  1. Obviously it's horrible this has to be done. I feel sorry for the people who are going to lose their jobs, it's always a tough thing. That being said, this has to be done. GM needs to return to a state of profitability with a lower percentage of market share. No car company is going to have a 30-50% market share, not Toyota, Ford, GM or DCX. It's unrealistic and not possible because the market is saturated with every type of vehicle imaginable and there are too many variables that people use to decide what kind of car they buy. Hopefully this is the last of major cuts at GM. I hope management did their homework, analyzed every possible outcome, thought of dozens of solutions and, in the end, went far enough. GM will be stronger, more agile and healthier when all is said and done.
  2. Less emissions are neither specifically advertised nor realized by the pocket of the consumer. In other words, most consumers will not care in the least. The majority of hybrid drivers are sold on mileage gains... but fail to do a bit of simple math to show how long they have to drive the thing until they see any savings vs. the comparable gas-engined vehicle. [post="45857"][/post] Some people don't care about the price/money portion of the hybrid equation. To them hybrids are using less gas and putting out less emissions, and if they have to pay an extra couple thousand then so be it. Less gas and less emissions are less gas and less emissions.
  3. The only good point Sixty8 made was the FWD-biased AWD. This is a huge mistake on Honda's part and hopefully they'll program the AWD system differently in a few years. OC, the X5 does not have FWD-biased AWD, I believe.
  4. The front reminds me of the 9-7x, the rear a Mazda and the side a Montero (or the other SUV that had the swept up window sill design). It screams "cheap" to me, too, especially the window areas and the rear, somewhat unfinished. Hyundai cannot design cars, I'm afraid.
  5. He's an Aussie, born and bred on RWD high-power cars from Holden and Ford. He got plopped down as an editor of M&T and thought, "Americans call these things cars?"
  6. Wow, this thread has left me speechless. The "new" Challenger is definately too retro. I think DCX is trying to redeem itself after the purists got their panties in a twist over the new Charger. This will mainly appeal to those types of people, the ones who love to return to their glory days. I'm going to bet the majority of them do not want to see a modern interpretation of the Challenger. My dad was all hyped up about the GTO but when he finally saw it he lost all enthusiasm. Meanwhile, I would have laid $30,000 cash on my local dealer's table for one if I had the money. No doubt it's going to be one hell of a ride but the retro feel of it smacks you in the face and it doesn't feel so good. It's just too much. Like someone else said, I hope the Camaro is not retro. The Mustang is about as retro as I'll go. It looks good and even stands out in this age of bland auto design, it can be updated throughout the years and it looks modern.
  7. Many times trucks/SUVs are listed as being able to tow under a certain weight when not properly equipped (low number) and are able to tow under a certain weight when properly equipped (high number). You sure you didn't confuse the two?
  8. I see a lot of high-end minivan models around my area, mainly Honda and Toyota. I've heard there's pretty damn luxurious but I'd never spend $40K on one.
  9. The last movie I saw was "The Fog." It was horrible and I didn't want to go but was made to by my friend. I'm not one to go to the movies unless the movie looks really good. Even then, I'll probably just rent it. Too expensive.
  10. AWD would be good if it didn't make the car too heavy.
  11. So we'll get a Ridgeline and a Silverado, both comparably equipped, beat the hell out of them, and see which one is a real truck. That's the only way we're going to end this argument.
  12. I know exactly what you're talking about.
  13. Before I read another comment that says something along the lines of "the Ridgeline is not a real truck!" I'd like to say something: I think everyone (other than Honda, possibly) can agree that it is not a real truck in the sense of a BOF 1/2 ton that can take a beating and keep on going. Got it? Good.
  14. I didn't even recognize who it was until the last 2 pictures and then I read where they came from. She's not tops on my list but she can be pretty hot if all of her stars line up. She was great in the movie, "Enough." Personally, I like the last picture the best, the way the holes in the umbrella look on her skin. Cigarettes and bondage do little for me, turbie. :P I didn't know she had that big of a rack, though. Edit: you kind of had me at the title of the thread. :AH-HA_wink:

    XLR redesign

I'm still waiting for a Kappa Caddy. There needs to be a cheaper coupe/convertible/roadster under the XLR.
  23. Not a fan of them because most people do not know how to use them.

    ULC inspiration?
  25. That's really sad. I was looking forward to a first-rate car for Saturn (which the concept essentially was), not a melted down, "it's good enough" bland egg. Actually, a bland brown egg because the interior has one good thing going for it: the awesome leather color.
