    HHR Commercial....

If the car is projected to sell 100k and it sells 120k it is good but not a major hit. If the car is projected to sell 60k and sells 120k it is a huge hit! Heck it double sales projections, that is HUGE! They are building them at a rate of approximately 120k per year right now and if demand rises then they could probably raise production also.
  2. The law of diminishing returns is already at play. While GM's 4 speeds may seem to be crap in comparison to, say the Asin 6 speed auto, it is smoother and when geared properly and with an efficient motor can be made to get better gas mileage. I think that 7 speeds are more for the dispersion of power but that is just me. I will also say that cars with more peaky powerbands need more gears than models with flatter torque curves just to say in the power band.
  3. I saw him within 2 seconds. I looked at the picture as a whole and them my eyes jumped from the upper left hand of the picture to the right upper corner onto his face. Basically within 2 blinks I could see him. It helps that I have VERY good eyesight.
  4. Some people spend each and every day at work researching cars, ever hear of JD Powers? They publish reports that can be purchased that give information on each and every manufacure and parts supplier in the industry, they also forcast production of new models and plants that will be used to manufacture them. They reseach through public records to find land sales. To find contracts for labor, parts, power supplies, etc. Just because you get on here and have an idea and some says no that is wrong does not mean that those who have the information have to give it up. In fact if they did they would not be true to themsleves or their companies. I am sure that some of the stuff they are given the source or sources don't mind the info being given out. Also when multiple sources are involved there less chance of someone getting into trouble. PS I am PMing Josh now to ask if we can have an ID on insiders. If they want to be identified I am sure that we could see something happen.
  5. You don't like it don't read it. Nothing is keeping you here. I for one don't mind when someone, who can't say who they are but have been right SO many times in the past about future products, lets us have a glimpse behind the curtain. Or when they give us a nudge in the right direction. Your right you didn't know who was an insider. Maybe we should have a note under their names to indicate that they are in fact an insider. I will PM Josh to suggest that we have that. Perhaps instead of crying because someone said you are wrong you should do more research into subjects and tie leads together to get a bigger better picture.
  6. I think the XUV was ok but was to expensive of an option. If it had been more like the Avalanche it would have done much better.
  7. Same way you get to it in a 911, from under the car or by dropping the cradle. I belive there is also a cover that can be moved to access the top half of the motor.
  8. Holden found out just how much had to be done to make Kappa into a viable 2+2 platform. That work has been done and Torana shares very little with Kappa other than the front and rear suspension and other bits like firewall and steering column. The Curve and Nomad concepts are more inline with Kappa. They are lower and the rear seats are tiny by comparison to the Torana concept. They are also further away from reality than the Torana was. So lets look at it like this: a 2+2 rwd light weight platform could be built using kappa parts but it wouldn't be a kappa. Rear leg room Torana with rear seats folded down. Nomad concept with seats folded down As you can see the rear seats on the Nomad are tiny and pretty useless while the Torana is much more livable. Shell of car Kappa shell The rear bulkhead of the Kappa frame is gone on the Torana and so much metal is added the two are almost entirely different.
  9. I would think a belt would be causing the squeal. If it is from the right front then that is the right location. Try spraying a little WD40 onto the underside of the serpentine belt while the engine is running. If the squeal goes away we have our culprit. About starting a long time if your car has a VATS chip in the key check to see if it has bene damaged. Sometimes the resistance values don't get read properly if the chip is damaged. Or could be a bad battery or starter, or ground or any number of things.
  10. Yes Just noticed the fuel door is on the passenger side. Looks like all Lambdas will be like this.
  11. Guys the insiders aren't here to piss in anyone's cherrios but what ends up happening is that someone spews an opinion and others read that as fact. Then it goes around the world about 10 times as the gospel truth. So if you stop the mis information at the source with a correction then you don't have to deal with a lot of people being wrong about stuff.
  12. But DUH if there is an engine back there it makes the hatch almost completely useless. That is DUH why I was asking, a moot point but still nothing to get sarcastic over.
  13. Sorry but I am not feeling it for this concept. I have a feeling that the Nox or even the 06 Vue will stomp this into the ground in most reviews.
  14. I LOVE the Clio. But with the engine in the rear could you REALLY call it a hatch?
  15. I belive that they are. Or else you will have to hit 15 buttons to get the car to move under its own power.
  16. Yep, the 5L60E is limiting the N* growth right now. But the 6L80E that is behind the Supercharged 4.4 N* has higher capability. There is a PDF floating on GMI that has torque capacities for both FWD and RWD 6 speed autos as well as some drive ratios.
  17. Hudson likes to simply point out mistakes and see what people can figure out. I think he works for JD Powers in forcasting. He has tons of first rate knowledge and he admits to writing at least one book.

    GMC Acadia?

Turbo, I am thinking this is an Ultra series V8 since AH-HA used UV8. Either that or it is a RPO code that we don't know about yet.
  19. Trevor we are all here to learn more and figure things out. But we need to remember that there are people who are in positions where they cannot disclose their name or where they work, they are passing on more than they should in some cases. Just to let you know there are a few (evok, AH-HA, Uncle Dave, Hudson) who are deep insiders who know when changes take place and what they are. Sometimes they can share, sometimes they can't. We must accept what they say at face value because a lot of times they cannot get into deeper detail.
  20. The rear looks like an Infinity FX35 SUV.
  21. They kind of have an electric torque converter. There used to be a diagram of how it worked on GM powertrain's technology area, but I don't see it now. http://media.gm.com/us/powertrain/en/hybrid/index.html
  22. Hey Trevor I would caution against trying to out knowledge some who works day in and day out with future vehicle information, evok no me. Also GM already has a RWD lineup in NA it is the Sigma vehicles and even though they are expensive they are certainly as full line as any RWD platform in the industry, BMW discounted. See wouldn't it be easier to start with Sigma that was designed to be built in the US and then take out costs, might want to search for Mark Ruess's comments on this subject if you haven't read them.
  23. Actually the reason that the 2006 Impala 9c1 uses the 3.9 V6 is because there are cooling issues with the V8 in the W-body car and since a lot of police cars sit with the engine running a lot of the time the V8 might overhead, something a policeman doesn't want with his patrol car. Also I think the 4T65E HD is still not up to the challange of the V8. Though the LS4 is only down like 6 ponies from the current 5.3 DOD in the Envoy Denali and XL GMT360s.
  24. It is the title of a book about the C5 development. It is also a quote when the corvette team was deciding the color of the 40th anniversary cars it reads "Why are we even arguing about this all Corvettes are red the rest are just mistakes?" The decision was made then and there."
