I see the trunk open on the CTS wagon, did all your stuff fit in the Camaro trunk? -
Good selection. Glad to see all the encouragement here didn't fall on deaf ears.

GM may reopen some factories to meet higher demand
Justin Bimmer replied to Justin Bimmer's topic in General Motors
It all depends on how good sales are and which cars are selling. Those are going to be the determining factors on which factories, if any, are reopened. -
GM may reopen some factories to meet higher demand By TOM KRISHER, AP Auto Writer Tom Krisher, Ap Auto Writer – 1 hr 5 mins ago DETROIT – General Motors Co. may reopen some shuttered factories because it can't produce certain vehicles fast enough, its North American president said Monday. Mark Reuss told reporters at the North American International Auto Show in Detroit that plants building the Chevrolet Equinox, GMC Terrain and Cadillac SRX crossover vehicles and the Buick LaCrosse sedan are at capacity and can't satisfy demand. Reuss mentioned an idled factory in Spring Hill, Tenn., but stopped short of saying any plants would be reopened. He said if he does his job right and restores faith in the GM brands, the company could hire workers again. In the short term, he said the company will try to raise output at existing plants. The Terrain and Equinox are made at a factory in Ingersoll, Ontario, while the LaCrosse is built in Kansas City, Kan. The SRX is made in Ramos Arizpe, Mexico. Reuss said he will meet with GM's manufacturing and sales executives next week to see if they can figure out how to squeeze more vehicles out of the existing plants for the short term. For the long term, he said he doesn't like GM to have factories idled. The company has closed 14 factories in the past year as it struggled through bankruptcy protection, and it has placed the idled Spring Hill and Janesville, Wis., plants on standby in case they are needed. "We've got some plants that I'd like to allocate product to," Reuss said, adding that Spring Hill was a very good factory that is versatile enough to build several models. Reuss also said GM has finished tweaking the Chevrolet Cruze compact car and is ready to begin producing it at the factory in Lordstown, Ohio. Last month he said the production schedule had been stopped while engineers worked out transmission shifting and other driving dynamics issues with the car. The Cruze, due out later this year, is a key product for GM as it tries to re-enter the growing small car market with a more competitive product.

Satty & Whiteknight, remember no excessive flaming about the same thing. Your last couple of posts are pointing down a road of no good.

Eventually you will find a car. But. . . Admit your C&G vacation lasted longer than the car did

Premium Access Now Available
Justin Bimmer replied to Drew Dowdell's topic in Site News and Feedback
Standard plan: Free * Number of seconds between searches has changed from 10 seconds to 30 seconds. * Edit time restriction (in minutes) has changed from unlimited to 15 minutes. The reason for this is these are two areas that directly effect server performance. Premium plan: $12/annually * Everything currently available to a standard member: * Number of seconds between searches has changed from 30 seconds to 10 seconds. * Edit time restriction (in minutes) would change from 15 minutes to unlimited. * 500 message limit in PM system. * Ability to embed HTML in the posts of select forums. (this will allow direct embedding of youtube videos) * Access to the "Rated R" forum. * Access to the "C&G Council" where Admins will take up issues for a vote that a larger number of C&Gers should have a say in. * Ability to request free upgrade to the "Politics and Social issues" forum. * An @Cheersandgears.com email address by request. * A C&G supporter icon next to their name on every post. (Future rollout date) I believe you also get to change your screen name 1 time a month too if you choose. There may be other benefits too. -
GMC Terrain: No bark, no bite, but plenty of fleas
Justin Bimmer replied to Croc's topic in GMC Trucks
Another thing too, when it comes time to sell the GMC Terrain used, chances are it will have a higher resale compared to a Nox. -
Looks nice, but I have to ask. . . will it run for more days than your C&G vacation?

GM Builds First Lithium-ion Battery for Chevrolet Volt o GM is the first major automaker to manufacture an advanced lithium-ion battery pack in the U.S. o Brownstown Township to be first high-volume U.S. automotive lithium-ion battery manufacturing site o Plant’s battery cell processing, module and pack manufacturing capabilities strengthen GM’s in-house battery expertise BROWNSTOWN TOWNSHIP, Mich. – Exactly three years since the day the Chevrolet Volt concept car debuted, GM today manufactured the first advanced lithium-ion battery for a mass-marketed electric vehicle at GM's Brownstown Battery Pack Assembly Plant. “This is an important milestone for GM – and a critical step in bringing the Chevrolet Volt to market,” said GM Chairman and CEO Ed Whitacre. GM announced last August a $43-million investment to prepare the 160,000-square-foot, landfill-free facility for production of lithium-ion battery packs for the Volt and other electric vehicles with extended-range capabilities. The plant is part of a wholly-owned subsidiary of General Motors called GM Subsystems Manufacturing LLC. In just five months, the Brownstown plant was converted from an empty facility to a production-ready battery manufacturing site. New machinery and specialized equipment have been installed and three primary assembly areas have been completed: battery module pre-assembly, final assembly and the battery pack main line. The Volt’s battery pack is made up of multiple linked battery modules and more than 200 battery cells. The initial assembly area is where the prismatic-shaped cells are processed and installed by state-of-the-art flexible automated equipment into modules, which are then delivered to the battery pack main line. The battery pack main line area features an Automated Guided Cart (ACG) system that includes operations for thermal and electrical assembly, along with quality and dimensional checks. The main line is also where battery pack final testing, verification and packaging for shipment take place. Initial battery production at Brownstown will be used to validate the plant’s equipment and processes, and batteries will be sent to GM’s Global Battery Systems lab in Warren, Mich., for testing. This spring, GM will begin shipping batteries to GM’s Detroit-Hamtramck plant, the assembly location for the Volt, for use in production validation vehicles. http://media.gm.com/content/media/us/en/news/news_detail.brand_gm.html/content/Pages/news/us/en/2009/Dec/1207_GM_DHam Regular production at Brownstown and Detroit-Hamtramck is set to begin in the fourth quarter. GM is investing $700 million in eight Michigan facilities for Volt-related production, including $336 million in the Detroit-Hamtramck plant, which will benefit from battery research conducted at the battery lab in Warren; receive batteries from Brownstown; use tooling from Grand Blanc; take delivery of camshafts and connecting rods from Bay City; and dies, stampings and the Volt’s 1.4L engine-generator from three plants in Flint. “The development of electric vehicles like the Chevy Volt is creating entire new sectors in the auto industry – an ‘ecosystem’ of battery developers and recyclers, builders of home and commercial charging stations, electric motor suppliers and much more,” Whitacre said. “These companies and universities are creating new jobs in Michigan and across the U.S. – green jobs – and they’re doing it by developing new technology, establishing new manufacturing capability, and strengthening America's long-term competitiveness.” In August, the U.S. Dept. of Energy selected 45 companies, universities and organizations, including GM, in 28 states for more than $2 billion in awards for electric drive and battery manufacturing and transportation electrification. Nearly half of that total is designated for cell, battery and materials manufacturing facilities in Michigan. The Volt is an electric vehicle with extended-range capability. It is designed to drive up to 40 miles on electricity without using gasoline or producing tailpipe emissions. When the Volt’s lithium-ion battery is depleted of energy, a flex-fuel engine-generator seamlessly operates to extend the total driving range to about 300 miles before refueling or stopping to recharge the battery. Pricing has not been announced. About General Motors: General Motors, one of the world’s largest automakers, traces its roots back to 1908.
