lincoln MKS and Lincoln MKT, a new full-size luxury crossover. September EcoBoost sales nearly tripled August sales, and order rates for EcoBoost continue to exceed planned rates. Note: The sales data included in this release and the accompanying tables are based largely on data reported by dealers representing their sales to retail and fleet customers. 10. AUBURN HILLS, Mich., Oct. 1 /PRNewswire/ -- * Chrysler Group increases market share compared with August 2009 * Jeep® Wrangler sales up 7 percent compared with August 2009, continues to lead the segment in sales * Jeep Grand Cherokee sales increase 23 percent versus September 2008 * Dodge Challenger sales increase 57 percent versus August 2009 * Dodge Charger sales up 16 percent compared with the August 2009 The Jeep® Wrangler continued its strong sales trend in September with 6,002 units sold, a 7 percent increase compared with August 2009. Wrangler continues to be tops in market share in the compact sport-utility vehicle (SUV) segment. In addition to Jeep Wrangler's strong showing in September, Jeep Grand Cherokee sales (5,601 units) increased 23 percent compared with the same time period in 2008. Dodge Challenger sales (1,778 units) increased 57 percent compared with August 2009, and the Dodge Charger saw increased sales (7,507 units) of 16 percent compared with August 2009. Mopar U.S. net sales were even compared with August 2009, balancing tough market conditions with the launch of several campaigns that were successfully implemented through the full commitment of the dealer network. Digital owners' manuals were announced for all 2010 model-year vehicles, a move that will save 930 tons of paper or 20,000 trees annually. Buyers of 2010 Chrysler, Jeep and Dodge vehicles will receive a digitized owner's manual on a DVD and a full-color guide, eliminating the bulky paper version. Separately, at the Frankfurt Motor Show last month, Mopar showcased a "Moparized" Jeep Wrangler Unlimited and a Jeep Liberty. Chrysler Group LLC reported total U.S. sales of 62,197 units, a decrease of 42 percent compared with September 2008. The company finished the month with 138,456 units in inventory, representing a 56-day supply. Inventory is down 64 percent versus September 2008 when it totaled 381,365 units. Overall industry sales figures for September are projected to come in at an estimated 9.4 million SAAR. "While we had some bright spots in September, it was still a challenging sales environment for the industry," said Peter Fong, President and Chief Executive Officer-Chrysler Brand and Lead Executive for the Sales Organization, Chrysler Group LLC. "Low inventories of popular models at the start of the month hampered Chrysler, Jeep and Dodge sales, however, the company responded with increased production. The company finished the month with increased market share compared with August 2009. "We believe the remainder of 2009 will continue to be a challenge for the U.S. automotive market. Credit markets have thawed slightly, but still remain tight, and consumer confidence, as we saw in September, is tenuous," Fong added. Incentives In October, Chrysler, Jeep and Dodge dealers continue to offer competitive lease rates on all 2010 model year vehicles. "Consumers are responding to Chrysler Group's return to leasing, appreciating the flexibility this financing option gives them," said Steven Beahm, Vice President-Sales Organization, Chrysler Group LLC. 14. 10/01/2009 - TORRANCE, Calif. - American Honda Motor Co., Inc., posted total September vehicle sales of 77,229, a decline of 23.3 percent compared to September 2008, based on the daily selling rate*. Honda Division posted September sales of 69,970, a decline of 22.5 percent versus September 2008. Honda total car sales decreased by 20.4 percent, to 41,982. Honda light-truck sales decreased 25.4 percent, to 27,988. Pilot sales increased 0.5 percent, to 5,438. The Acura Division posted sales of 7,259, a decline of 30.3 percent compared to September 2008. The MDX was the brand's best-selling vehicle with 2,220 units sold. *The daily selling rate is calculated with 25 days for September 2009 and 24 days for September 2008. The year-to-date daily selling rate is calculated with 229 days for 2009 and 230 days for 2008. All percentages reflect the daily selling rate. Fit sales dropped dramatically compared to last year, a whole 51.6%. It looks like post-clunkers sales have dropped back to the expected levels. With inventories depleted, many people are probably waiting for the 2010s to arrive so they can get what they want. According to truecar.com, current prices are also very high for any remaining 09s, most likely due to low inventory. Prices probably won't go down until late Nov. or Dec. when dealerships are full of cars again, but with the recession being unofficially over, don't expect to get the good deals from earlier this year. __________________

  17. BMW Group U.S. Division Reports September 2009 Sales WOODCLIFF LAKE, N.J., Oct. 1 /PRNewswire/ -- For the first time this year, the BMW Group in the U.S. (BMW and MINI combined) reported an increase in sales compared to the same month last year. In September, sales increased by 3.6 percent to 19,175 units compared to 18,506 vehicles sold in September 2008. The BMW Group also reported a year-to-date sales volume of 179,219 vehicles, down 24.2 percent, compared to 236,327 vehicles sold in the first nine months of last year. BMW Brand Sales Sales of BMW brand vehicles increased 2.1 percent in September for a total of 15,047 vehicles compared to 14,744 vehicles reported in the same month a year ago driven by strong passenger car sales. BMW's sports activity vehicles saw a decline compared to last year in part due to limited inventory of the X5 after the better than expected Advanced Diesel X5 model sales volume. Year-to-date, BMW brand sales were down 26.3 percent to 144,223 vehicles compared to 195,633 vehicles sold in the same period of 2008. "For now, we'll take this first small bit of good news but the premium segment is not out of the woods yet as consumers keep on reacting cautiously to the mixed signals in the economy," said Jim O'Donnell, President of BMW of North America, LLC. "For BMW, we expect the bumpy road to continue into next quarter in advance of 2010, when we see consumer confidence improving and a major launch of new BMW products start to hit the market." BMW Certified Pre-Owned (CPO) In September, dealers continued to see good interest in pre-owned vehicles. Sales of BMW's Certified Pre-Owned vehicles increased 4.2 percent, to 8,033 CPO vehicles versus 7,707 vehicles reported in September a year ago. Year-to-date, CPO sales were up 9.6 percent, to 84,515 over the 77,144 reported in the same period of 2008. MINI Brand Sales MINI USA reported sales of 4,128 automobiles an increase of 9.7% compared to 3,762 cars reported in the same month a year ago. Year-to-date, MINI USA also reported sales of 34,996 automobiles, a decrease of 14 percent, compared to the 40,694 cars reported in the first nine months of 2008. "September was another unique 'out of wack' month as many dealers reported fewer shoppers and tire-kickers after the end of the 'Cash for Clunkers' program," said Jim McDowell, Vice President MINI USA. "MINI has been fortunate to counter this climate with higher sales compared to last September and serious buyers helping the brand to continuously increase its market share." 19. Not a bad idea
  20. wow I guess penske won't be running saturns in his NASCAR program.
  21. So, some of us are going to believe something GMI posts, yet when C&G posts about the Z28 members start to say "I haven't heard confirmation"? So, with that being said, I won't believe it till I hear confirmation.
  22. Winter Checklist? N/A
  23. I'm going to have to agree that the Chevrolet website is difficult to navigate. They have everything so divided there. It takes forever just to find photos of the interior of their cars/trucks.
  24. Nice to hear from you!
