Wow the tails. If that's what Scion product developers think people want...um...yeah their market probably does want them.

Wait wait, people want one of the few entertaining SB ads pulled because we invaded a robot's privacy and saw its inner-thoughts? I agree absolutely! How can we disrespect an inanimate object's rights like that... Seriously folks it's a robot. Instead of complaining about a robot's private thoughts, why don't we do something more productive like..recycle? Or turn the light off when you leave a room. -Big Blue

Pontiac G8 PRODUCTION Information from GM Canada
big blue replied to CadillacCTS's topic in Heritage Marques
Edmunds has a video about the G8 which features a red G8 going around a track and a black/red two-toned interior. Perhaps they got their hands on a potential production line model? Watch the video on their site and see what you think. Have to say that car looks really good in motion. Click Here -

I've had my suspicions. Like I said before, something was off about this pic and you did a good job analyzing it. -
Care to provide a pic?

Pontiac G8 PRODUCTION Information from GM Canada
big blue replied to CadillacCTS's topic in Heritage Marques
Wow if that's the production interior I'm a little disappointed. The gauges lost all their color...infact the pic looks like it was converted to monochrome except for anything that was red before stayed. -
I've been doing it every week for 5 years. My Accord has the same setup, push for gas lid and pull for trunk, I like it actually. It saves from one more unnecessary lever being implemented. Once you get used to it, you kind of enjoy the simplicity. In comparison, my 93 Accord had a smaller gas lever inside the trunk lever, now that was slightly annoying...

2007 Chicago Auto Show: 2008 Pontiac G8 At 3:15 this afternoon, the Pontiac press conference was the place to be. Everybody wanted to see the new rear-wheel-drive G8 sedan. And we mean everybody. The Pontiac press conference was without a doubt the most crowded of the day. And it wasn't just members of the press waiting for the new performance sedan to show itself, we spotted people from Audi, Mercedes-Benz, Mitsubishi, Ford and Toyota in the audience. The car lived up to the anticipation. "This car is everything we think a Pontiac should be," said Bob Lutz, GM's vice chairman of global product development about the Austrailian-built sedan. "It's a return to tradition. And it's what Pontiac fans have been clammering for for years. An athletic, beautiful, powerful rear-wheel-drive sedan." When the G8 goes on sale in early 2008, it will compete with and be priced against the Dodge Charger and Chrysler 300C. "Pontiac is all about performance at affordable prices," said Mark LaNeve, GM's vice president of North American sales, service and marketing after the G8's debut. "Over time we will transition Pontiac to predominantly rear-drive." Unlike the illfated Australian-built GTO, the G8 was designed to be a Pontiac from the beginning, and LaNeve thinks that will make all the difference. Plus, it's a sedan, which should appeal to a larger group of buyers. Underneath is the same chassis that will be used for the Chevy Camaro, which will be built in Canada, but there's no Pontiac coupe planned at this time according to Lutz. That's right, fans of the Screaming Chicken, the Firebird is still a dead duck. The G8 displayed is the only one in the world and is dressed up in production G8 GT trim, which is the top performance model. It's powered by a 6.0-liter small-block V8 rated at 362 hp and is fitted with a six-speed manual transmission. Only the 20-inch wheels on this showcar are not production spec. The production G8 GT will wear 19-inch wheels, but those oversized slotted brake rotors and massive calipers are the real deal. The hood scoops, too. Pontiac has a winner on its hands. — Scott Oldham, Editor in Chief, Inside Line Click Here

That's what I keep wondering. The real world pics always look better...

I'm actually glad they decided on G8. The G6 is already a name populated with Pontiac and I know personally I don't have any recent fond memories of the Grand Am, Grand Prix or Bonneville. I think the G6 and G8 monikers work well and for once, actually differentiate a brand's old and new product. I know many of my friends who would never consider an American product except for the G6 and now the G8.

Well I've only see the first half of the first season sooo....

Nothing wrong with a G8 over a CTS. Both are worthy competitors..personally I'm not even sure what I'd pick anymore. That G8 is very appealing on paper, but I think I prefer the CTS's styling. The G8's tails bother me slightly..but that G8 front end is so nice. That was pretty Grey's Anatomy of you Croc, but it did make me laugh since I saw that ep a week or two ago..

My thoughts exactly. Honda/Acura has been very boring as of late and I solidly take this car over a TL. As for the CTS being afraid, it really doesn't need to be. I see this car just like you do, well except also taking on entry-level luxury cars like the TL too but that's kind of treading into CTS territory.

Forget the cocktail parties, I want those free car wash/state inspection coupons! Holiday cards and phone calls too? Curious, what do they call you about? It's pretty amazing that Cadillac does all that for its customers....now I need a Cadillac. I know Acura doesn't do any of that, and many of its dealers are basically Honda dealers that won't give you a bat of the eye unless you look like $$$.

From Edmunds: Survey: Wealthy Buyers Give Top Marks to Cadillac NEW YORK — Cadillac beat out Lexus and Acura to win top honors in 2007 for the best customer experience in a new online poll of wealthy American consumers with a minimum household income of $150,000. The Luxury Institute survey lauded the GM brand for "excellent" dealership experience and "friendly service." Lexus and Acura placed second and third. The independent Luxury Institute describes itself as the "voice of the high-net-worth consumer." What this means to you: Domestic luxury brands such as Cadillac are beginning to win over the fussiest — and wealthiest — buyers. Click Here

Very interesting find. I didn't know that thing had a diesel option...

Always there to wet our appetites and leave us hungry huh?

Well that's good, my main irk was the tailights. Course, we're all judging the G8 from a couple of teaser pics...

I think this will be a solid compact entry for GM/Saturn. The only thing is I wish is it had an optional larger engine, like the 2.4l ecotec or something. I love the looks of the 3 and 5 door...they're both sleek and modern looking. The Astra seems like it would fit well with the Apple-like niche marketing Saturn will be going for. Right now its good time to be a Saturn dealer.

Hey it looks like the old Cherokee so its already a good looker in my book. The interior materials line also threw me off, I thought it'd be all the same or similar. The thing with the interior is, it's not that its bad, its actually quite functional and simple. Materials just need to be upgraded.

Exterior is sharp and modern looking and it's a lot better than the egg on wheels we got for our last gen Civic Type-R. As for the interior, its one of the main reasons I like this generation of Civic so much. It's so DIFFERENT than any other Honda or other car out there right now. Years from now this 8th gen Civic will stand out from the rest of its brethern for having a polarizing interior, similar to the 4th gen Prelude's reputation. The Black/Red combo has always been used in Type-Rs, but I do think the red should be used more sparingly as in keep the seat bottoms and floorboard black. The red stiching should stay. The main complaint I have is what others have mentioned, the steering wheel. It's so big and bulky looking and doesn't match up with either the car's exterior or interior in anyway. It's definitely ugly, but that's the main styling complaint I have. Actually I lied, I still hate that weird midlevel window spoiler thing in the rear. Just prop that up top and the car will look a lot better. As for everyone complaining how Honda is getting a "free pass" on the digital gauges, please realize that not everyone is loving the digitalness of the Civic either. It's either a like it or hate it thing, and I've read several reviews/blogs sharing both opinions. One thing I hope stops is people saying "GM got blasted for using digital gauges, and Honda isn't!" When did this turn into a "media are biased" discussion? If I remember right, GM got slammed for their gauges 15-20 years ago because they were inaccurate and plus they were put in lackluster cars anyways. Maybe the media hated the whole car and decided to add one more thing to their "con" list. I'd say the main reason the media isn't reeling from a digital speedo nowadays is because of the world we live in where electronic devices are everywhere. "Digital/electronic" has become more integrated with our everyday life and maybe it doesn't stand out as much as it used to, I mean we are even starting to build electronic parking garages now where there are no ramps and a computers moves your car into a slot. Would I actually BUY one of this CTRs? I'm not sure, never driven/sat in one so I can't say I would. I'd probably end up with something more practical and less racey looking like a G8! But the Civic is interesting to me and props to Honda for taking a risk with styling. This time it paid off. Also, its perfect for that import tuner 16-18 year old market that its aimed for. I may be the only one who says anything pro about this car today but I don't mind, I like the car for what it is. Plus I think the interior is giving me a Knight Rider vibe for some reason...why is there no david hasselhoff smiley? hah.

GM Certified Used Cars get 5y/100k Powertrain Warranty
big blue replied to Flybrian's topic in General Motors
That's something I totally didn't expect to happen. Good going on GM's part as this is actually an example of them making a move for the lead on the certified used car market. Very smart plan here and also helps boosts confidence for older GM makes. I approve. -
Read this earlier at Edmunds' and I think that's a good idea actually. Saturn is already a niche player and that's what Apple was before it exploded. They just decided that being in a niche is a good thing which helped convince buyers to go with them, along with their unique looking products. The apple influence will go well with Saturn's friendly/greener image that it has over its other GM bretheren. Maybe one day it'll be able to turn into the Apple of the automotive world, becoming a recognizable face to buyers everywhere. Course that's some major wishful thinking for now. Maybe Apple and Saturn could team up and do some bundles. Free ipod when you buy an Aura anyone?

Click Here I never warmed up to the G6 coupe just because of its ugly Solara resemblance in the rear. Sedan has and still looks better in my eyes. Funny thing is this was written by a woman, I think she's fighting the good fight against Oprah
