You do not sadly.. The one I have is even rarer. They made more Trofeos than they did Toronados at the end. The bench seat I have was in an option group called ISB. The thing is they sold more Rivieras and Eldorados towards the end of Toronados life. The Aurora came on the scene. On the other forums where I am an Admin (Oldsmobile Forums), there are a bunch of others who have Toronados. They are trying to fix theirs up too. There are some in good shape too. Oldsmobile had a winner with this car. I think the last generation was trying to get back to the roots of the 1966 model. That Ninety Eight saved my life too. The one I had that was green was good to me when it came to my life. What was yours like that saved your mom's life? I checked into that engine thing. The pcm, ecm, and bcm have to match up for on thing. The would have to be changes to the wiring harnesses too. There also is the issue if something were to go wrong, the check engine light may not read it or catch it. I really wanted to do it, but I checked intro even using the same 3800 that is in my Ninety Eight.. same issues. sigh..... Thank you for your comments and asking..

Chrysler admits Sebring, Nitro are duds
NINETY EIGHT REGENCY replied to Flybrian's topic in Chrysler
One thing I noticed lately is Ford and Chrysler are not sitting there blaming Toyota and Honda. They are admitting the design mistakes and trying to fix them. It is refreshing to see. GM still has not admitted to what it did in the past. I thought I was the only one who thought Sebring looked awkward. I have seen Nitros. I did not know it was a failure. I guess the American car companies are realizing it is not just the quality that has to change. It is perception, and good design and some heritage thrown in that will make changes. The first step to changing a behavior is to admit your mistakes The second step is the change the behavior. The culture inside Chrysler has to change. They must become over comers and achievers. Something I noticed the other day when the initial quality survey came out, and seeing how poorly GM did, people were making excuses for it. That is how they have operated inside GM , Ford and Chrysler for years. There are no excuses.. GM needs to work on the initial quality in their cars period. This is a society we live in now, it becomes excuse after to excuse or being politically correct. Own up to what you did, change the behavior. What happened to GM, Ford and Chrysler is they thought this is America our turf. We are entitled and they will buy whatever we sell them. Oh really? The game changed. Toyota and Honda showed buyers you can have better. Someone tapped the domestics on the shoulder and told them wake up. they ignored. It took losing so much for them to wake up. The goal is to show they can change and win buyers back. -
Totally agreed.... I do not care for the colours, but he is right. Why should someone benefit from your work.

Ciera was GT until 1989-1990 when it became International Series. -
I own a Toronado, and I can tell you several things: 1. They made more Trofeos than they did regular Toronados. 2. That VIC was not standard on Trofeo 3. That car is in great shape. 4. That has the 3.8 liter V6 rated at 165 hp. It is OBD I. Because I know how hard Toronados are to come by, I strongly suggest considering the purchase. It was harder for me to find mine because of the options mine has. They were quite rare. To find one in that shape and more is rare. Check the brake lines and fuel lines.... Check the struts in the rear too. The steering wheel controls came in 1991. The only thing that has a high failure rate is that instrumentation panel. You see them on Ebay all the time. There are a lot of people who repair them. I know because my first Toronado had that cluster. It was not supposed to have it. It did not work. I switched it out for the digital. The digital is what my 1992 came with. They used that same digital cluster since 1986. All the Trofeos had that analog cluster too. That interior is graphite and it is not black. That is the same colored interior as my car. Go here to see mine to see the same colors and more.. http://www.cheersandgears.com/forums/index...showtopic=17650

I did it. When my 1994 Oldsmobile Ninety Eight was totaled, I bought a 1995 that was in better condition. It had slightly higher mileage. When I bought second car, my first Toronado, it was a 1991. I bought a 1992 Toronado that I have now. It was only 3,000 miles higher than the one I had before. I went up in years. This is nothing new. It shows your satisfaction with your car.

I remember that car. The car magazines drove it back then. It was so interesting how Celebrity VR and Eurosport were so different from 6000 STE and Ciera GT and Century T- Type. If GM had updated those cars and changed them with the times, These would be the Accords and Camry's today. It was the right formula and package. It is funny how the W- Bodies squeezed in and took their place and then how the W Bodies put the squeeze on the H Bodies. Now the W Bodies are still here. All the other ones gone. Now the W Bodies are about to become Epsilon 2. If anyone notice, the Celebrity and Century shared the same quarter window. The 6000 and Ciera shared the same one too. The thing is you knew they were all from the same family of cars, but they did not look like each other. My favorites were Ciera and the 6000 STE. That 6000 STE was so close to the Bonneville SSE in 1988 and 1989 in terms of features and options. That was the last time you saw a Pontiac with digital gauges outside the new for 1988 Grand Prix. No one noticed but the 6000 and Celebrity never offered the 3.8 liter V6, but Oldsmobile and Buick did. -
Honda to Discontinue Hybrid Accord Sedan By BREE FOWLER 06.05.07, 6:25 PM ET With gas prices reaching record high levels and increasing public interest in environmentally friendly technologies, you would think that any car labeled as a hybrid would sell easily. But Honda Motor Co. (nyse: HMC - news - people ) on Tuesday announced that it will discontinue the hybrid version of its Accord sedan, citing disappointing sales. Analysts said that despite the Accord's superior performance compared with some of its higher-volume competitors, it just doesn't fit with the current consumer demands for the smallest, cheapest hybrids with eye-popping fuel economy. Brian Chee, an analyst with the vehicle research firm Autobytel.com, said the Accord's relatively low fuel economy and high price tag compared with other hybrid vehicles made it a tough sell. "It was a pretty perky performance car that it was fun to drive, but it was expensive and it was not exactly what people were looking for as far as a hybrid," Chee said. "It was a clean-burning performance vehicle, but people wanted a hybrid with fuel economy." The hybrid Accord gets an estimated 28 miles to the gallon in the city and starts at about $31,090, while the hybrid version of the company's smaller Civic sedan gets about 49 miles per gallon and starts at about $22,600, according to Honda's Web site. By comparison, Toyota (nyse: TM - news - people )'s market-leading Prius model gets an estimated 60 miles per gallon and carries a $22,175 price tag, and the Toyota Camry hybrid gets about 40 miles per gallon and has a $26,000 sticker price. "The Accord gets good mileage and that's just it. Hybrids have to get great gas mileage in order to sell," Chee said. Honda, Japan's No. 2 automaker, said it will keep making the hybrid version of the Civic but stop offering the hybrid Accord after the new model expected to go on sale later this year. In the years since its debut in 2004, Honda sold a total of 25,000 hybrid Accords, and just 6,100 last year. In comparison, it has sold more than 153,000 of the Civic hybrids since they went on sale in 2001 in Japan, Europe and North America. Meanwhile, demand for Toyota Motor Corp.'s market-leading Prius hybrid has taken off, with 729,800 units sold since December 1997. The company also has sold 53,681 of the Camry hybrids since they hit the market in May 2006. Bill Kwong, a spokesman for Toyota, said that while the Camry sedan has not produced the same sales volumes as the Prius, Toyota officials are happy with its sales performance and have no plans to take it off the market. Kwong said the Camry has had more sales success than the Accord because of its lower sticker price and more fuel efficient 4-cylindar engine, compared with the Accord's more powerful, but less efficient, six-cylinder engine. Brett Smith, senior industry analyst at the Center for Automotive Research in Ann Arbor, Mich., agreed that the Accord's price and fuel economy hurt its sales, but added that it also remains unclear exactly how much demand there is for hybrid vehicles overall. "Certainly there are those who are interested in hybrids and think fuel efficiency is good thing, but it comes down to willingness to pay for it," Smith said. Smith said that as a hybrid vehicle's premium over its traditional gas model increases, the number of people willing to pay that premium decreases. Chee said General Motors Corp. (nyse: GM - news - people )'s "aggressive" entrance into the hybrid market also could shake things up. GM said Tuesday it would introduce four new hybrid models this year. The four new hybrids are the two-mode gas-electric systems in the Chevrolet Tahoe and GMC Yukon large sport utility vehicles, and hybrid systems for the Saturn Aura and new Chevrolet Malibu sedans. Smith said GM is billing the SUVs as no compromise vehicles that will provide the power and performance SUV drivers have come to expect, but it's too early to tell if they'll catch on with consumers. As with other hybrids, sales of the SUV models will depend on the automaker finding the right mix of power and fuel economy to attract buyers, he said. Chee said he thinks there's a market for the larger hybrids, even if the fuel savings is minimal. "A lot of people buy large vehicles because they need to tow and they need to haul people as well," Chee said. "I think anybody who owns a large vehicle is going to appreciate any fuel savings and they're going to be willing to pay for that."

You have sort of nailed on the head ocnblu. There is part of the problem in the community. It is about acceptance and being accepted. He stands out because he feels he matters. He has to do what he can so he does not become repressed and depressed. He is comfortable with who he is. How many in the community can say that. He does not blend in. I am sure he experiences hate from those in the community too. I am an outsider too. I do not fit into anyone category. I have been ridiculed too. But it never stopped me from being an individual. That guy still has something to go through too. I just hope he makes it out okay.. They can be cruel in the community. My fear for him is moving to a large city and going buck wild and getting used and abused. I have seen it happen all too often to the younger gay community.

Add to it: Grand Am Avalon Bonneville and that big "22" badge too.

Finally! A Victory!...Sort of...
NINETY EIGHT REGENCY replied to A Horse With No Name's topic in The Lounge
This is so true.. This is what is starting to happen. I like the fact in this thread the people had open minds. They did not just reject what was said, they acted on it. As I said elsewhere the domestic car companies are like people in a way. When you have done something wrong, you want someone to give you a second chance and give your forgiveness. It will be the product and word of mouth that brings forgiveness... -
The place where I used to take my cars to be serviced, I would not recommend at all. It is David Taylor Cadillac, Buick, Pontiac, GMC. It used to be Oldsmobile. They were awesome when I had my first Ninety Eight. Things changed when I got my second Ninety Eight. They would on purpose do things to my car so I would have to bring it back to be repaired making money off me. Once I caught on to what they were doing, I stopped going there. I later realized too they were trying to get me to trade my car in on a Buick or a Pontiac and then they were going to turn around and sell my Ninety Eight at a profit. There was nothing wrong with it. I then had a student who worked at a dealership bring me the rankings for dealers, and I was not shocked at what I found. I go to a personal mechanic now. The place I bought the first Ninety Eight from only sells Nissans now. He used to sell Oldsmobiles and Nissans. They were nice people. That was Baker -Jackson .

Since I am replacing the engine in the Toronado, and I have not been driving it, I disconnected the battery. I connected it just to take the photos. Once I get the new engine, and other things and I will be driving it again. The head gaskets are blown and there are some other issues with the engine. I am saving for a new engine. Once that is done, I am getting new tires, new exhaust system from to back and a new paint job that is a different color. Thank you for your compliments.
