Yeah we did. I guess it's a slow Asian auto maker-bad news day.

What's next, shooting someone who disagrees with you? Oh and tell your friend only women slap.

My business professor was talking about a book she read called "The Earth Is Flat" (or something along those lines) and how it really challenged her way of thinking about global trade and how Americans do business. According to this book (and her), we have, for too long, stopped producing a large number of children with a genuine interest in the maths and sciences and it's going to come back and bite us in the ass. We've been #1 for decades because we've constantly improved things either we or others have invented in order to fit our continually higher standards of living. By using our once-top notch education system we churned out scientist after scientist during WWII and the Cold War who then went off to invent or reinvent some awesome things. Foreigners started coming to the U.S. to be educated and then went back to their home countries to carry out what they've learned. That's why China, India and Co. are rapidly catching up to us and the U.S. is almost stagnant. Let's face it, manufacturing jobs are not going to come back to the U.S. anytime soon and probably will not until the rest of the world (meaning all 3rd world countries) is on par with us when it comes to standard of living, when manufacturing costs are equal. So you need to ask yourself a question: should we do what I think we should (see last sentence) or wait for the world to catch up so we can have a level playing field? We really do need to reinvent ourselves, our education system and our economy quickly.

LMFAO! Mike, the cars are bought right off the lot and crashed. The first Blazer and Venture pictures are from the IIHS (www.highwaysafety.org), which crashes cars offset into a wall that "gives" (like another car) at 40MPH. The government's crash test crashes the car into a wall that "gives" head on at 35MPH, I think. The IIHS test is a lot tougher. Someone should post a picture of the Astro and last-gen F150.

No midsize family car can be considered premium. That's more like Avalon, 500, Impala.

I have no problem with my dad's 2005 Altima. The acceleration is pretty good for a 4 banger.

The next-gen LS is apparently being shown in concept at the Tokyo show. Click for a rather worthless headlight rendering: http://www.autoblog.com/entry/1234000070062988/

25/26. I didn't get the red logo with the piano key-looking things on it.

I think normal people are able to tell the CSV quads come from the same parent company. Using the same platform for vehicles across GM's brands is awesome as it saves money and resources. However, needlessly giving dealers certain types of vehicles because they demand them is rediculous, as is blatantly putting a different badge on a car and not changing any styling aspects (or changing only a few) of it.

Cavalier will have to park at the furthest lot.

BOF can stand for big ol' female but in car speak it stands for "body on frame."

I think it would be a good thing for both parties if Saab is sold off. GM wouldn't have yet another financial drain and Saab would prosper under a smaller company that has the resources.

Martha's hot...don't diss. :P

Definately not. They like BOF trucks.

JANUARY thru OCTOBER 06 2005 NHTSA CAMPAIGN RECALL

Toyota really isn't the first company (or car company) to do that. -
Toyota's ad is partly right. Hybrids aren't just to get better gas mileage but to also lessen emissions. Without all the CO2 and other crap coming out of exhausts the air would be cleaner, there would be less haze and we'd probably live longer. There would be less asthma, lung cancer, etc. I doubt less emissions would mean seeing more of the world, greener grass or never ending days but there would be some advantages. We just can't see the advantages because we've been using normal technology since the car was invented. It would be interesting to compare a world where every car was hybrid from the beginning and the current one. Edit: There is a huge difference between hybrids and normal cars when it comes to emissions. A hybrid Escape is so much more cleaner than a normal Escape, even if it doesn't get the EPA MPG estimates.

JANUARY thru OCTOBER 06 2005 NHTSA CAMPAIGN RECALL

The Scion cars have all the kinks out of them because they've been sold in Japan and the tC is a version of a Toyota car in Europe. I forget the name, sorry. -
This may mean an AWD Camry and/or Avalon.

Wow this thread got long in such a short time. The following is unrelated but I feel the need to relate it anyway. The local teacher's union voted to authorize a strike (no date has been set yet) because they don't want to pay 9% of their health care premiums. Under the previous contract they didn't pay anything. Using my family as an example, our health care premium is $500 a month (family, NOT a single person). So these teachers are telling me they can't afford to pay less than $50 a month to help out the district? Taxes were raised by a good margin last year because a few schools needed to be redone. I graduated last year and the high school needed to be redone. So it all comes down to less than $50 a month? Amazing. Here's the solution: let them strike for 2 weeks (longest teachers can in PA), don't pay them, don't pay their benefits, fire the old teachers making $80,000 a year and hire young teachers who make $40,000 and force them to accept the proposed contract.

http://www.worldnetdaily.com/news/article....RTICLE_ID=35544 http://www.universitychronicle.com/media/p...ed-945966.shtml http://www.worldnetdaily.com/news/article....RTICLE_ID=29977 http://www.therealitycheck.org/GuestColumn...lenax120904.htm Just a few facts to back up the examples in my previous post. All of the court cases were brought by people "offended" by Christianity. Being a secular nation does not elude me. However, as evidenced by what happened in NYC public schools and what happens year after year thanks the ACLU, it seems as if our justice system supports every religion but Christianity. Again, atheism is a religion and people are advocating it when everyone should be free to practice whatever they want to, where ever they want to, whenever they want to, regardless who is "offended." Croc, how can someone be "offended" by the phrase "Christmas Vacation?" How can someone sue over that? If your life is dedicated to something so petty, you need help. Exactly like you and I have said, no one is forced to say the Pledge and (on top of that) don't need to say the phrase "under God." So what's the problem? Why have that phrase taken out when 98% of the country has no problem saying it and you can avoid saying the entire Pledge or just that phrase? I realize the phrase "under God" wasn't part of the Pledge until Eisenhower had it put in. No one has had a problem with it until recently because during the past few decades we were all too concerned with Commies and being blown apart by nukes people had the common sense to not focus their attention on something so menial. Organizations like the ACLU, activist judges and the left will keep pushing this and a few other issues on the general public (aka. mainstream America) and it will boil over. Sort of like how the daily Vietnam War protests in NYC eventually boiled over and caused hundreds of construction workers building towers to invade the protest one day and give the protesters a good beat down. Edit: spelling

TCC unveils Yukon and Yukon Denali early!

I'm also disappointed. There always seems to be a "but" somewhere. I like the rear end but the black D pillars look cheap, especially since they're larger than the side and rear windows, and should be body-colored. The Tahoe, if any, should have had the black D pillars as it's the cheapest one. I like the side profile but it reminds me too much of the Expedition. I like the interior but, save for a few pieces, it's the same as the Tahoe. I wasn't expecting a brand new design just a little bit more difference. The front I'm not sure about. Part of me likes it but most of me doesn't. GMC is supposed to be "professional grade" and while I realize Yukons will never see a construction site or other heavy duty, their design is supposed to say something along the lines of "masculine toughness," not "Gucci bitch." Leave that to the Escalade. As for this design on the Sierra, it won't work. Feminine truck designs don't go over well. I like the Tahoe better. I sincerely hope the Escalade is the best of the 3. -
How was money was spent on current Saab-Subaru collaborations? Hopefully less than the amount GM got for selling its stake.

I hope that wasn't a swipe at the military.
