  1. And wait you WILL because the Lincoln version of the Flex is well over a year away.
  2. Matress Salesman. Seriously though I am working on my Doctor of Chiropractic. I will be done in December 09. While rough I realize that grades don't determine who is the best chiropractor. I won't kill myself over studying for something but I do put in my time.
  3. Want to feel better about your schedule check out mine: http://logan.edu/pdf/DC%20Class%20Schedule%20Summer%2007.pdf I am a Trimester 2 student now, in 3 weeks I will be a Trimester 3! That is right 32 credit hours! And that is over 15 weeks!!! So you wanna trade schedules?

It seems that is everyone, save GM, plans for 4 clyinder trannies. I guess that cost is the big issue.

Ok, so an even cheaper transmission in terms of manufacture and repair. Makes sense for a cheap little car.
  6. So there is a Riviera coming or no? You are getting some of us REALLY excited!!!
  7. So there would be an open source chassis and the automakers would be coach builders? Nifty, we could see much more expressive designs and such.
  8. I may have to call you on that. I know a 115 lb 5'2'' asian female and could easily teach her to drive in my Monte, she doesn't know how to drive or ride a bike (kinda funny since she is 25!).
  9. I don't know. I guess it depends who is on the financial backers.
  10. I don't know if anyone here has seen this but it seems really cool. Thought I would share. http://www.theoscarproject.org/index.php?o...ge&Itemid=1
  11. GM's 1st gne hybrids were in pickup trucks only, the Sierra moreso than the Silverado I think. I think the two can be mated well. It just depends on what the producers want to accomplish. But in this case the only thing accomplished will be PR.

I am guessing costs savings? Does that also imply the 4 speed auto will be used on base models, as it is on the current base Corolla? Doesn't speak well of Toyota's commitment to its customer, cheapening out on lower models. Though those who live in glass houses...
  13. Well first off welcome to our little corner of the web. Hope you stick around and make some e-friends from our unique little group. While this would be hella cool it isn't going to happen from the factory. The HHR is based on Delta, a FWD only unibody chassis. The LS4 w/ AWD system could be done but for the market segment GM is going after it would not be high volume or profitable enough to justify it. An aftermarket company like Mallet could likely do it and make some big change but don't expect it from the General. Actually I really like Cargo Doors but orders and consumer reserach showed that people preffer the liftback. My grandmother ordered one of the last cargo doored GMT800 SUVs only to have the dealer order it wrong. She took delivery anyway, with the lift gate rear, and actually she is glad she didn't get the cargo doors. She likes a lot of the utility offered by the liftback vs the doors. To each their own I guess. The center window switches are something GM picked up from others, particularly European models. By having the switches in the center a dog, cat, or small child can't have its head hanging out the window and step on the button to close the window. Bascially it is a cheap safety feature that also saves on development costs. Don't coun't on this one changing anytime soon, the new G8 has switches like this as well. Expect the SS or Sport model, my preffered name, to come out within the next 2 years. It will have a FWD version of the 2.0DI Turbo Ecotec found in the current Solstice GXP and SKY Redline. AWD will not come until the HHR moves to a chassis capable of it, the next full redesign. That should come early next decade. Again this sounds like an aftermarket kit that could be done more effectively than a factory backed effort. I just don't think volume could justify the investment. But a cool idea none the less. The USB port thing is coming. I remember seeing a pic of an HHR w/ a USB chord in the upper glovebox but I think it was just for Ipod integration. I do expect that once hard drive systems, like the Chrysler MyGig, are added to more and more passenger cars things like this will become more common. Again welcome, and be sure to offer your opinion on all topics.

Wait a second isn't this a twist beam rear suspension? Didn't GM get REAMED for using this in the Delta Ion and Cobalt, both of which will be either replaced or refreshed before this thing hits US shores?! Hmm...I just saw another picture here which shows outer links of an IRS. I am confused maybe solid rear for FWD models and independant for AWD?
  15. The Fiero uses a space frame. But unlike the Corvette space frame it doesn't have independent frame rails. So you can say it is unibody. The 4.5L and 4.9L were PFI pushrod aluminum block and head V8s. The didn't make a lot of hp but made tons of torque. You can use carbs on them will a little modifications. The Northstars came out in 92 IIRC. They are 4.6L DOHC all aluminum V8s. The originals had 275 hp and later got 300 hp.
  16. Your question has been answered!
  17. It doesn't matter to them how many they sell. Just like the Prius this is a marketing move more than anything. I assume they will still loose money on each one they make. But the positive press and increased 'green' persona more than make up for it.
  18. I will say this as nicely as I can but don't take offense if it comes out to harsh. You should not attempt this. If you don't know enough about engines to tell apart a Northstar (DOHC 4.6L V8) from a 4.5 PFI injected OHV V8 and you can't distinguish between a space framed Fiero and a BOF chassis then you can't possibly perform this swap easily. That being said Pennock's Fiero forum would be a great place to start. I used to read there several times a week for a couple of years but since I forgot my password and the email I used to register is gone I don't read there anymore. Things you should know: Fier= P-body. It is a space frame unibody chassis with plastic body panels. The panels will not rust but the chassis can. The original engines were either the 2.5 Iron Duke (3/4 speed auto or 5 speed stick) or a 2.8 60* V6. No other options. Some common and fairly straightforward swaps: SD4 (super 4 cylinder, could be had up to 3.7L of displacement, OHV basically half a tall deck Pontiac V8). Watch out blocks and parts are VERY rare and expensive! 3800 90* V6 (you can swap everything from the NA late 80s models through the Series III SC models with little difficulty. Harder to do if you want to use a stick otherwise pretty cheap, quick, and easy). PFI Caddy V8s (All FWD from very late 80s through about 91. OHV all aluminum and tons of torque. Have to rewire a lot for thise one but not to hard). Northstar sometimes written N* (DOHC all aluminum V8, few mods and pretty expensive but a great engine with tons of potential). Quad 4 (DOHC I4 up to 180 hp stock. Few mods available and you have to use the tranny from the Quad but a very rev happy little motor with tons of power stock. Be sure to stock up on head gaskets). Ecotec (not a lot have been done but the SC 2.0 from the Cobalt SS/Ion Redline should be a pretty easy fit, but lots of wiring. Same holds true for the 2.0T used in SAABs). 2.8T HF V6 60* (also a SAAB motor. Enough said turbo V6 Fiero. Lots of wiring and high cost but VERY cool). SBC (really a fairly inexpensive swap with lots of potential. Just check out your trans adapter plate and make sure it is a quality peice.) Usually done by someone rather than an individual doing it. Longitudinal FWD V8. Not a lot of these out there basically you cut out the trunk and swap in a FWD V8 from a big body GM car, Caddy 500/Olds 455. You need to use the stock transmission. Big downsides= no kits and big weight gain. Big plus side= wheelstands with no trouble.
  19. I am willing to bet that GMNA's Zeta will be able to use McPheresons & SLAs.
  20. Its amazing how 1 specific group uses something THOUSANDS of years old and it becomes representative of evil or becomes cultish. The Nazi's adapted the right hand extended salute from the ancient Roman society. The extended right hand was used when addressing a group, as seen in many ancient statues or statues representing the ancient Romans. Lookout it is the Nazi's!!! Also the Roman Catholic church has used that gesture to signify a group addressing each other and being of one voice for about 2,000 years (it began when it was common practice). If you went to church more often you would notice this is used a few times a year, baptisms and confirmations being two examples. As a person who chose to join the Catholic church, at the age of 24, out of my own want for religion and my finding a place that fit me, personally. BTW the Nazi's also adapted the swastika from another ancient religion and used the eagle to represent values in much the same way as the US uses the eagle to symbolize its values. If you really want to see interesting, and sickening, stuff check out how the extremist Muslim's are re-using much of the symbolism that the Nazi party used in prior to and during WWII to demonize and dehumanize both Christian and especially Jewish persons.
  21. Hey, do you have something you wish to share with the rest of the class?
