R.I.P., RS8 - Audi Supercar Prototype Burns Up On Nürburgring
sciguy_0504 replied to Oracle of Delphi's topic in Volkswagen
Forgive me if I chuckle. The pictures are kind of funny. -
If it looks anything like the chop that is somewhere on this forum then I'll stay far away from the new Tiburon. Edit: spelling.

Maybe you should send an e-mail to the Buick general manager noting your opinion? I think that would be a great slogan, too, especially since Buick is expanding rather quickly internationally.

Midsize, large sedan sales comparo for April
sciguy_0504 replied to mustang84's topic in 2007 Sales Archive
I've been seeing a growing number of Auras. There was nothing and then all of a sudden a number showed up on the roads. It does look better in person than in photos. -
How refreshing to see people come up with even more ways to control my life. I thought only the enviros wanted to control the vehicle parked in my driveway. It's quite easy to look at Japan, Inc. and blame them for an artificially low yen (please provide proof) or "free" taxpayer-paid healthcare. It's easy to blast Washington for refusing to provide funds to dig out GM and Ford. It's seems hard to criticize the home team. Why don't GM and Ford explain to the public about the alleged protectionist policies by Japan? I am not talking about closed door meetings with politicians rather a concerted effort to alert the consumer to the problem. GM and Ford do have such power. After all, isn't Toyota worried about a backlash? How about having balls and telling the unions 'no' when it comes to outrageous pay and benefits packages? Pensions are long gone, you are responsible for your own retirement. If the courts can force airline unions to dump their pensions, they can force the UAW to do the same. Much more is at stake. If you want a drug (like Viagra) and do not need a drug (like a heart disease medication) you pay for it. Forget the long bathroom breaks and stupid union work rules (like if a chair has to be moved a certain person has to move it). If the unions actually had some brain cells they would see they are a large reason for pushing auto makers into the arms of other countries. Produce products that the public actually wants to buy. Luckily, GM has finally figured this out in the past couple of years. One only has to look at some current and most future products to see the proof. It seemed GM had been riding on autopilot for the past few decades. China and India won't remain cheap and relatively peaceful socially forever. They may represent great investments now but what about 20 years from now? What happens when the extra-large Chinese lower class becomes tired of its status? What happens when the Chinese people want another form of government? They can be held off for only so long. At the end of the day, however, GM will still be an American company, won't it? I mean, all of the money made from foreign sales will come back home. It's a shame sarcasm is hard to detect online.

Bucks County, PA: Typical suburban but the area I live in is "old" suburban, not your typical cookie-cutter McMansions. They're about 15 minutes away. The homes in the immediate area (and the home I live in) were used to house workers and executives for U.S. Steel. They were built in the 50's, I believe. I live about 2 minutes away from the PA Levittown. Philadelphia is about a 30-45 minute drive south (it depends whether or not you actually drive 95MPH on I-95) and Trenton, NJ is about 10-15 minutes north. Overall, a nice area. Quiet but with enough things to keep you busy. Low crime rate, good schools, nice neighbors. Traffic can be a pain but it's the suburbs.

The first week I had my xB I was fooling around with some friends and nothing seemed to happen (besides a nasty smell...I'm guessing the oil/lubricants burning off the engine).

Everything a Buick crossover should be. Thanks for posting.

You ready for a V8-powered, RWD coupe from Hyundai?
sciguy_0504 replied to BrewSwillis's topic in Hyundai
That's what I first thought of. I'll pass. Edit: It seems a lot of people will take my place in line. The ripped-off Aston Martin grille, G6 side profile and greenhouse, Lancer-esque headlights all add up to one nasty car. The front and back, from what we see if it, don't even flow together, especially with those front wheel arches. And if the Koreans crush Toyota & Co they'll be aiming right for GM & Co. -
I thought I was crazy about interiors but I guess not. The Magnum my family had as a rental over the summer in FL was mid-level and everyone loved it. The interior was fine for the price/equipment/car class. Performance was more than adequate with the 4-speed auto (I believe...it may have been a 5-speed) and 250HP engine. The German tourists we passed in the parking lot as we were walking into a store couldn't get enough of it. Unfortunately, I couldn't understand what they were saying. In fact, we liked it so much when my dad's Alitma lease is up by August (no sure of the exact date) the Magnum will be priced at the local dealer. I think it's a great all-around car.

OMG! Toyota sales down! YEAH!

If you don't mind me asking, what do you do for work? I'd love to travel (preferably international) on business after I graduate but I'd rather not become a members of the cabin crew. Do you mean Trenton, NJ? If so, it's not really blah. There's a lot of, um, action on the streets.

The worst hotel I've stayed in was the Howard Johnson in Williamsburg, Virginia. My parents tried to be nice and book a sort-of all-inclusive long weekend package to Busch Gardens through Liberty Travel. The first room we were assigned looked like it hadn't been touched in years. I've never seen such thick dust in my life. We requested another room and it was marginally better. I used the beach towels we brought along instead of the sheet/comforter. My first time in London was at the relatively new Holiday Inn Express Earls Court. Very nice hotel. I'm aiming for The Dorchester next time my travels take me to see the Queen (and Princes William and Harry). The Hilton bed is amazing, too.

My HD took a dump the other week. I was pissed to say the least. Luckily, I had put all of my music files on a back-up external drive before it happened. From now on I'll back-up actual documents, too. I have to get away from porn, too. I feel your pain. I don't have to deal with spyware and viruses, though, because I usually paid for mine. I'm even worse.

I loved Purple Haze on the Torrent.

Black Cherry all the way. I would like to see a chocolate brown interior.

Damn, the new CTS has a big booty, at least from the angle shown. I don't want to say the 3/4 area ruins the car but, IMO, it doesn't exactly help.

1. Mazda 3 (wagon) 2. 2008 Lancer 3. 2008 xB 4. Civic (coupe only) 5. HHR 6. Impreza (sedan, current-gen) 7. G5 Edit: Now that I think about it, I'd rather have the G5 than the Cobalt coupe.

I'd still purchase an LX car...no problem.

You look slightly like BV in this picture.

Wow... At least the wheels look good.

I was amazed when the local Saturn dealership opened a few years ago. So nice and inviting. I never stepped inside but the view through the front widows was nice: it did not look like your typical white walled, cubicle dealership. The new lighting looks cool.

Inviting a GM fan board mod is low-cost and grassroots-level positive PR. Every company does it, automotive industry or not. This was a good read. I'm a bit jealous.

Kenny's a dilf. He dresses so young. Are you going to Keith Urban's new tour?
