  1. The UV8 could have much more than 300 hp standard. If it is based on the HF3.6 and displaces 4.7L or so and carry's DI it could be well in the 375 hp range easily.300/3.6=83.333 83.333*4.7=391.6667
  2. Huh thought I answered this earlier. UV8 is a OHC V8 reportedly being based on the HF V6.
  3. I think that .com is American because American companies have exploited it more than most other countries. .co.country tends to be something that other countries do.
  4. Right I was trying to say that they would be more SUV like than minivan like. Kinda like a SUV with sliding doors, but still based on Lambda obviously.
  5. 1991 Z28 is top in my list. The split bumper 72 Camaros are also high on the list. I happen to appreciate the late 2nd gen Camaros as well. The LT1 4th gen is probably my least favorite. LS1 4th gens are better but IMO the 3rd gen was the sexyest.
  6. You made these 3 posts and then decide to quit. http://www.cheersandgears.com/forums/index...sult_type=posts BTW of course this is a yank site it is a .com not a .co.uk
  7. Lutz is the key on interiors AND getting the detailing right on the exteriors. He is making the rules change so that things like this can happen.
  8. And I believe your basing your answers on the fact that no RFQ has been given, correct? So a valid question is how much work can be done before an RFQ is established?
  9. So that means the UV8 will be dimensionally smaller than the N*. A good idea since the LWB EPII models could need the V8 for sporty versions.
  10. So I am guessing that these will be much less minivan-esque and more GMT360 replacements with sliding doors.
  11. Kinda sad isn't it. A more efficient design is pushed to the side because a greater number of the competition uses an older more inefficient design.
  12. No take a look at which engine is actually larger. The high tech OHC engines are not high tech in that they take up more room, weigh more, cost more, and have more moving parts than a OHV motor. Given the same physical space to fit a motor for the most power AND fuel savings OHV wins every time.
  13. So wait the largest selling, highest profit, highest dealership number line should not get the exciting vehicles? Is that what you are saying. Do you realize that if GM went down to Chevy/Caddy it has a VERY real possibility of being a hugely profitable company?
  14. I think a lot of people saying Buick and Pontiac will compete are forgetting one thing. They are both a part of the same marketing strategy now. Buick is the softer more lux side and Pontiac is the sporty side. They can both have RWD sedans as long as the Buick is softly tuned and larger with OHC engines and the Pontiac is shorter, lighter, and more sportly tuned with OHV engines. But on the coupes you must remember that Chevy is king in volume and profit so it should get a RWD coupe before anyone.
  15. Would you care to compare the external dimensions of those two engines? Go pop a Honda 3.0 hood and a 3.9 OHV hood and take a look at which engine is larger.
  16. Actually I think the GMT360s are getting scaled back on the refresh. I expect a new interior and that is about all.
  17. Really worse January on record? Do you know that the Tahoe is already on sale? You do remember that Lucerne is up to full production. Cobalt is doing well. HHR is above expectations. GMT800 trucks are still selling VERY well. Impala is doing fine. Caddy is rolling right along where it should be. SAAB is supposed to be in the black this year!Yeah worst January on record. BTW posting that a sale or promotion starts next week could be construed as un-ethical but I will leave that up to others. Oh yeah Mr. Settlemire, I enjoy you being here but I would rather you be writing/talking to Bob Lutz and Rick Wagner about getting a few more engineers on that production schedule than talking to us yahoos.
  18. The current CTS is to big. Who knows how big the next CTS is liable to be! Short answer NO.Long answer: The Torana was NOT Kappa. It used Kappa's SLA front suspension and CTS based IRS but that was it. Notice in the interior pictures of the Torana during construction there is not a rear bulkhead. That is pretty important in Kappa's structure. Also I don't think Holden even used the hydroformed frame rails, THE key component of Kappa. Torana was simply Holden showing off a preview of what VE would look like in a smaller form using some parts GMNA had developed for a small 2 seat vert.
  19. Yep. But lets remember that the most inefficient combustion and most pollutants are created when the vehicle is started.
  20. Had to look up nebulous, my mind when on break. And I agree. Displacement means nothing without a measure of physical external size.
  21. And WHY the H*LL was this not brought to the states?!!!
  22. Yeah I noticed that when it first came out. They wanted the V6 to feel like it has some performance to it so they geared it for acceleration vs mileage. The N* has the power so the gearing didn't have to be as steep.
  23. But this gap isn't Toyota's fault. They simply studied the test and found out how to make their car's perform well in these tests. That is simply good business. For example if a teacher told you what kind of obsticale course you would be running and that you got a better grade by finishing faster, wouldn't you study the course and find out the best route to take? If you didn't do that then you are just not doing the best that you can do.
  24. Quick RB put on your tin foil hat before they get you too!!!
