  1. Toyota was probably waiting to see the damage. We really didn't start getting pictures from the air until late Tuesday, early Wednesday. Then they used those pictures to come up with an appropriate sum of money.
  2. The ass on that sedan is horribly flat.
  3. Hollywood activism really is entertainment. Celebrities have been begging us to give money and support to people around the world for years, mainly Africa. Yet when citizens of their #1 market (read: where they make most of their money from) are in need of help, how many come running to make tv commercials and form organizations and go into areas to try to help out? HAHA. Real entertainment. Now I know at least one reason why I haven't seen a movie in months.
  4. Looks like it has a little bit of modern Charger influence.
  5. I'd love to hear why you're replacing the engine for the second time in 4 years. How about making a long story short? I'm sorry but I don't have any suggestions regarding a replacement engine. I do have one general suggestion, though. What about a nice used car?
  6. For regular unleaded? That's rediculous...price gouging after Katrina reduced the U.S.' output of oil from the Gulf of Mexico to only about 2%.
  7. Because the majority of us don't care for (and can't fit in) dopey little 50HP deathtraps with 12" wheels.
  8. Let's see- multiple admissions of lying & defect cover-ups stretching back 25 years.... yeah, give mitsu about 40-50 years and they might be able to start rebuilding their 'reputation'. Then again- that may not be enough time... [post="6878"][/post] I did saw slowly. Plus, I'm guessing not too many people in the U.S. have knowledge of the huge scandal/coverup.
  9. If only we could hear the morons inside GM debating whether or not to build a production Velite... Why even build a concept like this, hear all the positive feedback and NOT build one? That's how the Solstice story went: great concept, tons of positive feedback, production (with 10,000+ units sold before it hit dealer lots). I have a question for you guys. Using GM's excuses of "not having the right platform" and "the platform costs too much" to knock down any business case for the car, would you still be this interested and hyped up if the production Velite was FWD?
  10. Buick is the only division I have not seen an EPP ad for. The lag between the phaseout of the LaSabre and the intro of the Lucerne is headscratching. GM must have known it would clear out dealer lots with the EPP program, it must have. The Lucerne should be here now. I really like the LaCrosse. It's grown on me a lot since it was introduced. The front end is somewhat bland but the rest of the car, plus the interior, is very nice. If I were "that age" it would at least be on my test drive list.
  11. The design of the Yaris interior sucks, the HVAC controls are horrible, though it does look like the plastics are nice. This is what appeals to the Euros, however. The official U.S.-spec Yaris will debut at the SEMA show, along with the new Rav4. I like the exterior design of the Rav4 but its interior is too busy. Apparently it will be available with a V6, I'm guessing the 3.3L.
  12. That LR3 recall sounds really bad.
  13. I'm with Northstar, I really don't know what to think. Part of me is happy the 9-5 is finally being updated but the other half is wondering why Saab had to choose this design for the update. The major feeling I get from the pictures is "cheap," especially the first photo in Harley's post.
  14. That sea of gray plastic is a little scary, though.
  15. I guess I'm the only one that likes it.
  16. I think Isuzu will be gone very shortly. Small dealer base, no advertising budget and below-par products. Mitsubishi, IMO, will slowly build up sales and its reputation. It has with the new Eclipse and it has a number of products in the pipeline. A new Lancer, Evo and Outlander will be coming in a couple of years. Its also been showing a number of good looking concepts.
  17. Australia, July of 2002 Before senior prom, May of 2005
  18. While stopped at a redlight some moron motioned to me to roll down my windows. Him: "Is that a BMW?" Me: "No it's not." Him: "Oh, I thought it was because it had an "x" in its name." An xB is very different from a X3 and X5.
  19. There you go. I think this is a smart move. Martha's return, IMO, is going to be pretty big. Many people still like her and will watch her shows, buy her magazines and enjoy her products. Many also think she didn't do anything that bad. Whether you like to admit it or not her demographic is close to Buick's. Why should Buick try to act outrageous and hire Nelly, etc? No current Buicks appeal to Nelly's demographic and using Nelly in an ad will turn off Buick's demographic. Be (relatively) safe, aim for your demographic and sell some cars. At the very least, Martha will generate interest in the Lucerne and some people will get some more information on it. Nothing wrong with that.
  20. Very hot. GM needs to build this...awesome looks, goes with the convertible, not much investment, high rate of return. I agree with LA...no SKY version!
  21. I saw a bright blue Spectra5 the other day and it looked sharp. I was glad to see something bigger than 15-inch tires on it.
  22. I think the car is beautiful, too. A hell of a lot better than Maybach. Though, Rolls should be coming out with new cars, not modified versions of its only car.
  23. I don't know what you think but it takes a hell of a lot more education, money, time and determination to become a doctor or lawyer than it does to assemble cars. Like CaddyXRL-V said, the more education you have the more money you're going to make, even in a normal job such as teaching. Also, the more difficult and specialized your job is the more money you're going to make. Add those two together and it's substantially more than your typical American worker.
