  1. I am pretty sure it is a Corvair with a flat 6, but I think it looks like a roots supercharger on the engine.

    Toyota sub-brands

Similar problems different solutions. The point stands. But is Toyota making their large profits in their domestic market or is it their overseas operations that are raising their profits? Do you know the annual volumes or the % marketshare, I guess I am more curious about this than I thought.

    Toyota sub-brands

The reason I was asking, besides curiosity, is that GM seems to have trouble holding all of its brands together and spendslots of money making similar models with similar markets. It seems as though Toyota is able to have lots of models under different 'brands' and they can manage it without a lot of the trouble GM has. My question is why does Toyota handle things so well while GM has so much trouble defining the brands and filling the showrooms?
  4. I agree with all the front end comments, suggestions whatever, but I rather like the production rear end. I especially like the glass area below the angle, like the old CRXs had, I think it makes visibility better and looks distinctive.I also think that the 3800 Series II would have done a LOT to help with both performance and NVH of the Aztek and Rendevous. The O.C. can you shed some light as to why the 3800 was never offered in the vehicles in question? All that being said I would like to pick up an Aztek in a few years to go camping with and stuff it just seems like a neat vehicle. BTW there are 3 students, out of 1000, that drive Azteks at my professional college.
  5. Subaru has little to no experience w/ AWD and Transvers mounted engines, so I don't think that they will be helping Toyota unless Toyota starts using longitudinal engines (which I don't see happening in anything but Lexus cars and Toyo/Lex trucks).Toyota wanted Subaru's excess plant capacity in the US to help them keep up with demand. I don't think Toyota has done anything more than that, except maybe get a better price on Fuji's Li-Ion batteries.
  6. Walt, when is the embargo up on the SEMA Colorado?

    Toyota sub-brands

Thanks Hudson. So are different models sold at each distribution network, ie Corolla models are only in the Corolla distribution network?
  8. Does anyone know all the sub-brands, retail chains, that Toyota has in Japan?
  9. That looks VERY military like! I think this will give the next Hummer to be released a direct competitor.
  10. That doesn't sound like all the rumors I have read.I think the car you are thinking of will be a Lexus, with the engine from the IS500 and there may be a GS400H powered version. I think styling will be LA-F based.
  11. What happened is that the new ratings are using a different standard rather than manufacturers using their own standard. It made it easier to compare engines. Their ratings went down and GMs engines went up which means that GM's standards for testing output numbers were closer to that of the new SAE standard than that of Toyota.
  12. In the high res pics it looks a little better.
  13. Caddy knocked that interior out of the park! I am not digging the wheels or the lip on the front bumper at all. The new grill looks good as well, just like it does on the 07 CTS.

    What if...

Put me down for this one as well.
  15. Why not do something like a LT1 F-body. It will be more reliable than the LH, and cheaper than the 300zx. Heck I think that the 300 is the worst choice. Expensive to fix, expensive to buy and low on power compared to performance. You need to decide what kind of car fits your needs first. If it is fun and sporty, go with a Miata. If it is good interior and a little more lux, an older BMW or Mercedes would probably work. If you want something reliable, American, and Cheap go with a Buick. Your choice is to garbled to help you decide. Tell us your budget and what you want. I am sure that there are better options than all three of these in any, of the 3 you showed, categories.
  16. No crap Chevy is going to have a VERY full lineup in a few years. Lets look at just the coupes though for now (in the US)Cobalt coupe Camaro V6 Camaro V8 large RWD semi lux Coupe (MC possibly) T2x style coupe like SUV Corvette Corvette Z06 I don't see the room for another Chevy coupe. I think that someone may be crossing some wires. Kappa may spawn a larger rwd sedan and coupe for Pontiac and the Stingray name has been rumored as the production name for the Blue Devil, but I don't think Chevy will be getting a 2 seat vert Kappa at all. If anyone could use a Kappa it is Buick, hard top only and V6, like a Crossfire competitor.
  17. I can top the skunk smell...I spent 6 1/2 hours in the cadaver lab at school on Friday! You don't want to know what it smelled like when some of the older bodies start getting mold. It AIN'T good!!!
  18. Exactly my point as well.
  19. I saw a black, blinged out Aspen on the streets yesterday. I actually thought, from a distance, that it looked pretty nice. Almost Navigator like. Definately still not on par with the GMT800 or GMT900 Escalade in street presense but still better than many other large SUVs.
  20. That is a great point Croc. Buick would be the right brand to use for limos. Have you ever seen a Bently limo? If that is what Caddy wants to be considered then they need to emulate the super lux, BIG $$$ brands in a lot of ways. A Buick Zeta Limo would probably look quite nice and with its lower price compared to the Caddy would lower the cost of purchase for livery companies.
  21. Not completely vapor but not publically spoken about either. GMNA expressed lots of intrest in a 4 cylinder only compact RWD sedan, as did Holden (Torana name being thrown around a lot), and Pontiac would be the likely sports model for the US while Caddy would do very well with it both in Europe and the US, and maybe even China. It has been talked about in a number of articles, including the one with Holden saying they really want a compact RWD model that would be a Torana. And knowing Holden if they build it it will hold more than a 4 cylinder. Also some insiders are saying it could come to market about the same time as the Impala. But in reality it is NOT confirmed.
  22. The problem with that is that the NG CTS will be on the AWD Sigma, just like the current STS, and will be larger (presumably longer as well). So that begs the question is there room for the STS?
  23. Here it is in clay without the wing. To give you an idea of the shape better.
  24. I didn't see it but I am reading "Christine" right now. So I am going to say red w/ white stripe 1958 Plymouth Fury.
